Meghan Leaving Suits, Rachel Zane Gets Married & Latest Photos of Meghan!

For months we've been hearing endless rumours and reports on Meghan's plans for the future. It was widely expected she would leave Suits when filming for season seven commenced, and over the past twenty-four hours sources have confirmed to several reputable news outlets, not only is Meghan departing but Patrick J Adams, who plays her love interest Mike Ross, also plans to move on to new projects. Meghan was photographed on set over the weekend following a busy week of filming.

Earlier today, Patrick J Adams posted a cast shot on Instagram. Season seven filming wraps up on Friday.

'Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the NBCUniversal-owned cable network is close to a deal to renew its "Blue Skies" procedural for an eighth season as stars Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle plot their exit from the Aaron Korsh-created series.
Adams has been with the series for all seven seasons and recently started directing episodes of the legal procedural, the last remaining drama from USA Network's "Blue Skies" brand (before the cabler went darker after the success of Mr. Robot). Adams earned a SAG Award nomination for his role as likeable bad-boy lawyer Mike Ross. Sources note he is looking to pursue other creative avenues beyond Suits. The actor has been in contract talks for months but now appears poised to exit.
Markle co-stars as Rachel Zane, a paralegal-turned-lawyer at the show's law firm who is engaged to marry Mike. Speculation about Adams and Markle's exits resurfaced over the weekend as the duo were spotted on the show's Toronto set filming a wedding scene. Speculation that Markle, an avid philanthropist who also has been with Suits since its start, could exit the series began almost immediately after she started dating Prince Harry in 2016. Her departure opens the door for a potential royal wedding, which has been wildly speculated since the actress met Queen Elizabeth.'

The news was certainly expected and paves the way for Meghan to move to London this month. I have no doubt it will be difficult for her to say goodbye to Rachel Zane; not only did the role give Meghan her big break, but she's very independent and giving up her acting career is obviously a sacrifice she is happy to make because (it almost seems a done deal) she and Harry have planned their future. She has previously said, long before she met Harry, she would love to dedicate herself full time to philanthropy. A royal position is the perfect platform from which to explore that avenue.

How will Rachel Zane's story end? I don't want to give away too much (if you are a Suits fan and haven't already heard and don't wish to, avert your eyes :)). Meghan donned a wedding dress for filming in Toronto last week as her character finally got her fairy-tale ending and married longtime love Mike Ross. I'm sure there were jokes from fellow cast and crew members about Meghan's own possible nuptials. It was possibly a rather surreal day for her too as the next time she puts on a wedding dress it will be for her own real-life fairy tale.

According to Hello!, Meghan wore the Anne Barge wedding gown from season five (it's the character's second attempt to reach the altar). Founded in 1999, Anne Barge is renowned for timeless style with a contemporary twist. Enchanted by weddings from a young age, Anne Barge was destined for design. As a child, Anne spent many weekends sitting beside her mother, a concert pianist, through wedding ceremonies and special occasions alike. Inspired by real brides as they wed, Anne sketched gowns for friends and family until finally pursuing design school following her graduation from the University of Georgia. A favourite among celebrity brides and red carpet icons alike, Anne Barge has created custom designs for Laura Benanti, Johanna Braddy, Kristen Cavallari, Yvonne Orji, Violett Beane, Amirah Vann, Leah Pipes, Taraji P Henson, Amber Riley, Lauren Alaina and more.

The Versailles Plunge Embroidered Tulle Gown is described: "Fashioned from Italian fabric, this plunging V-neck gown is complemented by a sheer beaded back. Intricate tone-on-tone beading scatters out across a full tulle skirt." It's a beautiful gown; epitomising elegance and sophistication.

There's a great video of Meghan with close friend Jessica Mulroney from the day they were looking through potential wedding dresses.

The crew reportedly filmed the scenes during an overnight shoot at Toronto's King Edward Hotel.

Your faithful scribe got a tad distracted with talk of weddings and fairy-tale endings...back to the candid snaps of Meghan from the weekend.

Meghan wrapped up in the Soia & Kyo Saundra Parka (another brilliant ID from Meghan's Mirror). The piece is described as "a cozy Soia & Kyo puffer coat with a coyote fur ruff at the hood. Zip placket and four front pockets. Ribbed cuffs. Lined. Down fill". The fur trim has been removed from Meghan's parka.

Meghan wore her trusty Kamik Sienna Boots. The cozy boots remain available at Nordstrom.

  1. Exciting times ahead! 👏 Meghan seems such a happy bubbly person just what Prince Harry needs. Is it just me or am I being unkind i am not a great fan of the centre part a side part seems more flattering (for most people to be honest)??

    1. Nope. I am in favor of the side part also. I am very much not a fan of a center part for Kate. Very few people can successfully wear a center part, in my opinion.

SO, filming ends Friday. Finally. 🎉 yay
NOW she and Harry have a virtual blank canvas. I am SO excited. Hello London. Here we come. (Did I mention that I am SO excited?
    lol.)

If Charlotte says Meghan is leaving "Suits" she IS leaving "Suits". If Charlotte says that filming wraps on Friday then filming wraps on FRIDAY.
No more silly gossip and made up stuff from the media. HalleluYah. :)

    THANK YOU CHARLOTTE🌷

    4. NO, Royalfan and Surfer girl, Meghan will show up in a mini skirt, ending WELL above her knees (Kate will be green with envy), with bare legs (she´s a Californian, right??)- and Doc Martens´boots for the "bohemian touch", her hair in fashionable "out-of-bed"-style, her neckline plunging (so that everybody can see what Harry will get), and the whole thing just enough "see-through" that all the men will have left plenty to their own imagination (and the women to rant about), HAHAHA!!!!! Just kidding.... ;-))))

Patrick Adams possibly leaving the show, too, really surprised me. It was the least possible thing on my mind while contemplating how they might write Meghan "out of the show"....because the whole show was so much based on him and his story.. kind of sweet, you know, as if he couldn´t see himself staying without "his Rachel being there anymore"...
I wonder how Meghan is feeling at the moment... she must be extremely excited.. and I am SO excited for her!! And happy!! :-))))

