Prince Harry & Meghan Charm Cardiff as Their Pre-Wedding Tour Continues!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited Cardiff for a day showcasing the rich culture and heritage of Wales, and to learn more about some of the organisations working in communities across the country.

The engagements are part of the couple's plan to visit communities around the UK ahead of the wedding in May, not only to introduce Meghan who will officially be a Duchess in four months, but to give her an opportunity to get to know organisations on the ground and the work they are doing. At this point, she will be considering which charities and causes she wishes to lend her patronage to.

It's Harry and Meghan's third day of official duties; days after their engagement announcement they undertook a day of engagements in Nottingham and last week they enjoyed a visit to Brixton. They received a rousing welcome on both occasions, and it was a case of more of the same in the Welsh capital as locals turned out to welcome Prince Harry and his future bride to Wales.

Wales Online reports:

'Lord Mayor of Cardiff Bob Derbyshire said the capital was “proud” to welcome the couple. He said: “Cardiff is very proud to welcome Prince Harry and Ms Markle to the city. I am sure they will enjoy their visit and we hope this will be the first of many for the couple to the Welsh capital.”

Harry and Meghan arrived later than scheduled due to a train delay.

They greeted crowds upon arrival.

A kiss for Meghan.

Meghan thanked well wishers for waiting and braving the cold, adding she "appreciated" it.

Once again, she was a hit with those she met.

Meghan was presented with daffodils, the National Flower of Wales.

Kensington Palace tweeted "Prynhawn da Caerdydd! What an incredible welcome to Wales!"

Meghan confirmed Harry is a feminist.

More from People:

One fan, Jessica Phillips, 23, told Meghan how she admired her outspoken views on women’s rights and feminism. “He’s a feminist too, so there’s that,” Meghan told Phillips. “She was so lovely,” said Phillips. “I said it was really lovely to have a feminist in the royal family, and she said Harry is a feminist too.”

Meghan wrote a message for a girl named Caitlin. Her mum Rachel tweeted "That's going to be her most treasured possession ever. One happy mummy here".

People reports:

Harry, 33, and the L.A.-raised Meghan, 36, were greeted by well-wishers before being given a taste of modern Welsh life and traditional culture. Among those pressed against the barrier — and displaying her American flag — was Julie Hoefer, 31, from Dundas, Va.
“We don’t have a royal family in America, and the whole idea is amazing,” she said. “And now we have one who joined the family — finally. It is super exciting. Meghan was lovely,” Hoefer said after Meghan approached her. “She came over and was talking and showed us her ring. It was gorgeous. She said she was ‘super lucky, a very lucky woman. She asked me where I was from — I said Virginia and she said it was very nice. She was really stunning up close.”
Also among the crowd was Cynthia Osborne, a retired nurse from Cardiff. She wrapped a Welsh flag around her red Stetson-style hat and held a bunch of daffodils, the national flower of Wales.
“Meghan looks lovely, a breath of fresh air,” said Osborne. “She showed me her ring. I said to her, ‘It’s sparkling, so you’re sparkling!’ She thanked me and asked me my name. She seemed very friendly.”

A great photo of Meghan mingling.

Their first stop was  the iconic Cardiff Castle.

They were presented with a traditional Celtic love spoon by local children, named Harry and Megan.

The Castle has a history dating back 2,000 years, in the heart of the capital.

Chatting with staff and volunteers.

The castle's architecturally rich Gothic Revival interiors will be put to use as the backdrop to a Welsh culture festival.

This video includes several clips of the Castle visit.

Cardiff Castle is one of Wales’ leading heritage attractions and a site of international significance. Located within beautiful parklands at the heart of the capital, the Castle’s walls and fairy-tale towers conceal 2,000 years of history.

A brief summary of the fascinating history of the castle:

