Meghan Wears 'the Husband Shirt' for First Official Appearance with Prince Harry!

It's the appearance we've been all been waiting for! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their official public debut as they arrived hand in hand to watch the Invictus Games wheelchair tennis semi-final at Nathan Phillips Square.

A video of their arrival.

It's a defining moment in Harry and Meghan's relationship - proving how serious the relationship is. Meghan attended the opening ceremony with her close friend Markus Anderson, but this is an entirely different ball game. It's the perfect venue for them to make their debut - Invictus is incredibly important to Harry, and Toronto has been a second home to Meghan for the past six years. The informal, relaxed feel at the Games offered the perfect backdrop. Both will know the world's media are watching.

The couple were all smiles and enjoyed talking and laughing as they cheered on the participating teams.

Harry and Meghan watched New Zealand take on Australia.

One of the most interesting aspects of the appearance is seeing them interacting together. One can say they are very much at ease and thoroughly enjoying each other's company.

They are quite clearly a couple very much in love :)

The Telegraph reports:

'Ms Markle slotted into her public duties immediately, making conversation with children at the court side and applauding the tennis match in front of her.'

The Invictus Games publicly thanked Meghan for supporting competitors participating in wheelchair tennis via the official Twitter account.

Team New Zealand were victorious in the end. In the video below, a member of the winning team describes his Invictus experiences as "the best ride" he's ever been on.

Afterwards, Meghan joined Harry in congratulating participants and meeting those involved in the games.

Royal reporter Rebecca English noted the pair also left hand in hand: "Do you know the one thing that struck me as I watched Prince Harry and Meghan Markle courtside today? Just how happy and relaxed they are. Perhaps she was quietly nervous, but hid it well. The buzz around her was like water off a duck's back".

Emily Andrews added: "I also think it says a lot they're holding hands so publicly. They know they're going to be pictured: and that's the pic they want."

Meghan opted for casual chic when choosing an outfit for today. The white shirt and jeans combo is very much a 'go to' staple of her style. The talented Laura quickly identified the shirt as a piece by Meghan's close friend Misha Nonoo.

The crisp cotton style is called...wait for it...'the Husband Shirt' and retails for $185. It's available at Spring, Farfetch and Misha Nonoo's website.

The shirt is described:

'Every brand claims to have “the perfect white shirt.” Not us. We know our crisp cotton poplin shirt is no angel. Sure, it looks prim and proper, peeking out from our black blazer, but don’t be fooled. This top has a wild side. It’s often spotted in the early morning hours of our Instagram feeds haphazardly tucked into our wide-leg pants, held together by only one metal shank. The closures are specifically designed to easily transition from day to play. Button them all the way up for work then unfasten three or four and you’re ready to hit the town. So no, this shirt isn’t perfect, but where’s the fun in perfect anyway.'

Born in Bahrain, raised in London, and educated in Paris, Misha Nonoo’s multicultural upbringing exposed her to a diverse collection of references. Her work showcases a unique outlook for the modern multifaceted woman. Offering versatile pieces at accessible price points, her collection is progressive yet classic, with both smart and sexy details that support women from 9am to 9pm. Misha won industry recognition when she became a finalist for the 2013 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, and was named one of Forbes’ 30 under 30 as well as one of Crain’s New York Business’ 40 under 40. Below we see Meghan and Misha with close friend Markus Anderson on holiday in Madrid last year.

Meghan also wore her Sarah Flint 'Natalie' flats in saddle. They retail for $495.

Meghan carried the Everlane Day Market tote bag in cognac (with thanks to What Meghan Wore). Made from Italian leather, the bag retails for $165.

Meghan accessorised with her Zofia Day Dash Ear Studs.

You might recall she sported the pretty pair on the cover of Vanity Fair.

A closer look at Meghan's bracelet and rings.

Meghan's Mirror discovered the sunglasses are the Finlay & Co Percy Tortoise with Grey Lens.