Bittersweet, I have to say so... I LOVED Meghan and Patrick J Adams on Suits, I really did - to see them both gone... uhhh ohh, that´s hard... As much as I love Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter, Rick Hoffman as Louis Litt and Sarah Rafferty as Donna Paulsen - it surely won´t be the same... :-(((

  12. Oh Lordy. How very exciting! and a bit sad too for me as a Suits fan.

It sounds like Suits is wrapping up in the best way though with both Mike and Rachel marrying and going off into the sunset together - I was wondering how Meghan'd departure would play out as the storylines have been so focused on their love story, so I was hoping that she wouldn't just be killed off tragically or something stupid. It's a surprise that Patrick J Adams will be leaving, as you comment Eve, as he was a big part of the story - but seems the right way to play out if they are both moving on - and I do love Harvey and Donna so lets see how it that works next season.

With the talk that she was moving to London and setting up her own charity base/office it all sounded like it things could possibly take a while to announce anything? I'm in two minds about whether this is to wait until after W&K baby after all and then announce and give Meghan time to establish a bit more philanthropy base in the UK/get some PR/give them time to embed within the public view (If reports about popularity come to mind she's only got a 17% liking with polls recently). However if they wait and announce in May there still could be a late autumn winter wedding, but I think we have to avoid 2019 and Brexit et all.

I'm still trying to be a giddy kipper though and think that the announcement should come December or early Jan before the Baby fever kicks in so we can have that glorious summer wedding we all need!

The Wedding dress she wears in Suits btw is gorgeous, but not as flattering as it is on the model? something akin to this to long sleeves, train and a taira wouldn't go amiss though LOL. There's bound to be peonies in there somewhere (as I read it was her favourite flower?) - could be a lovely embroidery detail sweeping around the dress? ... deep breath. calm down. LOL.

  13. Does anyone think that Harry and Meghan will maintain a home in Los Angeles (amongst other homes elsewhere)? That's Meghan's home turf and a place she says she loves and misses.
They couldn't realistically stay with Meghan's mom when they are in the area as her home wouldn't accommodate PPO's and might not be secureable.

I don't believe so - Harry has little money of his own other than a relatively small amount from Diana - it would seem very tidy to most of us but he has a very expensive lifestyle - that of people far wealthier than he is.

Bluntly, the royal family is going to be paying the majority of the bills, and the royal family isn't going to create a situation where an unhappy Meghan could return to the US after children come. Hopefully this won't come to pass, but I don't believe after the experience of the last decades, and given this is a family that plans funerals years in advance, that this won't be a contingency planned for.

Once she marries Harry and has a family - Meghan's British for life, like it or not. Much as Alexandra in Denmark remained there. Nor would the British public support royal protection - paid for by the public - spending time in the States other than for public duties. Meghan's mum can come visit her.

I think there might be a country house eventually - I would doubt immediately. But the main home will probably be Kensington Palace - provided grace and favour by the queen - or some similar royal residence. I think multiple homes are very unlikely.

      Delete
    4. Thanks for your perspectives on that, Julia. They are definitely food for thought. Additionally, the thought did occur to me that someone of means who love the boys as as dearly and as much as many of us do, might gift to Harry and Meghan the deed of a nice country spread free of cost and also clear of any encumbrances as a personal gift. The nobility and aristocracy have showered the royal family with lavish gifts for centuries.
I also see your point about a home in Los Angeles. The Queen would never want any of her Royal great grandchildren leaving with Meghan for the United States should there ever be a separation between Meghan and Harry. That would just not happen. I hadn't considered that.

      Delete
    5. The Embassy is the residence of the Ambassador to a country, usually located in the seat of government-the British Embassy is in Washington, DC; the American Embassy in London etc. However, there are Consulates located in some major cities, such as Los Angeles. I doubt Harry would stay there. More likely, a hotel, as he did in Toronto, reportedly. Although he did have official business there, Harry was apparently combining both official and personal activities while in Toronto. In the past, some royals have been entertained at private homes when on private business. An Embassy would likely be used for official, State visits only, as William and Catherine have done. I'm sure, between Harry and Meghan, they could come up with someone with an estate and staff that could comfortably accommodate both them and their entourage. If security concerns were a primary concern, most likely the visit would not be made at all. RPRs are assigned to a royal, not per location or event. Where Harry goes, his security goes. Notice photos of Harry on his private African getaway with Meghan.. However, sometimes a royal must calculate risk/benefit. If the trip is strictly personal and security risk is high, the trip probably would not be made.

    6. SWEET JESUS, they aren´t even (officially) engaged yet and we are already starting to talk about their (possible) separation? And an "unhappy" Meghan who will be "British for life" - as if this was a "life sentence in prison"?
Can we not just ENJOY this time, JUST ONCE? Do WE really have to think of all NEGATIVE eventualities that might happen? They are not even married yet!!! Why can´t we just watch all things UNFOLD and be HAPPY WITH THEM AND FOR THEM!! They are happy and in love at the moment - and should it not work out - the world will not come to an end!!!
Why don´t we just all send them the most positive energy possible with our excitement about their happiness!! THAT will help them to thrive - as a couple and as individuals!!
PLEASE, there are so many bad news ALL THE TIME, on the radio, the tv, the internet, the papers - one could think THE WHOLE WORLD I S BAD NEWS - can we not at least on this blog be just excited for a change, happy, looking forward to something - without being reminded that the next bad thing is BOUND to happen?
I am most definitely a very realistic person - I surely am the first one to see a possible pitfall - but there´s a difference between being realistic and seeing everything possibly fail - until proven otherwise. That´s not uplifting and helping people to find creative solutions - that´s depressing. It´s a missed chance to enjoy life and in doing so recharging your batteries - so that i f something goes wrong, you have the energy and spirit to find a good solution!!
Right. Rant over. Sorry for this but I do so wish for this blog to be the one place in this world where one can come to, read and write and later leave, in good spirits, uplifted, energized and excited!!!!

