Three Evening Events Announced as Harry and Meghan's Autumn Calendar Begins to Fill Up!

Autumn Evening Events... Harry and Meghan's summer break is coming to an end next week when they resume engagements. It will mark the beginning of several very busy months for the royal couple who married three months ago at Windsor. Kensington Palace confirmed the couple will kick off their Autumn schedule with three evening events. On Wednesday 29 August, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will attend a gala performance of Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre.

The evening will raise awareness and funds for Sentebale's work with children and young people affected by HIV. The fundraising evening follows a hugely successful polo match hosted by the couple last month which raised over £1 million for the charity.

People reports:

'The couple, who took in a performance of the hit show during a private date night around Valentine’s Day earlier this year, will be the guests of honor, alongside the show creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda. The trio will meet the cast and crew on the stage of London’s Victoria Palace Theatre.
Miranda, who has been in Wales recently, and the royal couple will also address the audience, Kensington Palace said.'

Readers might recall Harry and Meghan are huge fans of the hit West End show. In mid February, they enjoyed a post-Valentine's date night at the Victoria Palace Theatre - just two miles from their home at Kensington Palace.

Meghan also saw Hamilton in New York in 2016 with friend Priyanka Chopra.

On Tuesday 4 September, the Duke and Duchess will attend the WellChild Awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel. WellChild is the national charity for seriously ill children and their families. Across the UK, growing numbers of children remain in hospital simply because there is no support enabling them to leave. Through a nationwide network of WellChild Nurses, home makeover projects and family support programmes, WellChild is committed to giving these children the best chance to thrive – at home, together with their families. Prince Harry became Patron of WellChild in 2007 and has attended their awards ceremony on a number of occasions. It's always a deeply moving night on the royal calendar. The couple will attend a pre-ceremony reception where they will meet the young winners of each category and their families. It's wonderful Meghan will be joining Harry to support a truly wonderful organisation.

On Thursday 6 September, the Duke and Duchess will attend 100 Days To Peace - a gala concert in aid of mental health charities Heads Together, Help for Heroes and Combat Stress. Presented by the Royal Amouries, the one-off concert at Central Hall will mark the centenary of the end of the First World War.

More on what to expect from the evening:

'The highlight of the evening’s programme will be Sir Karl Jenkins conducting his internationally acclaimed work The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, performed by the Royal Choral Society and the Philharmonia Orchestra. This will be the only performance of ‘The Armed Man’ in England in 2018 to be conducted by Sir Karl himself. Renowned soprano singer, musician and broadcaster, Lesley Garrett CBE, will join Sir Karl to host and sing at this unique event. All proceeds from this event will go to three charities working to support military veterans facing mental health challenges: Help for Heroes, Combat Stress and Heads Together – The Royal Foundation’s campaign and mental health initiative.
At the end of the First World War many thousands of men returned home suffering from shell-shock. With minimal understanding of the condition, many did not benefit from the type of support which is increasingly available today. Although circumstances have changed significantly over the last 100 years, we are ever more aware of the number of veterans who continue to need support because they suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety or depression.'

Tickets for the event are available via Ticketmaster.

I'm very excited to see the coming months unfold. All three events are incredibly interesting and in support of very worthy causes. Meghan is very keen to support causes close to Harry's heart including Sentebale and WellChild. As the fourth patron of The Royal Foundation, we can expect to see her involvement in mental health campaign Heads Together. The fundraising gala on 6 September will benefit the initiative. In terms of Meghan's sartorial choices, we can expect to see evening dresses (possibly cocktail length) and perhaps a sleek trouser suit like the sharp McQueen look she wore for the Endeavour Fund Awards.

Fashion Updates... We also have several fashion updates to share with you today. The All Saints Ridley jumper Meghan wore in Birmingham earlier this year is back in stock. The $260 is described as "A relaxed silhouette, the Ridley Sweater is made from a wool and cashmere blend. Volume in the body with a slouchy funnel neckline to contrast with fitted sleeves."

Meghan's much loved $58 Madewell x Batimore hat is back in stock (with thanks to the lovely ladies at What Meghan Wore for the tip).