It was a wonderful first appearance, and hopefully not the last we'll see this week. Despite the attention they knew would be on them, they both appeared incredibly relaxed. It was lovely to see Meghan meeting competitors, and for her very much like a 'first royal engagement'. She's evidently a people person and that shone through in the photos. Without a doubt, I believe she would make a fantastic addition to the British Royal family.

  2. surfer girl, you're one step closer to nirvana!

PS I love a great white shirt. Not sure this one is it, but I truly love a great white shirt.

    1. bluhare, I must say I am elated, lol. :)

Finally after all these months and the crowd seemed so happy for them. And Harry didn't look distracted or aloof in these photos. cool.

I love white shirts also. Glad she played it classic casual, and I love that her shoes and purse match. :)
I know. So old school. :)

    2. bluhare I thought I could hear surfer girl screaming from here ;)

I agree on the white shirt and not sure this is it either. Can I risk the wrath of everyone and say I wish she was not quite so dishevelled? Just a teeny bit more tailored?

I know, I know, I'm a fuddy duddy. It was just a little too much "rolled out of bed" look. Though with these two you never know... ;) Beat you to it bluhare!

But her look is secondary of course, it was great to see them together, terrific cause that they're promoting this week - I imagine the athletes love this attention!

    3. I also like matching bags and shoes, surfer girl. Always have and I doubt I'll change, although I did mix it up for the DKB design thingy. I was afraid I'd be called too matchy matchy if I didn't.

Harry was pretty casual too, Claudia. I'm ok with her outfit, although I'd agree with you and say I'd like her shirt to be a bit more crisp looking. Like one of those Brooks Brothers no iron ones. Love them.

    4. I agree Claudia. I'm all for the Casual look, but I wish she was maybe not quite as casual today. But still really great overall though. And I agree with the others, they seem very comfortable in each other's presence

    5. Love them too bluhare! I could have done without the hole in the knee (yes I hear everybody groaning!) and a thin belt would have worked. Just a teeny bit of tailoring, but still very casual like Harry. But Lord yes I know I'm nitpicking. She looked fantastic and happy. Most importantly they *both* looked very happy :) Best of luck to them.

And you know what it says a lot that in this big moment, she dressed for who she is, not for who people *think* she should be. This is a rock steady woman I do believe.

    6. OOHHH. I certainly did not expect this today. Lovely surprise and of COURSE they are engaged. Just look at them. It's obvious. My bet - they will announce next month as soon as Invictus is over and there is an opening in their calendars.

Clothes: Come now Claudia. You can hardly buy anything other than these boyfriend jeans. I am 39 and these are staple for casual events like this. I think she looked fantastic. I am so glad that she didn't try extra hard. She went as herself. I have that Everlane tote - it's fine. I can't say I adore it - it's fine. But it's for ballet runs and soccer runs and things like that.. Weekend running around.

bluhare - the BB ones are way tighter and much much more formal. I have four in four neutrals and wear them to death. I especially love the little pleats at the cuff. But I would never wear them on the weekends. They are strictly go-to work shirts for me when I have no energy to put together something creative but need to look professional.

    7. You need to try the men's styling, Rosman. Nice and big. They aren't all form fitting although I do have a couple of those too. But I think they are the best shirts ever for work as I have an iron allergy and cannot iron. My hands just won't grip one! :)

      Delete
    8. lol, that's funny, bluhare. :)

    9. Claudia, I did give find some Harry and Meghan photos I hadn't seen yet today and gave out a little scream just for you. :) The neighbor's little Chihuahua didn't appreciate it though. lol

      Delete
    10. Claudia, you're not a fuddy duddy. Or at least not the only one! ;-)

I like the idea overall - it's classic - but a matching belt and slightly neater jeans would have been a nicer look IMO.

      Delete
    11. I have the same allergy bluhare LOL. I might try the men's line. Slouchy you say.. that could work.

      Delete
    12. Rosman you're quite right, I know! I just wish she had subtracted *one* of the super casual things.