    7. If Meghan is determined that she and Harry have a home in Los Angeles perhaps the Palace could cleverly have a disclaimer in the deed that says that upon the dissolution of the marriage the property reverts to the Windsors, although as I'm writing this it has dawned upon me that if Meghan would want to take the children to Los Angeles she could get her own house and it might be difficult for the Palace to prohibit Meghan from taking her children anywhere she wants. hmmm.

    8. Dearest Eve. My bad. 🤦🏼‍♀️ You are right. Thanks for the reality check. This is a time of happiness and celebration. We don't need to go down the road of negative speculation. No need to do that.

SOOOOO, to re-calibrate, do you think Meghan will wear one of the Queen's tiara's??? If she doesn't I don't know what I'll do. She just has to wear a tiara and Meghan wearing one of the Queen's would be SO cool. And such a statement that the Queen likes Meghan. :)

What will be the theme for her wedding? Kate's was "the language of flowers".
Who will plan the wedding reception?
Will it be at Buckingham Palace?
Will they spend their wedding night at Buckingham Palace or Not Cot. Oh please NOT Not Cot, lol.
How does one top Kate's wedding cake?
Where will they go on honeymoon?
      Where will they live?
Will they have a household team? cook, housekeeper, butler, valet?
After they have children will they go on family vacations with William, Kate, George and Charlotte?
Will Meghan pick up a British accent? :)
      Will Doria move to London?
Will Guy and Bogart like bubble and squeak? :)
Will Harry and Meghan have a coat of arms?
Will Meghan's dad walk her down the aisle?
Will Harry and Meghan invite their ex-girlfriend/boyfriends, husband to the wedding?

AND most importantly will Guy and Bogart get to be ringbearers in the wedding? (Prince George can be there chaperone going down the aisle
      and Charlotte the flower girl.

And I'm respectfully the opposite Eve, remembering the tragic marriage of Charles and Diana that left Harry so damaged was a fairy tale meant to be a balm against the troubles of the world. It was, looking back, a very selfish way to see it.

I think the best marriages are ones where there is a realistic acceptance of the difficulties ahead and I've been frankly dismayed, even ashamed at the press and blog pressure on this couple to satisfy some sort of public desire for a wedding while the couple themselves are still in the dizzy, dancing way you feel stage, which is not going to begin to sustain a marriage into the royal family - a place where most people on this blog have agreed they would be reluctant to marry into.

Royal marriages are the toughest ones out there - even for a practical man like Philip - no there won't be a house in Los Angeles, no Meghan won't be free to do her charitable work how she wishes and to outshine Kate and to rearrange the royal family to her liking - they will rearrange her and she will be told what she can and can't do, no, no one is holding out a welcome mat to her - her popularity according to one poll is lower than Camilla's, in part because she's already made mistakes in the excitement of the moment - which if things had gone more slowly, I think it might well have been different.
No she won't be free to have any children leave with her - just as Diana would have liked to have left after the marriage break-up but knew she couldn't. Anyone pushing for this couple to marry quickly should be thinking about these things and Meghan and Harry certainly should be.
This is reality and I frankly think it's unkind and unfair to the couple not to see it that way because otherwise you are contributing to a mad rush where a thoughtful eyes-open progression would be much kinder. I want them to succeed and the only way to do that is to view the situation realistically. The press doesn't care, royal divorces sell big time, but we are humans on this blog and should be looking at this situation honestly - not as a wish fulfillment.

No I'm not excited, I'm cautiously hopeful for this couple - but I said after the disaster of Charles and Diana, of Andrew and Sarah, that I wasn't going to buy into a fairy tale again because it doesn't exist. I think the external pressure to create one is hugely detrimental to the couple themselves - which is why I won't do it. Because our happy energy won't help them or Charles and Diana would have been the happiest couple in the world - instead the world came to an end for Diana.

    10. The popularity was measuring the royals.Last I checked Meghan isnt a royal, nor does she live here. She hasn't done any engagement here and no one really hears of her here.Comparing her to people that have lived here most their lives,do engagements here and are covered here is unfair and I don't take polls like that seriously. Was there a poll like this conducted for Kate or Chelsy or Cressida? Why Meghan? 3rd poll this year about her and she's not even engaged.Best they measure her popularity when she's actually done something here and is actively part of the royals otherwise,it's null

    11. In fairness Julia, we are ALL speculating about EVERYTHING. (apologies to anyone here who may be a close, personal confidant of Harry or Meghan and is therefore not speculating)

No one knows the truth of any relationship except for the people in it, whether they live in Buckingham Palace or a council house. We have no idea what stage their relationship is in, or how solid it is.

And for heavens sake that poll isn't worth the paper it was printed on. It also listed an approval rating for George and Charlotte in the high 40's. What have two toddlers done to warrant the approval of the British people? And does their ranking imply that more than 50% responded, "no I don't approve of those two toddlers" ? Nonsense. It was a recognition poll at best.

It is such a different time and era, in my opinion Harry and Meghan will have much more freedom than anything we've seen before. Not to mention we have a situation I've never seen in my lifetime. A sitting monarch, a Prince of Wales, his direct heir, with soon to be three heirs of his own. Harry and Meghan will be afforded a very wide berth I think.

I am with Eve. My feet are firmly on the ground but I am still capable of being excited, excited for the potential this couple seems to have, not to mention the boost they may give the monarchy when it is sorely, sorely needed.

We are all speculating and some of the speculating is very wild indeed. Harry having another expensive holiday abroad - this time for Thanksgiving. I doubt it.

As for polls, I've seen two - the one I referred to is from the Express who publishes royal polls all the time. I treat polls with great caution but will say there were no particular surprises in the order in that one - other than the presence of Meghan. Hello!, known for being strongly pro-royal (a good thing to my way of thinking) had a more specific and favourable poll amongst their readers.

