Duchess Meghan is Joined by Serena Williams to Watch the Princes Play Polo!

I do love the royal summer season. From the regal fashions at Royal Ascot, to calendar staples such as Trooping the Colour, and of course polo appearances, it can always be relied upon to deliver a good portion of the best photos every year. The princes played in the Audi Polo Challenge today and, to the delight of royal watchers, Duchess Meghan was there.

It was a beautiful day for a summery outing.

The Duchess was joined by her close friend Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian. Meghan and Serena have been close for several years; the tennis superstar is in England ahead of her first match at Wimbledon on Monday. An afternoon of polo provided the perfect opportunity for the pair to catch up and enjoy stunning surroundings at Coworth Park. We mentioned the possibility we could see the Duchess at Wimbledon during the week to support Serena.

Below, Meghan chatting with Mark Dyer. Mark has been one of the most influential figures in Harry's life and is often dubbed "a second father". Captain Dyer, a former Welsh Guards officer, worked as an equerry for Prince Charles in the '90s. He regularly drove to Eton to take William out for lunch and advised Harry about Sandhurst. Mark founded the management company MDM Bars and Pubs in 2009 and runs two public houses, the Sand’s End and the Brown Cow, in south-west London, both frequented by Prince Harry. When Mark married Amanda Kline, a Texan heiress, in 2010, Harry was an usher.

Mark accompanied Meghan to the polo last year and his son Jasper was a pageboy at the royal wedding.

Meghan spent time with a little girl in a pink dress - it is thought she's Mark Dyer's daughter.

Meghan was all smiles at the event.

Harry, who returned to London last week following several days in Lesotho on behalf of his charity Sentebale, and William, who completed a historic tour in the middle east, donned their white breeches and took to the polo field on behalf of two charities very close to their hearts: WellChild and Tusk Trust.

Coworth Park is a luxury retreat set on 240 acres of picturesque Berkshire parkland. The estate features an eco-luxury spa with an indoor pool and three restaurants. The rooms have stunning views of the lime grove, meadows and polo fields. Harry spent the night before the royal wedding there with William.

William and Harry's team were victorious.

The Duchess selected the Shoshanna Sleeveless Belted Gingham Eyelet Dress (with thanks to UFO No More). The gingham midi dress features an A-line silhouette, cut-in shoulders and a self-tie belt. The dress was a lovely choice for the polo; it's been a while seen we've seen Meghan's "off duty" style, and it was very nice to get another peek into her non-work wardrobe.

Meghan wore her Madewell x Baltimore Panama hat.

And wore her Sarah Flint Grear Sandals. The pair Meghan wore are an older style but the very similar updated Grear sandals are available for £275 (with thanks to What Meghan Wore).

It looked like a lovely afternoon was had by all!

Great to Meghan enjoying the polo. I went to Tetbury to see a polo match with a friend years ago and Prince Harry was playing, it was a lovely atmosphere and I managed to get several close up picture of him smiling as he received the winners trophy. I guess these days the public wouldn’t be allowed so close. I wonder if Kate & the children were there too.

    1. If Kate and the children were there, we would undoubtedly have seen photos unless they were inside a tent or something the entire time.

  12. Meghan looks both casual and lovely on a summers day. Love that she is wearing Shoshanna an American designer that is always casual but feminine and girly. Her sandals compliment the dress perfectly.

  14. Duchess Meghan looked lovely and happy, enjoying polo with dear friends while supporting her hubby & important charities. Her Madewell hat and Sarah Flint sandals still look great after all these years. 2 years ago, Meghan wore the hat while supporting Serena at Wimbledon, wonder if we’ll be fortunate to see her there again this year? 17. Nice to see Meghan as herself. This looks like how she dressed before joining the royal family. June and July are fun months to be royal fans. Thanks for the coverage. Obviously we’ll see Meghan at Serena’s matches at Wimbledon this week.

  18. Very lovely summer outfit with that look of "effortlessly chic." Can anyone ID her sunglasses? Thanks. Also, is it OK for me to say that Harry looks smoking hot??

  19. Totally appropriate and mega comfortable look today on Meghan. The dress is still neutral in colour but it is not pink nor white. Given that the temperatures are so hot in Britain right now, Meghan made some good choices.