I agree with royalfan it's a very classic look, but the shirt, the hole in the knee, and the frayed edges were too much together. I personally would have subtracted the hole in the knee, added a thin belt and bob's your uncle she would have been fabulous in my mind! The shoes and tote were perfection.

I don't want to comment any more on it because it's such a minor detail I don't want to harp on it, and make it seem bigger than it is. I think I also have such high expectations of her now (poor thing!) that I expect her to be perfection all the time :) Awful isn't it!

I *do* hope we see her several more times at the Games, she was fantastic and they were great together. It was really a joy to see.

      Delete
    13. They had men's styling in the women's shirts, Rosman. Or did last time I looked. I need a new one, actually; the bright white on mine isn't nearly as bright as it should be any more, so I'll look too. I love those shirts. Or men's might be good too. I never thought of that.

  3. Alright, yeh, lol 🎉
NOW a proposal at the end of the closing ceremony doesn't seem so far-fetched. 💍 umm

And they were holding hands when they entered the area. I think our little Harry has found "the one". 🎈🎈🎈

    1. Surfer girl, I'm with the others who think Harry is a few steps ahead of you and has already popped the question. Like William and Catherine, I think they are waiting for a moment which fits with their work schedules and the court calendar (so as not to upstage anyone else) to announce it.

Based on her comments to Vanity Fair, I don't think they are in any great hurry to burst the private little bubble they have created and enjoyed together. I suspect a highly dramatic public proposal at Invictus simply isn't their style.

    2. I am happy for them. They appear to be a great fit for one another. They looked terrific together.

Anyway, I really appreciate your positive tone and support of the couple. Some of the other sites where I'd been posting have been overcome with really vitriolic, angry, disturbing posts. I'm glad to have a place to come where I don't feel under attack for liking Meghan and loving the two of them together.

    2. Thank you, surfer girl. I feel like I'm in great company here :)

I've been buzzing all day with excitement! I can't wait to see her engagement ring. Do you all think it - as tabloid rumors indicate - that it was made from some of Diana's jewels? I hope it's a large diamond - maybe cushion or asscher cut with some side baguettes. I don't want her to get a colored stone so no comparisons are made with her and Kate or Fergie.

      Delete
    3. That's yet another question of the year, inthekitchen. lol
The speculation surely builds excitement. He definitely has many options. I personally feel Meghan's ring will contain some component in daily remembrance of Diana. I will be very surprised (and somewhat disappointed) if it doesn't.

      Delete
    4. I hope it doesn't surfer girl. However, I do hope we see her wearing Diana's watch. I think that's the piece she'll get.

      Delete
    5. Just curious, bluhare. why do you hope it doesn't have Diana stones in the design?
Meghan may not wear that watch every day but she will most likely wear her ring everyday.

  19. What strikes me the most is the same thing that struck me the other night. They come across as incredibly relaxed, just "we're comfortable in our own skin" vibe. It's really impressive frankly. Walking in they seemed a bit nervous, the very quick hand swinging, but who can blame them, what a big step.

I think they were fantastic together with the athletes and their families, Harry even had to pull Meghan away a bit! And this is bringing enormous attention to the games no doubt about it. People checking out what it is, people supporting/donating, people wanting to be connected to "Harry's charity" - it's just terrific. The foundation and athletes must be absolutely thrilled with this level of media. I have read so many times over the years the feeling of winning the lotto that charities get when a prominent royal decides to take them on, you can't imagine what a windfall it is.

It's very exciting to see the early days of this couple, I feel they will use the enormous platform they have and live up to their potential.

Also surfer girl an announcement has to be imminent, the pressure after this on both of them will be intense with the global press watching their every step and waiting for the official word.

I would love to see a family announcement, Harry & Meghan with Charles & Camilla and Meghan's mother Doria. Wouldn't that be nice :)

A family announcement would be nice, but I also think just H&M having that moment on their own - like the two of them starting their new family (maybe with the dogs!) - would be nice as well. I'd like to see H&M make the announcement, answer questions, do an interview. And then a joint release from C&C and Meghan's parents be released.