Personally, I don't think Meghan should have been in that poll - she is just a girlfriend - but it could be argued all this wedding talk and speculation shouldn't be happening either. The simple truth is almost since the start of her first link with Harry, Meghan has been treated as a virtual fiance, much more so than Chelsy, Cressida or Kate who were simply treated as girlfriends.

Why this is happening? why we are hearing from all these nameless palace officials and friends and family of Meghan - why there are these multiple mentions of meeting the queen (with tacky blacked-out windows, no less) and endless engagement talk. With due respect to Charlotte and her magnificent work - we even have a blog here, and other blogs dedicated to Meghan. I don't know why so much more is assumed about Meghan than Chelsy and Cressida, but I would like to see it settle down a little. But given we hear about an engagement, it's no wonder she's included in polls.

Is there a reason to be concerned her ratings are so low. Anyone lower than Camilla should definitely be concerned - and a possible fiance of the most popular member of the family should be rating much higher. On the other hand, I think if Meghan spends more time quietly in Britain, and avoids suggestive interviews, those numbers will rise. At this point, she has been seriously overexposed.

Bluhare's remark is funny and lovely to see her here but I do think there is an issue with how little George and Charlotte have been seen at home - that there is a waning of interest overall in the children. Exposure has a lot to do with it - there can be too much but also too little. Sophie's numbers were relatively low compared to her popularity amongst royalists but she isn't well known to the public at large.

But looking at the bottom of the pile there are who one would expect to see - Edward, who has never been popular, Andrew who has become hugely unpopular, Sarah and her daughters, Peter Philips - who became very unpopular thanks to that whole business with the queen's birthday and his firm which should never have happened, and of course Camilla who always ranks low. So the poll does seem pretty accurate in overall public feelings.

    20. Julia, how would spending a holiday with Meghan and her family be an expensive holiday? It does make sense that she would want Harry to enjoy this tradition with her in the States, no? And she could return to London WITH him.

Anywhere royal protection travels abroad is hugely expensive and Harry has been out of the country a great deal. Royal protection is the single greatest royal expense and it's met by the taxpayers. When accommodation and transportation has to be provided overseas it becomes very expensive. (I think this is one expense the royals in the future may be required to pay for themselves when not on official duties.)

Whilst most royalists won't begrudge royals an occasional holiday abroad, (note I said royalist because non-royalists are looking more and more closely at expenses) Harry has been abroad too much and some of his 'duties' are being questioned as an excuse to be out of the country. His duties at home have not been extensive, unlike other royals who may go abroad for personal reasons but also have high work numbers.

Harry needs desperately to stay home. Meghan on the other hand presumably isn't being protected by royal protection and could travel relatively inexpensively.

Many others, politicians, diplomats, are covered by protection as well, but the royals have the heaviest security and are the most noticeable. It's to be noted the queen has rarely traveled abroad for holidays with only a few exceptions. All other royals do, but they need to be careful not to overuse it.

    23. SG, you're more than welcome! :-) Personally, I do believe that Kate was not asked to sign one. A wee bit ironic no, considering her not being the "modern career woman" (in comparison to Maxima or Mary).

Julia, I don't know how often Harry has traveled to see Meghan, but I don' think it has been excessive. For the time being, I think a certain amount of travel is understandable. And, frankly, I suspect that he will accommodate her wishes to travel back home and that he, too, will consider his in laws as part of the equation, as William has done.

      Delete
    24. hmmm, rf. If Kate wasn't asked to sign one (and I also tend to believe she wasn't), what about Meghan? William and his family knew Kate's family (and ancestors). Meghan is the new kid on the block without the dating tenure Kate had. And she's a foreigner, lol.

  15. I'm so excited to see whats to come for our princess to be. She's beautiful, smart.elegant, and very classy and I think she will fit in the royal family just fine because she's literally Harry's other half. I think Meghan and Kate are going to be besties, imagine seeing them working together so much women power. I think Meghan's fashion is going to be iconic, her style is so chic, elegant, classy, and daring. Don't get me wrong I really love Kate but I feel like she's dressing a little to old for her age and I think Meghan might help her to step out of her shell one day. I have a huge feeling that they might engagement in December and have a summer wedding next year.

  16. I am so glad you included the video of Meghan and Jessica looking at wedding dresses. It was fun to see her "in her element". She seems so lovely - not just physically but personality wise.

Several have commented on the beautiful back of the wedding dress; I agree, but I think from the front it is terribly unflattering to Meghan. I trust her own will be much more flattering.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree. I love the back of the dress, but the front...not so much. It looks better on the model, IMHO.

      Delete
    2. Agreed, bristowmom. The dress is not a prize from the front. It's marginally better on the model; however, on Megan it's just wrong. The model has a belt but "Rachel" does not; in addition, the dress does not seem to have been properly adjusted and nipped in on "Rachel." Such details make a difference. If I were Ms. Mulroney I would have pointed that out when that choice was made. But perhaps they both didn't look at a photograph before deciding on the dress.

I almost made that mistake with my wedding dress. I had one chosen and went back for another look. While waiting to try it on again I flipped through the book of brides the shop had on hand. (Brides donated one of their wedding photos as part of the shop's marketing.) Fortunately, I saw "my" dress on another bride in a photograph. It photographed so badly that I dismissed that option and chose something infinitely superior.

There's so much to be considered in such a decision. More pressure when you know your choice will be in the history books for centuries to come.