Ahead of Autumn/Winter, Mackage has restocked both Meghan's Elodie and Mai Coats.

Lake Como With The Clooneys... Emily Andrews confirms Harry and Meghan spent several days with George and Amal Clooney in Lake Como. Emily reports: They enjoyed dinner al fresco under the stars, a cruise on the lake and Harry shot hoops with George while Meghan spent time with Ella and Alexander Clooney, George & Amal’s 14-month-old twins. A lot of time was spent splashing around in the pool at Villa Oleandra. Sweet!"

Italian media reports they were there from 16-18 August. George and Amal were guests at the royal wedding.

Contrary to a number of reports, royal correspondent Rebecca English tweeted "Meghan isn't in Canada or LA and won't be going there any time soon." Before the couple resume engagements next week, we might see a Balmoral sighting :)

  1. Glad to see announcements about upcoming engagements being made already........time to shift the the focus to something more meaningful. Not surprised either to find that the reported trip to Toronto/LA was inaccurate. 😏

  5. Thank you for the updates!. I remember reading an article of Harry's appearance at WellChild and it was very touching. Harry was remarkable, his warmth and compassion very evident. He seems to be just wonderful with children. I remember his saying in an interview that it would be nice to have someone to share his royal duties with, and it's wonderful that he has found his "someone" in Meghan.

    1. Harry is wonderful with children from what I've seen, and I've been touched by the photos of him engaging with these children at WellChild. He's got a way about him that way. A bit like his mother, It hink.

  6. It is exciting to see that they are true to their word and will be busy working in support of wonderful causes. We will be spoiled having the opportunity to perhaps see the happy couple on a regular basis as they draw interest to important organizations. As Harry said, "there is a lot to do" and Meghan is very use to working. End of year work engagements numbers will be interesting considering the short time she will be a member of the RF. Can't wait for the Fall schedule to begin.

    9. You guys are wonderful. Thank you. I don't know how much Maggie would want me to share, so I'm going to be nebulous, but all is not yet lost. A lot depends on how well Maggie pulls through this crisis. If we all pull for her, it can only help!

Thank you again. I'll make sure she knows how many people are thinking of her and wishing her well.

    10. Maggie will be in my prayers. Of course most of us remember her; I look forward for her speedy recovery and read some of her very interesting posts here.

Bluhare - What you are doing lifts the spirit. Although this is an on line blog and many people may not have formed personal friendships through direct contacts, it is as if we "know" people from their posts. Your thoughtful contribution during Maggie's challenging time is sincerely thoughtful. Stay well and good.

    17. If you checked Duchess Kate, you don't need to read this one!

Maggie knows her internet friends are rallying behind her. Her friend told her when she woke up once and got a big smile.

Maggie got out of surgery, and the surgeons are optimistic. Yesterday, they weren't sure if she would have it, but she did. Now we hope she recovers well.

  10. Thank you Charlotte for your post. Very exciting that future engagements are on schedule and that we will see H. among children. I saw the photos and videos from last years' Well Child events and it was so touching. H. has a natural, warming, and let me say in a good sense, "childish"/fun approach. It will be nice to see M. sharing the duty and his joy.
Also... I am so pleased they went away for holiday and came to Lake Como! So close to were I live. Not the same house as George, though.;)
Can't wait to see them in action at future events and for worthy causes!
And who knows...maybe Balmoral, too... If I remember well, we haven't seen Meghan at Balmoral, yet. Let's see!

About 15 minutes if you travel by car. It's located on Victoria St about two miles from Kensington Palace. Have a wonderful time at Les Mis, it's one of my favourite musicals :)

  18. I like the styling posts, so I’ll do one for these three events. All these looks are by British designers and all are under 500 pounds, all accessories would be repeats. I’m also doing both dress codes, since it could be long dress or cocktail dress.

    1. sofy - your selections have come close and intact in a couple of occasions about the same in the past. This time, the closest to MM style is the one you picked for Well Child / the " ballka" / the large white polka over black dress. The rest, are you sure?

This space focuses on Harry and Meghan, not any other member of the Royal family. It's not the place to discuss politics either. Thank you for reading, we look forward to your comments :)