You know I am all about a closing ceremony proposal, but I remember an article where William said take time to build your friendship with each other first and do part of that as a couple in the public eye to see how you both handle that. 2. It's the fraying at the ankle that gets me. The jeans are intentionally distressed and strategically ripped and otherwise on point the ankle fray with strings hanging down makes it feel sloppy and unpolished. 2. I can't wait to see the "Royal 4". And since most likely Harry and Meghan will be living in Kensington Palace, it would be interesting if she called it the "Kensington Wives" or even "The Duchess Club." That way she can combine both blogs. I think it'll be easier on Charlotte

I saw these photos on the news and immediately came to this blog. My jaw dropped to see the hand holding and romantic looks and smiles. What a statement. Good for them!! They look confident and in love. He has seemed a bit lost and lonely at so many times in his life, like he was trying to find his place and someone to be his life partner. It always makes me sad for people like that who struggle to find their way. Now he's older and wiser and seems to be determined to make a difference in the world with the position he's in, and I'm so happy that he has found someone who seems like she will enjoy doing the same. It's interesting to me to see such blatant PDA when I'm used to Will and Kate who never really touch (I have always thought it's weird to never see them hold hands or anything). Is there a protocol or just personal preference?

That video was so strange to watch. I can't imagine having everyone stop and stare at me just trying to pass through like that. She really seems like a natural fit for the work she would do as a royal. She's confident, seems ok with the public life, and looks like she will thrive in charity work.

And I definitely think they're already engaged. As she said "everyone loves a good love story".

I figured the stories will be like how they met and started dating. Sort of like how Will told how he tried to make dinners for Kate back when they lived with friends at university.
I kind of took it to be a nice way of saying "I'm not going to go into anymore detail right now, let's move on to a different topic."

  26. This makes me so happy! I didn't like her at first, but that was months ago and I've really come around, now. I think they look stunning together and seem like such a good match. They compliment one another. I really think they have a ton of energy building up around them and could very well prove to be the dynamic couple the BRF needs. It warms my heart to see them so comfortable together, not least of all in the face of all that pressure. How exciting. I really hope this works out...would love to see what they can do/build together.

  28. Delightful! Really fun to see the relationship blossoming publicly (as I'm so sure it has been for a while now privately).

I am so excited to see Meghan's style in the future, as I'm pretttttty sure she is the one and will eventually become part of the royal family. I think she will be tasteful but also trendy which will be very fun to watch.

I agree with the other commenters that they just seem super relaxed and regular. Wouldn't expect anything less from them. Hopefully, she is already starting to develop a strong relationship with W&K, she seems like she would be a great friend even though she is very different from Kate.

Thanks Charlotte, this post made my day!

  29. Ohh, it’s very exciting. They look so relaxed together. She seems more relaxed than Harry. You can just imagine her carrying out royal engagements so easily. I love her style but I think for such a public appearance, her shirt could be smarter and her jeans could do without the rips but she seems to be able to carry it off in a disheveled but sophisticated way.

Hi Charlotte et al - thanks for this blog too
What a lovely surprise to see them together like this and I loved that it's been done so informally. Meghan is simply stunning ( crush on her since her Suits days) and the naturalness shines out. Think they are just the perfect pairing and yes I think they're engaged but the announcement will later in the year when there's a convenient break in royal schedules and there's nothing to overshadow or clash with. Harry's has grown into a natural and charismatic figurehead for his charity and its lovely to see he's got someone to share it with as he's dreamt of.
I did cast my mind back to the Diana concert where he sat next to Chelsea as was very open then - I think yesterday that would have been inappropriate with the First Lady and preseident trudoe and all - and it was a neat move having her sat right next to an entry/exit point too. Today seems the right time to be seen together.
We shall just have to see if they continue to show up now again.
The fashion was just right IMO - and if she's like Kate sending messages out with her clothes, the "husband shirt" is a cheeky clue I think

They look great together. Meghan is very American to me, affectionate. I think we are usually an affectionate culture (sometimes too much!!) and I like that she brings that to the Royal Family.