  17. bristromom. Meghan is short-waisted, and as pretty as the dress is and as pretty as Meghan looks in the dress, a different bodice would have looked better in front since she is short-waisted. I so hope they take that into consideration for her next wedding gown. It just HAS to be perfect. lol

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. P.S. Since Meghan is so short-waisted, she often wears waist length crop tops (and they look cute on her). They have a lot of wedding gowns designed with crop tops these days (there is a famous-blond-young-beachy-female designer who started the trend but I don't know her name) but I don't know how appropriate a crop top wedding gown would be for a royal wedding. Again, I just hope they get the design, cut and style perfect for Meghan. Something perfectly different and beautifully unique. :)

  18. Now that Meghan has finished filming "Suits", we will see if the security unit that has kept her virtually invisible for the past months was indeed furnished by Universal Studios or Harry. IF she remains virtually invisible (going to yoga, walking the dogs, going grocery shopping, etc.) and appears only when she and Harry have public events, THEN we will know that it was Harry "hiding" her.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Bristomom. Yes. 🎉 A very good confirmation that Jessica will indeed most likely have input into the design of Meghan's ROYAL wedding gown.👰🏻 I truly believe that those two BFF's (and perhaps even Doria) will most totally, definitely work with a British designer. No contest. And probably a British up-and coming-one or even a British as-yet-unknown designer as Jessica and Sophie Trudeau made it a point to use up and coming Canadian designers when designing a wardrobe for Sophie. So the concept is very familiar to Jessica.

    1. I agree with Surfer Girl in my opinion I feel like Meghan's actual royal wedding gown is going to be very different from other royal brides. I have a huge feeling that Meghan's dress might be a little similar to Princess Charlene Of Monaco's wedding dress because it has a edgy vibe towards it and I know that will suit Meghan because her style is very edgy. I think Meghan should have a short train and a medium length veil because I think long veils and trains are very overrated. That is reason why I fell in love with Kate's wedding dress because it was beautiful, simple, elegant and classy and not over the top I hope Meghan can do the same thing for hers. Also what tiara do you think Meghan is going to wear? I think she should wear a tiara from the Queen's collection and her hairstyle should be in elegant updo so we can see the back of her dress well. Do you agree?:)

      Delete
    2. yep. I agree Davion that her hair should be up in an uber elegant updo with one of the Queen's tiaras. I also would like to see a shorter train (she's not going to be Queen, after all) and a medium length veil. Meghan's own design for her clothing brand was very simple, sexy but classy and timeless. Add a little historical wedding pizzaz, some artistic license, to that and voila', Meghan's wedding gown. Beautiful and unique. 👰🏻💐

    3. About the wedding gown, Davion, just ask Eve. lol (see her text above) :)

  20. Also, I have said before that I want to see more creative, looser updos on Kate. Sexy but still classy,
something like the updo Meghan has with the wedding gown, and with different variations of that. And with looser, less staid/tight/overworked chignons and a more perkily place ponytail on the days she wears a ponytail and .... (you get the idea, lol).
Of course, the caveat with that is Kate would probably need a new hair stylist. Like that's ever going to happen ....

    ReplyDelete
  21. It looks like the dress has been altered, probably at the waistline. The deep fold that lies midline on the model is hitched off to the side on Megan. It looks as though the bodice was separated from the skirt for alteration and then incorrectly replaced. Poor, unprofessional workmanship.
It is a gorgeous dress, as shown on the model.

    1. It´s what I thought the first time when she was supposed to be married (season 5) and they released pictures of her in the wedding dress. I thought: is this dress too big for her? Didn´t they have the right size? Did they have to alter it in a hurry? I have to go back and watch it "in motion" in that episode. Last time I saw it I was too much concentrating on the drama unfolding and therefore got distracted from the dress (what? Me? Getting distracted from a WEDDING DRESS? "Suits" MUST be a pretty gripping show, dear me...) ;-))))

  24. So Meghan supposedly IS moving her dogs to London (according to the latest news at least). And the Court Circular shows NO engagements for Prince Harry next week...except maybe two - celebrating his grandparents´ 70th wedding anniversary and then his own engagement? Just "pouring some oil into the fire" as we Germans say, hahaha, LOL!!

Quite honestly, if those two want to wait and first spend some time living together - FINE BY ME. Very wise in any case. How they are going to manage that "in real life", i.e. security-wise, paparazzi-wise, etc, etc, I don´t know, but am CURIOUS to know in any case.
If I was KP press office, I would just stop this game of "no comment" - which only leaves ample room for the dreaded speculation and only makes it even more attractive for paparazzi et al - and would just release a statement: "HRH Prince Harry and Mrs Meghan Markle have decided to take the next step in their relationship. Mrs Markle will complete her move to London this month and will take up residence with Prince Harry at Kensington Palace. Prince Harry and Mrs Markle would like to kindly ask to respect their space and privacy. They are looking forward to spending this valuable time for their relationship together and will be happy to announce any change in their status in due course. They would like to thank everybody in advance for their understanding and support."
That would take a lot of pressure off - and really show that the Monarchy has actually "arrived" in the 21st century - where you can´t hide anything or anyone anymore anyway (quite a number of "any"s here, right? LOL!!). So why not acknowledge it and "take the bull by the horns"? Even as a child I found this "a partner is non-existing to the Royal Family until the engagement is officially announced" quite puzzling, and, as I grew older, quite "derogatory" and "disrespectful" to the one in question. Especially, since "engagement fever" was always starting off anyway..including all negative things that come with it (hounded by the media, etc). So what, if they split up? Much better to do it the "official way" - instead of leaving it to the media to speculate about!! If people knew they get the "bits and pieces" from KP directly in due course, I´m sure they would be much less interested in tabloid reports - and photos for that matter....

    1. I 100% agree with you Eve I think when Meghan moves in with Harry she should take it easy while setting in London and then make the engagement announcement. Also you have a good point about Kensington Palace possibly not saying anything about Harry and Meghan's future status as a couple. When Meghan marries Harry I know for a fact that the paparazzi is going to hunt her down and I'm praying to God that they will leave this beautiful couple alone and that Harry protects her at all costs.

I have had the pleasure of sharing Thanksgiving dinner on both sides of the Atlantic and I can assure you turkey tastes just as good in London as LA.

If Harry goes to Los Angeles and is discovered, the headlines will say only one thing, and people will think only one thing, that he is trying to escape the British cold for a luxurious time in the sun at taxpayer expense. (It doesn't matter if it's pouring in Los Angeles - that will be how it seems.) It will make Meghan, already far from popular, since people would far rather see Harry marry a British girl, even more unpopular.