  22. I love this dress on Meghan. She looks comfortable and chic all at the same time. Very California. :-) Perfect dress for a day out in the sunshine to cheer on her prince. Super cute sandals as well.

And nice to see Serena out for a day of relaxation. She must be training quite a bit for Wimbledon. I'm guessing we'll Meghan there at least one day.

  23. These pictures of Meghan really make me smile as she radiates happiness. I believe that this style of Meghan's, which she has shown over the years, was a huge factor in Harry's smitten love for her, thus their marriage! Fun fun fun.

  25. I love that she basically wore the same outfit as Julia Roberts stayed in "Pretty Woman"… It was one of my favorites from the movie !

    1. Yes, I like the dress, gloves, and hat. The Duchess of Sussex has a megawhite smile, and looks radiant! Her dress reminds me of Reese Witherspoon's Draper James line of clothing. Gingham and seersucker are a "go to" fabric to keep cool in the Deep South. Parthenia

    2. Amber, I did have a moment of "Pretty Woman" as well. This is definitely more casual but the beige and white did conjure up the Pretty Woman memories.

    3. Pretty Woman, yes! 😊 She looks cool and fresh.

  26. "Effortless chic." Light-colored gingham dress with button front, self/tie belt, mid-length, full skirt...perfect for cheering Hubby at Polo. On the model it was buttoned up to the chin. Meghan opened up the neckline for a more relaxed, cooler look and tied the sash in a bow in the front, compared to a side-bow on the model. What the well-dressed Royal wife wears for a summer sports outing.

  27. I just came back from Canada and while I was there I treated myself to a pair of Birks earrings :) The Rock & Pearl cluster, which are fairly inexpensive compared to what I REALLY would have liked to have bought (the Snowflake.) But they are very lovely regardless and I feel very glam when I wear them.

    3. Isn't it fun when you get something that the royals wear, Valerie! I recently bought a beanie from the Barts brand (I think one that Kate wore to their last ski trip). My life mostly involves walking my dogs on a cold, frosty Melbourne morning, and not so much downhill skiing these days, but I feel glamorous nevertheless, and it is ultra comfortable!!

  29. It is really wonderful that Harry is getting to know Meghan's friends considering most of them live across the pond.

    1. I was just thinking that, USA Granny! I think it is lovely that Meghan has some high profile friends to bring to the mix. It balances out all the royal relations and is suitable for the Sussex couple who are not in any immediate "danger" of inheriting the throne (joke/irony 😉).

    2. I think “danger” is probably the right word, from Harry’s POV. He’s been pretty clear over the years that being the king is the last thing on earth he’d want. Which is good; you wouldn’t want any rivalry/jealousy issues in that direction. Although William may privately envy Harry for *not* having to do it. :-)

  30. Love this dress and really love the cute casual sandals. I also like that Meghan's off-duty style and on-duty style are sort of the same. She prefers midi-length skirts, neutral colors, and obviously loves shirt dresses.

    1. Agreed Celeste, if one can wear scandals instead of high heels why not, and she took the advantage of this laid back occasion to relax her toes and heels. She looks very pretty in that dress!

  36. Such a nice summer look, and she seems to be enjoying herself. That hat suits her. Maybe the overall shape can be translated into her working wardrobe?

  37. I love that she is wearing open toe sandals bucking the royal requirement.

    1. She's not at an official royal event so the "requirement," if there is one, wouldn't apply here.

    2. I love the dress. I remember it was reported that Kate was wearing a brown gingham sundress when walking Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte in Kensington Gardens shortly after Louis's birth. I wonder if it was the same dress.

  39. Good to see our lovely Meghan off duty and having some time with her friends. Love the dress, and her signature panama hat !
I wonder if we'll see Meghan at Wimbledon on Monday, if that is Serena's first match ? In the past Kate usually attends on the first day as their patron. It would be lovely to see both our lovely Duchesses in the Royal box tomorrow.

  40. Meghan looks really nice today, cool and comfortable but wow Harry's hot in his polo uniform!! Is it just me or has Harry gotten even sexier over the last month or so? The looks he gives Meg sometimes take my breath away! Lucky girl!

I have to say that a large part of Meghan's appeal to me is the fact that she seems to have lots of close girlfriends. As someone who has a tough time making friends and has gone through the loss of a long term and close friendship recently, I'm really in awe of her easy going nature and ability to maintain close, long term friendships.