I notice Meghan likes this style of sunglasses a lot. She has several different pairs, by different designers and in different colors.

I am curious: why is it okay for Harry to hold hands with someone when he is not engaged, but it wasn't okay for William and Kate? You don't see them hold hands, even now, very often. Can anyone explain why this is? I am curious.

    1. I *adore* those sunglasses. I even clicked the link (first time ever!) and they're at Jigsaw UK. I went to the US site and they don't have them! I'm disappointed. I love those glasses and I want them!

      Delete
    2. I believe that it's William's and Kate's preference to not hold hands much in public, they didn't during their courtship and that seems to have carried over into their marriage. Harry strikes me as a much more touchy-feely type of person so it makes sense that he and Meghan are seen holding hands . I recall that Edward and Sophie held hands coming back to BP after W&K's wedding, so I don't think they can't as much as they choose not to.

      Delete
    3. Because most of the time they are doing a job together representing there country, so they keep it professional. But if seen photo's of them in private or when they think there not being watched holding hands and at the marathon William even kissed Kate's hair.

    5. W&K are different people AND in a very different position. I think we've see plenty of chemistry and tactile gestures on official duties and very sweet spontaneous moments when they are not on an official engagement.

Not that there's anything wrong with tasteful PDA, but people are different and in THIS case, W&K are in a very, very different position.

  40. First let me say, that Harry and Meghan look very relaxed and comfortable together. If their relationship leads to marriage, I am happy for them both and wish them a bright future.

I was disappointed with Meghan's outfit on their first official appearance together. Ripped, skinny jeans...really Meghan??? I totally get that this was a casual occasion. Perhaps skinny jeans would have been okay, but not ripped ones. Do you think Kate would ever appear in ripped jeans? If Meghan is to join the royal family, she will need to rethink some of her trendy wardrobe. Given the current extreme heatwave in Toronto, a pair of linen or cotton pants would have been most appropriate. The shirt, shoes and bag were just fine.

For the most part I appreciate Meghan's style, but she missed on this important debut.

Anyway, what a LOVELY suprise this morning!! THIS IS IT!!! We can start cooling the champagne because that announcement is going to happen - and soon, I might add! GREAT news - and I´m so happy for them that they quite obviously ARE so happy together!! That´s a ray of sunshine in this crazy world of ours (including Germany at the moment, I can tell you...) - so THANK YOU, Meghan and Harry - AND Charlotte, for giving this to us! YAYYYY!!!
Surfer girl, get ready, it´s happening (soon enough, haha!).... And thanks for the encouraging words regarding "the minted Lord" - you put a VERY broad smile on my face this morning! :-))))

Fashion-wise: I love her look. I know it might very well be too casual for some, and I get that, but I love it, just because it suits her so well. It´s just cool - and I have a penchant for men´s shirts for casual looks (I´m a regular buyer of REAL men´s shirts, just because I don´t like all the fitted blouses for women for when I´m at home. It´s just not comfortable...). I´m usually not a fan of ripped jeans, but it looks very cool on her. So, a definite "thumbs up" from me...
If you could see me right now, "dancing" on my sofa, clapping my hands in sheer delight .... :-))))

About the jeans, shirt. Believe it or not, I have seen photos of women in fancier places than that wearing the "new" casual clout outfit. Truly. Strange as it may seem that outfit is acceptable in dressy venues, not cocktail party level, but close. I had to do a couple of double takes. Martha Stewart (Julia, you might take some solace in that?) is even wearing the look only she couldn't quite handle the holes in the jeans she said so she designed patchwork ones instead and she wears the men's shirts. She even designed both jeans and shirt to sell on QVC. Stranger than fiction, lol.

  42. I'm so keen for an engagement! Just wondering though...with all the buzz that it will happen this year...do you think this is ok with the Queen and Charles? I mean with them only dating just under 18 months? Obviously this is an ok time for most couples in their 30s, and I do understand Meghan's age has to be taken into consideration if they want to have kids, but I'm just thinking this all seems to have happened pretty quickly. Thoughts?