We are talking about the royal family. It's not what Harry needs to honour - it's what Meghan needs to honour. Almost all the burden will be on her. Look at the huge criticism William got by having Christmas with his in-laws - and that was a traditional Christmas in Berkshire - not an expensive jaunt across the Atlantic.

Should Harry and Meghan marry, she will be a British princess. She hopefully won't get a fake British accent - nothing sounds worse - think all the fuss about Kate changing her accent to allegedly sound more posh - but she will be relinquishing her American citizenship and most of what she knows there, to be able to represent her adopted nation and understand how they think. She will be spending her entire life there, like it or not. She will gain huge privileges, but at a substantial price. In time, she might be able to have holidays at home as Mary does, now there are children. It's to be recalled that Maxima couldn't even have her father at her wedding. There is a price for being royal - it could be even worse.

Harry has only one place he needs goodwill - he has spent too much time in the States, he has spent too much time in Africa, he has spent too much time in Canada. He is starting to be seen as reluctant to take on home duties and badly spoilt - and he needs urgently to spend time at home. It will be lovely if Meghan and her pups join him and if she gets a clear-eyed view of her life will be - and they are unlikely to be allowed to be royal mavericks (Sarah Ferguson once thought the same) They will never be allowed to outshine William and Kate. Then Meghan and Harry might marry and have a long and happy union - far better than a few hours at a dinner table and hopefully her mum, who sounds like a delightful lady, won't get the poor reputation of the Middletons for being overly pushy.

If I were Meghan, I would have a quiet holiday with my mum, and a quiet Christmas, then join Harry in the new year and see how the royal family works. And it sounds like that may be what she is doing at least this month.

      Delete
    13. Julia, I may not agree with you regarding some of the *current* travel/circumstances, but I agree 1000% regarding what will be allowed/expected going forward. Contrary to popular belief, H&M will not be permitted to become the UK's own Brad and Angelina.

      Delete
    14. No, Julia. They will think he went to his future mother in law's to spend what is likely to be Meghan's last Thanksgiving before she joins the royal family. And turkey may taste the same, but the traditions are not. I'm British, and I go to Thanksgiving dinner, and I confess I don't get it. It's a non holiday for me. So much so, my contribution is apple pie and custard. And you know what? The Americans will line up for it!

But over here it is a *family* holiday. Harry is about to join their family too.

    15. Julia from Leominster20 November 2017 at 18:25

I can't agree bluhare. Anytime a royal goes to a sunny climate when the weather is cold and wretched, it's assumed to be a sunshine holiday. Even Charles visiting islands in the Caribbean in support of hurricane victims is assumed to be doing it to escape the autumn chill. Yet if he didn't go, he would be seen as uncaring.

If Charles viewed that way, Harry, who has spent so much time abroad, will be too. I don't say that's right - but there was huge criticism of William spending Christmas with the Middletons. (Including by me due to the queen's health and age and my feeling royal traditions should remain in place as long as she is alive.)

Los Angeles is often viewed as paradise - especially when the Beckhams are being reported in lavish detail, and clearly by those who have never tried following signs on their roads and dealing with their traffic. (Sorry, Los Angeles!)

I enjoy Thanksgiving - but the oddest things happen to sweet potatoes! Did the puritans even have sweet potatoes let alone all those sugary toppings? One person I shared the holiday with baked them with butter which was much better.

You make apple pie, not the traditional pumpkin? The custard sounds divine though and very British although sadly fading away these days.

    16. I agree with Eve that it will be great to see Meghan and Harry live together before they get married. I predicted that they would get married in 2019 - I think that I was one of the few people on this blog. And I still stand by that. I think (or hope) that both have a good head on their shoulders (like me.. ha ha ..) and want to first let the relationship settle in a bit before they plunge into the craziness of the wedding and joining the royal family. The latter doesn't sound like a walk in the park and I am sure that Meghan, once she is familiar with all it entails, and once the heady rush of a new relationship has worn off, will realize that and think it through. So my advice to all of you who are counting the days till the engagement - hold your horses for a year or so.
About thanksgiving - I honestly don't care. I understand why MM would want to be in the US for it, and it would be nice for Harry to join them and get a taste of all of that.
What I don't want to see more of is that Jessica Mulroney woman. I loved that chirpy little video of MM (she is so natural) but I hated hated hated "Jess". I hope she won't be firmly attached to Meghan's hip going forward..

After members of the royal family have done due diligence of royal responsibilities for decades, I doubt they will curry any celebrity status upon Harry and Meghan. Simply not happening. No way. No how. Harry and Meghan will have to follow the program just like everyone else. Feminism or no feminism, even the Queen (one of the most influential females in the world for 60+ years, has had to follow the program.

Apple pie and custard sounds extremely delicious, I would definitely line up! I'm always curious to learn what other families thanksgiving menus entail, especially when they include family members from different nations and incorporate foreign customsms. As I've said before my family usually celebrates Thanksgiving in Puerto Rico (sadly not this year though 😢) and a traditional Puerto Rican Thanksgiving dinner has many differences to traditional continental menus. Additionally we have some different customs, like the whole family does our Christmas decorations on Thanksgiving day because in PR it is essentially considered the first day of Christmas. (We celebrate Christmas from Thanksgiving through el Día de los Reyes/Three Kings Day on Jan 6th, lol!)

    22. Finn, LOL!! You are worse than us Germans!! Here in the South, we have a mixed population of Catholics and Protestants, so we also celebrate the "Dia de los Reyes" (bless the Spanish language, that sounds so much nicer than "Heilige Drei Könige" in German! ;-)) ) - so Protestants get an extra public holiday, too, whereas people in the North (with mainly Protestants) have to go to work, usually on the 2nd of January! Schools and many companies are closed from Christmas Eve through to the 6th of January here in the South - so we´re quite lucky!
Thanks for your info about Puerto Rican traditions - I love hearing about all these different traditions so much!
Thanksgiving in Germany is always on a Sunday and it´s mainly a "church thing", meaning you don´t have any special celebrations at home, only a special service at your church, thanking God for the harvest... But who knows, we started with Halloween a few years ago, we might end up with a "real" Thanksgiving one day.... :-))))

For me it has always been the holiday I spend with my extended PR family, so it has always had a lot of meaning for me personally.
@Eve The German traditions sound lovely also. When I spend Thanksgiving in PR I usually attend a Thanksgiving Day Mass also. I didn't know that Germany has such a long holiday season, Puerto Ricans are NOTORIOUS for our prolonged and over-the-top Christmas season celebrations, and it is often joked about that we have the longest Christmas season of the year. 25. Meghan's Thanksgiving will be spent with her mom in Los Angeles, according to Caroline Graham, Daily Mail, "Meghan Markle Really is the Luckiest Girl in the World", 11/18/17. She didn't say how she knew that, so.

AND, according to Thomas Markle, Jr.,
Thomas Markle, Sr. won $750,000 via the lottery when Meghan was nine years old. Thomas said that was a help to the family and allowed Meghan to attend a nice private high school and go to Northwestern University. Apparently she had scholarships to other colleges but wanted to go to Northwestern. Although, at the height of his career as a lighting director for television, Thomas Sr. was making $200,000 a year. So, like Kate, Meghan was not lacking in advantages while growing up.
Caroline travelled to Grant's Pass, Oregon, where Thomas Jr. lives and interviewed him there. The interview is in the article listed above. Nice read.

    1. Generally this article says what I've been saying - although I would always say if rather than when. I do think the quiet months of January or February would be the most likely time if an engagement is to come soon - with early July as a possible date. Late June seems unlikely to me due to Ascot and mid July draws near to the unhappy times of Charles and Diana's marriage, although not impossible,

I do think since the queen is head of the church - and like Charles and Camilla who married After 2002 - there would be a civil service followed by an order of blessing - rather than a church service. This would help avoid public resentment. What 2002 did was allow vicars discretion to marry divorced people but many still require an order of blessing - which means many of the public have still been denied a full church service. (This isn't my idea - just how it is.) That's one reason civil services in approved licensed buildings have become very popular but that's not an option for Harry. I do think St. George's would be the venue. Personally, I would love to see Harry wed in St. Giles, Edinburgh - it would be a huge boost to Scotland and could fit when the court's at Holyrood, but this isn't too likely. If Meghan remains his choice, I think because of Meghan's divorced status - this won't be a full white wedding - something more like Charles and Camilla but more youthful - full white, veil and tiara for divorced is seen as rather vulgar in upper circles - as I said, very footballer wives.

Lady Elizabeth Anson is still out there planning so it's likely she'll do it. I don't think Meghan would be a duel citizen - I've heard there can be serious tax consequences. Not sure if the title matters since it would come from Harry. And because immigration is hugely sensitive, I suspect if Meghan does come to stay, there will be an effort to do everything right. The royal family has not had an easy time of late with the Paradise Papers - and no, people haven't forgotten. With Grenfell still in people's minds and so much uncertainty, I don't think there is much enthusiasm for a big expensive royal event at the moment - one reason why the queen has a quiet anniversary. Moods can change though.

    3. I had forgotten about Lady Elizabeth Anson. She definitely could be a wealth of help to Meghan. I do hope they become friends. Duel taxes is a consideration. If Doria moves to London that might help Meghan not be quite so longing for California and duel citizenship made a moot point. They can all visit there in the future.
Definitely made me think about the wedding, Julia. If Charles and Camilla had to do their wedding that way I don't know how Harry and Meghan could rationalize not doing likewise, for political and protocol reasons. Good point.

Pip says hello - I thought I had him on the other post on Duchess Kate too, where I mention him but he didn't show - perhaps he's hiding due to my ghastly typing - I really do proof my pro work but often rush here. I must see what I did wrong to exclude him.

Be sure to look at the paintings I mention - such delightful little spaniels.

Due to how Charles and Camilla had their wedding, due to the queen being head of the church and quite conservative in her views, (in spite of her family), and most of all due to the many who have been denied the full sacrament because of divorce, I don't see how they could avoid it either. It really wouldn't matter, the service is still lovely, moving and quite formal -(and we would see a civil service outfit as happens in many European countries routinely.)

The style for divorce in the aristocratic classes does tend to frown on making it look like a first marriage - so if that's honoured which I believe would be wise, it would be a little less 'first bridal'. That doesn't make it less wonderful.

I still would love Scotland where divorce is not an issue and a procession from St. Giles to Holyrood would be splendid - perhaps with the appropriate Scots guards - oh, now you have me dreaming...

    5. surfer girl: Charles and Camilla married just three years after the Church of England had officially changed their mind(s) about divorcees remarrying in church. Charles and Camilla had/have very different backgrounds/positions compared to Harry and Meghan. They were much older when they married, too. Can you imagine a "full-blown royal wedding" for two people in their late 50ies, the bride in "all-white" - and all of this considering the fact that these two were Charles and Camilla - the two who destroyed the "fairytale of Charles and Diana"? No matter what one thinks about the whole story, it would have been utterly unthinkable in so many ways and aspects....
Harry has never been married before, Meghan´s marriage was very short, with no kids (in contrast to Charles´s and Camilla´s), they are both still quite young, plus, 15(!!) years have passed since the Church of England has changed its position on that subject. Last, but not least, Harry is not the next "Head of the Church of England"... So, the two situations are quite different.
As far as taxes are concerned: there are "double-tax treaties" between the US and the UK, implemented in order to help citizens with dual citizenship or citizens working/living abroad AVOID double tax pay. I´m sure Harry will have the respective specialists available should they opt for a dual citizenship for Meghan.
There are "pros and cons" regarding Doria moving to London. I can imagine she has all her friends and maybe family in L.A.. In London it would only be Meghan and Harry. It would be a huge change in her life, no friends, no work, but lots of attention of the "unwanted kind". She would be very dependent on Meghan - and no matter how good you get on with your daughter, that´s not the best way to start a new life in a new country - for both of them. Personally, if my daughter was getting married "at the other side of the planet", I would HUGELY miss her - but I would most definitely give her and her hubby-to-be some space. Maybe later on move somewhere a bit closer - but only if I myself truly loved it there. Otherwise chances are good you end up resenting the whole thing - and that more often than not also strains the relationship with you child in most unfortunate ways....