    2. Jessica from Los Angeles26 September 2017 at 22:08

Sometimes I think you just know when it's right, especially if you've had other relationships fail. When I started dating my husband, I quickly realized he was different. I was more myself around him than I had ever been, and we had similar core beliefs and dreams for the future. I had been happy in other relationships, but this time it was perfect, and I knew it from the start. We both realized about 2 months into dating that we would marry (though we waited another few years to actually do so, but we were in our early 20s not mid-30s).
It sounds overly romantic and unrealistic, but I truly believe sometimes the match is just right and you know it. Next year we will celebrate 10 years of marriage. We've had rough patches, but I have always known I picked the right person.

So I wonder if harry and Meghan are like that. They've had some life experience, learned a lot abut who they are and what they want. They've had relationships fail for one reason or another. And maybe they found each other and everything just clicked. I don't think he'd go public with her if an engagement wasn't in the cards soon. This one is different.

    3. Jessica that was so sweet to hear. :)
I knew on the first date with my husband. And I think Harry knows there is just something about Meghan....

      Delete
    4. That's so wonderful Jessica :)

Definitely I think it's the real deal between them and it's very possible that they realised it early on. My question was more coming from the "considering Harry's situation in life", and how careful (it is assumed) the Queen wishes to be after all the divorces in her family previously.

      Delete
    5. Rosie, I agree with what others say, they´re in their mid-thirties and it´s not that they´ve never had any serious relationships before. So I guess they know much better by now what they want and need in a partner and have enough "wisdom/experience" to rather quickly "sense" that when dating.
Jessica, what a lovely story - really warmed my heart! I totally agree with you about the "core beliefs" and "dreams for the future". In my experience (and marriage counsellors say the same), one shouldn´t make any concessions as far as the "core beliefs/values" are concerned - they are the foundation of the relationship, something you can rely on when things get tough.

    6. Jessica in Los Angeles27 September 2017 at 21:39

Rosie, I wondered if the queen has started to stay out of it and just issue formal approvals unless there were major red flags. After the unhappy marriages of her sister and kids, maybe she learned to encourage people to follow their hearts.

I personally think she might have a soft spot for harry, and given M&H's ages, perhaps is ok with things proceeding faster so they can start a family.

  43. I am excited beyond words to see them together. I am virtually 100% sure there is an engagement in the not to far off future. I don't think they would have made so public and purposeful a debut if they were not getting engaged (or maybe already secretly engaged) Harry has never behaved this way before in his other two "serious" relationships with Chelsea and Cressida. He seems much for focused, purposeful and serious with Meghan. I think she will fit into the Royal Family very well. What I hope is that the media don't start pitting her and Kate against each other.

    1. Rachel, I think you're spot-on. I noticed there is an intensity/closeness between them that I didn't see with Chelsy or Cressida...it could be partly because he's more matured, but I also think it's partly to do with Meghan being "the one".

    4. I think it’s because Chelsy and Cressida were young society girls with no purpose in life. Meghan is an intelligent independent woman with a career and ideas and opinions about the world. I think Harry could have easily gone down the road of marrying some blonde society girl who “models “ . I am so glad he didn’t and waited to meet someone like Meghan.

    5. bluhare, you're right...there was definitely a connection with Chelsy, but this time with Meghan, it feels different. As Rachel said, he seems more serious...I think what he had with Chelsy was a bit like "puppy love"...I couldn't really see them marrying, as their relationship seemed too volatile. And like you said, bluhare, the timing wasn't right...I think Harry is now ready to 'take the plunge', so to speak.