    6. Julia and Eve. Good points all around. :)
It will be interesting to see how it will all turn out. So many variables. I truly don't think we will have to wait long to see this all play out as I wasn't expecting Meghan in London for Thanksgiving at all. Even though some might not want things to progress quickly (and I can see the wisdom in that), I think things are going to progress very quickly.

As for the newness of the wedding, I obviously hope that happens but I am leaning more towards thinking that the scenario Julia mentioned is more likely. In the U.S., often a bride wears white, has a big first-type wedding, even if it is her second or third or.... wedding. lol
Jennifer Lopez, etc. The nobility and aristocracy may play musical marital chairs and have many marriages and such but I don't recall a lot of repeats of the first-wedding type weddings. Harry may insist on it for Meghan though - the big first wedding. It is his first wedding. :)

Did we see what the Queen wore to their 70th anniversary? I hope there are photos.
Was Meghan there? If so, wouldn't that mean for sure that they are engaged?

I have so many questions, lol. I am so excited. :)

      Pippin. hugs to you. 🐾❤️

    8. Julia, consider the qualifications that Diana had to meet vs. Sarah. I see a somewhat similar scenario this time around and I think it's reasonable to anticipate a lower key, yet still very royal wedding.

    9. :-) I really do think it's reasonable ...

  28. If reports are true that Meghan flew to London on Saturday, we might be in for the "double solution": Spending the wedding anniversary with her "new" family and then Thanksgiving - maybe as a "last time" of the "old times" (i.e. NOT as a Royal, but in the "our time"-sense that she mentioned in the VF interview) with her own family and Harry. I´d consider that a perfect solution, especially if they plan an engagement announcement rather sooner than later.... Somehow this would be the "bridge-building" we all so desperately need in this world.... As Jesus said in the Bible: 'give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's'. As citizens of this world we can do both: honour our "familiy-of-origin" AND our "family-by-marriage". What a wonderfully integrating signal Meghan and Harry would send to the world and both their countries if they were going to go for the "double solution".....not to mention a good amount of "bonding-time" which always is a good ingredient for a solid foundation of any relationship that everyone wants to last.....

  29. Bianca London, Daily Mail, reported that a source told "Hello" magazine that Meghan was seen "jetting into London" this past Saturday. So, she said that they said that they said. hmmm. "Meghan Seen Jetting into London ....".

  30. Julia. Will Harry and Meghan be required to have a coat of arms when they marry? Will Meghan have to design hers to join with Harry's like Michael Middleton did for his family?
And, do you think Meghan's mom, Doria, will move to London? (I personally think she will.)

There are major immigration issues - I suspect long visits are more likely - although a wise mum (in Julia's opinion) maintains a pleasant distance, especially a discreet public one, with a daughter possibly marrying into the royal family.

(Julia's own mum was completely loved by Leo and Julia was an utter Mary Mack, but they still always made certain to let us holiday without them and insisted we spend Christmas with Leo's family.)

It would be nice if they buy Doria a washer-dryer if she needs one but I suspect she was just taking a duvet to the launderette.

    2. Julia - she was washing her comforters and large bedding. She was also seen packing them into the back of her Lexus SUV.

    3. Julia. And Doria was also taking her comforters home to her $700,000 home. :) (About the purchase of a washer and dryer, I had hoped the same thing Julia and felt quite perturbed at Meghan, to be honest, at the thought of her mother having to lug her laundry to and from a laundromat.) But upon further study, it wasn't as many of the headlines made it seem. (surprise, surprise.) lol

Meghan is indeed in London so looks like she will be cooking her turkey in Kensington. There's a suggestion royal protection is with her - I suspect an aide is more likely.

Carrying a hugely expensive bag - not at all to my taste. I tolerate royals wearing expensive clothes reasonably well but confess I'm always horrified by this worship of designer bags. She looks very Hollywood with her sunglasses - more Beckham than Buckingham at this hour. She's such a lovely girl but needs to lose the celebrity style.

  33. 🇬🇧 It is confirmed. Meghan is in London. The Daily Mail has photos of her shopping with a friend, coming out of a beachwear store, holding a €2,000 designer purse and a bag of skincare from a London skincare store.
Who is her friend? Anyone know? Meghan is bundled up but her friend isn't. Was it cold in London today?
"Buying a Gift for Someone Meghan", Bianca (I forget her last name, sorry.)
I would have thought Meghan would have gone to Los Angeles to share Thanksgiving with her mom and then travelled to London. Leads me to believe that Doria might be traveling to London for Thanksgiving in London or in a place where Meghan will be wearing her new beachwear. ⛱ She surely hurried to London.
    Are those guys already engaged?

Movers were seen outside her home there yesterday and today. Her stuff is being put in storage all except for her personal stuff and Guy and Bogart ❤️ will be staying with Doria in Los Angeles until Meghan gets settled. Hold on to your hats everyone it is going to get busy.

  35. Nope, Julia. Sweet potatoes were not part of the first Thanksgiving, nor were mashed potatoes (yikes, lol)
(no mashed potatoes), nor were cranberries. Those were introduced into the country years later. At least according to Smithsonian magazine. Most likely the starch of that day was a corn porridge they say and a roasted or boiled or boiled and also roasted goose or duck would have had pre-eminence at their table that year with wild turkey, a now extinct type of pigeon and deer as secondary. And, no college football games. :)