  49. I've been following the royals for a long time, and this site since it started (love this blog, and the others as well!!), but this is my first time commenting. I got absolutely giddy when I saw the original post that they had appeared together! I am an American, and I was one of those who wasn't really sure about the relationship when I first heard of it (really just because I thought "modern American actress and British prince, how well is that going to work?"). But, since they've been dating, I've YouTubed several interviews with Meghan, and she comes across as an awesome person. I tend to be more shy and backwards, and just in watching interviews of her, she seems to have the type of personality that I wish I had.....sweet, confident, outgoing, well-spoken and very charming. As she already has experience being in front of crowds and on television and meeting people, I think she would do well with that part of royal life. Harry seems to be the more outgoing and fun loving of the brothers (not knocking Wills, of course, because he does face much more responsibility) and I think Meghan is a good fit for that. Not to mention, they look completely happy and relaxed with each other.

As for the outfit, I'm ok with the rip in the knee and the casual look of the outfit, but the fraying at the bottom of the jeans is what bothers me....but that may just be because I can't stand that on my own jeans. Overall, I think she did well. We see so many celebrities in the news going to sporting events in sky high heels, sheer tops, tiny bottoms and such...Meghan was effortlessly chic, casual, and not so over-the-top that it drew even more attention away from the competitors.

I am also keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for an engagement!!!

    1. Kate, please don't put yourself down as "shy and backward." The world needs all kinds of people...the outgoing ones and the introspective ones. Not everyone can sparkle and be mega confident in an interview. Yes, Meghan is delightful, but you are also. You show kindness and insightfulness in your comments. Be yourself and be proud of it!

    2. Bonnie, thank you for your kind words! I am working on the "be yourself" thing...I just recently got out of a bad relationship where I was almost always made to feel "less than" and it sometimes still reflects in things I say. It was a big step for me to even comment and your sweet reply made me glad I did! And you are correct that the world needs all kinds of people, which brings me to another point that I forgot to add in my original post...I've already seen an article titled "Is Meghan Markle the Next Kate Middleton?" which really makes me hope that people realize how different these two women are and that they will be glad that they aren't exactly the same type of person. If Meghan becomes Harry's wife, it will be so fun to see the differences in their sartorial choices for public appearances! And being that they are close in age, Meghan may end up giving Kate pointers on how to step out of the box a little!

    3. Katie, I'm sure that if Kate and Meghan become sisters in law, they will figure it out. They are both intelligent women and there should never be any sense of competition. If they develop a close friendship, no doubt their husbands will be delighted.

As for you, a bad relationship can really do a number on a woman. Thank goodness you got out of it, even if that decision was tough to do. Be your authentic self and move forward step by step. Commenting on this blog was a good move...do another step tomorrow and another one the next day. I wish you all the best and please, please walk away from anyone who makes you feel "less than." People who truly care about you and who will contribute to your life, will always support you. The others don't deserve your attention.

    4. Katie, welcome. :)

Your text was said nicely. And even if it hadn't been, sharing is what it is all about. I think Bonnie
is right. Sharing here in this blog can be helpful for you I think. :)

  51. Just a question but as Rachel is Meghan’s real first name, would she be known as Rachel when she marries Harry and I wonder what name do her friends and Harry call her?

    1. Nead, I was asking myself the same question when all the reports about Meghan being "Princess Rachel" after getting married appeared. I first thought "Are they stupid? Rachel is her name in "Suits" - are they getting everything confused now?", but then I realized what was behind it.
She would never be "Princess Rachel" OR "Princess Meghan" as she is no princess by blood, so she would be most likely "Duchess Rachel" or "Duchess Meghan" if Harry is made a Duke by HM.
I don´t know whether there are any "Royal rules", and I wonder whether Meghan chose "Meghan" over "Rachel" because it "sounds good" (Meghan Markle) or maybe she likes it more.... we´ll see! Exciting questions to be answered once they announce their engagement!!

    2. If Meghan prefers to be called Meghan, then there is no reason that any kind of royal title should change that. Harry's real name is Henry and he has never been called that. He is always Prince Harry.

      Delete
    3. I think she'll definitely still be Meghan, after all Harry is legally Henry, so she has good company :) Her full name will be said at her vows, but I'm sure it will be Meghan everywhere else. I suspect that will be a question at the engagement interview!

And Kate is legally Catherine but I don't want to start that one up ;)

      Delete
    4. I was wondering the same thing Nead. Although I guess it depends on if she legally changed it or if it just her stage name. If she legally changed it than it will be Meghan. But if she didn't change it than I assume she will legally be Rachel in her royal title but people will call her Meghan since that's her known like Harry's is his. That's my guess anyway 😀

It's hard to tell because everyone is comparing Henry versus Harry when that is just a nickname version of his real name. Where as Megan is her middle name not her first name. It's a totally different name as opposed to a nickname or shortened version like Kate is for Catherine.

    5. Isn't Meghan's name, in real life, Rachel Meghan Markle? I think she was called by her first name, Rachel up through high school, maybe even college.

    6. Yes. Her real name is Rachel Meghan Markle.
      (per wikipedia).

  52. bluhare. I have some good news for you. :)
Findlay and Company, who made Meghan's "Percy" sunglasses has them available on their website.
And, this is the best part, they ship free worldwide. (Did everyone just make a note to self? lol)

The Fairmont Royal York hotel in Toronto where he is residing during the games, according to that headline by Rebecca English today in the Daily Mail.

  55. But 1 thing is obvious that Meghan will take to public duties like fish to water .
Humanitarian issues are her passion and she is well versed , passionate and comfortable with media .
That ticks all boxes , so I think she would be more comfortable than even Kate who took time to see what she was interested in .

Harry and Meghan could be a force to reckon with in future but keeping in tandem with the RF!

  56. royalfan, here's what I found out.

    1. Meghan's mom was washing primarily a lot of
blankets and bedding. (I found an article with
detailed photos.) So my guess is she has her
own washer and dryer in her home. yay
    2. The laundromat is Super Suds laundromat in
    Inglewood.
    3. She was loading that laundry into her Lexus.
    4. She lives in the house Meghan grew up in. The
house is currently valued at $700,000. It is a two
bedroom, 2 bath house. Cute house.
    5. That home is in a residential pocket in Crenshaw.
    6. Compton (straight out of Compton), Inglewood,
and Crenshaw are very close together. All three
are considered areas of caution. But Crenshaw
does have enclaves of middle income residential
    areas that are safer.
I will list the references I found as soon as I better organize them.

    1. THank you for your comments here, SG. :-) I knew zero about her mother's life, but when I saw the laundry photos, I admit that Meghan's success and public advocacy did make my mind "go there" regarding her own mother's circumstances.

      Delete
    2. Well, if it´s true that her mom packed the laundry in her LEXUS, I guarantee you she´s either a car fan (like me) or she HAS got money (certainly to buy her own washing machine)... Lexus is the premium brand of Toyota, so there you go... ;-)))) Not cheap, that´s for sure...

    3. ditto, rf. that's why I am glad I pursued that (even inadvertently). I think that that is a good thing to know, not just for relief, but also to help better understand Meghan. Her mom has been in that home since before Meghan left for college. That is Meghan's childhood home. That is a lot of stability from Doris right there. And, her mom did achieve her master's from USC. No small feat.
(Nice that USC is probably very close to where she lives.) And that she is not "above" going to the laundromat, although "fame" may preclude future ventures there. :)

"Friends Who Met At Church Set Up Their Own Sunglasses Brand Loved by A-listers And Made €20,000 After Meghan Wore Their Shades on Her First Official Outing With Harry", Siofra Brennan, Daily Mail, 9/27/17. We were not the only ones who loved the sunglasses. :) The two young men who are Findlay and Company, said they had no fashion background but saw a gap in the market for a better pair of sunglasses. They were championed early on by Anna Wintour, Vogue, and now their shades are sold in 25 countries. We just saw an example of the "Meghan effect".

    1. 23:38. I think you are right. They have the one like Meghan wore at Saks for $255. The ones with more dots cost more and the ones in 14k gold, of course, cost more. So delicate and feminine. I love it.