'The Roman fort at Cardiff was probably established at the end of the 50s AD, on a strategic site that afforded easy access to the sea. Archaeological excavations indicate that this was the first of four forts, each a different size, that occupied the present site. Remains of the Roman wall can be seen today. After the Norman conquest, the Castle’s keep was built, re-using the site of the Roman fort. The first keep on the motte, erected by Robert Fitzhamon, Norman Lord of Gloucester, was probably built of wood. Further medieval fortifications and dwellings followed over the years.
The Castle passed through the hands of many noble families until in 1766, it passed by marriage to the Bute family. The 2nd Marquess of Bute was responsible for turning Cardiff into the world’s greatest coal exporting port. The Castle and Bute fortune passed to his son John, the 3rd Marquess of Bute, who by the 1860s was reputed to be the richest man in the world.
From 1866 the 3rd Marquess employed the genius architect William Burges to transform the Castle lodgings. Within gothic towers he created lavish and opulent interiors, rich with murals, stained glass, marble, gilding and elaborate wood carvings. Each room has its own special theme, including Mediterranean gardens and Italian and Arabian decoration. The 3rd Marquess died when he was only 53 in 1900. Despite huge death duties on the estate, the 4th Marquess completed many of his father’s restoration projects including the reconstruction of the Roman wall. The Bute family continued to stay at the Castle throughout the 1920s and 1930s, although they had sold off many of their business interests in south Wales.

Following the death of the 4th Marquess of Bute, the family decided to give the Castle and much of its parkland to the city of Cardiff. For 25 years, the Castle was home to the National College of Music and Drama, and since 1974 has become one of Wales’ most popular visitor attractions.

It was a beautiful choice for Meghan's first taste of Wales; the surrounding grounds and gardens are breathtaking.

During their tour, Harry and Meghan met leading sportsmen and women, and saw how organisations are working to promote Welsh language and cultural identity.

The couple watched a dance performance.

Harry and Meghan visited the Castle Apartments.

The opulent space is described: "Spectacular fairy-tale apartments, rich with murals, gilding and elaborate wood carvings, stained glass and marble, created by art-architect William Burges for the 3rd Marquess of Bute."

A wedding cake made out of Welsh cheese for Harry and Meghan. When Meghan saw the cake she said “Oh my goodness. How sweet is that?" She tasted a mature cheddar used in the cake and said it was “really delicious.”

The couple sampled Welsh cakes.

Next, Harry and Meghan travelled on to Star Hub, a community and leisure centre in the Tremorfa area of the city to see how sport is being used to engage young people and aid social development.

A warm welcome in Tremorfa.

They saw how StreetGames, a delivery partner of Sport Wales and the Welsh Government, and an organisation with which Prince Harry has worked previously, is helping to make sport accessible to all young people, regardless of their social circumstances. It does this by supporting and establishing over 1,000 locally trusted organisations around the UK to deliver doorstep sport.

Doorstep sport sessions operate in disadvantaged communities and include positive activities and sport for young people when they want it, where they want it and how they want it.

Time for a spot of Jenga!

During their visit, Prince Harry and Ms Markle met young people taking part in various doorstep sessions, including street dance and table tennis. They also met young women who are taking part in the UsGirls project, set up with the aim of driving a step change in female sport participation across the UK and addressing the barriers that prevent many girls and young women from taking part in sport and physical activity. To date it has mobilised 5,000 girls and young women across Wales.

Before they left Harry said: "Everyone give Meghan a big group hug".

At the very end Prince Charming Harry says "And release. She's mine". Watch Meghan's reaction when he says those words, she literally lights up. It's incredibly endearing and heartwarming to witness how in love they are!

A fitting end to a wonderful day!

Meghan deployed a touch of sartorial diplomacy today; opting for a selection of British brands.

Meghan's black coat is the Stella McCartney Tie Detail Coat (with thanks to Queen Rania's Closet).

More from the product description:

'Looking to the traditional tuxedo for inspiration, this coat from Stella McCartney exudes androgyny. Distinguished with peak lapels and a suit jacket-style trio of pockets, the wool-blend design is punctuated with an exaggerated self-tie front. Partially lined for lightweight layering, the single hem vent ensures mobility in the longline profile.'

Underneath, Meghan wore a Prince of Wales tartan jacket by Theory (with thanks to Meghan's Fashion). It is described as "An off-the-shoulder jacket with a covered zip front and besom pockets. Made of premium Italian stretch wool with a textured yarn-dyed plaid." It originally retailed for $495 before going on sale for $198 and selling out.

Meghan's jeans are by Welsh brand Huit Denim. It looks like Meghan wore their Dina Skinny Fit - High Waist style.

More on the £175 pair:

'We chose a beautiful 12.5 oz raven black stretch denim from Candiani, Italy.  They feel like an authentic black jean. But they give. Just a little. Not too much to take away the authentic denim feel, but enough to help make them easier to wear and allow the jeans to sit comfortably on your waist. Unlike other stretch denim, this premium stretch denim will not lose its shape. No saggy knees here.'

More from Wales Online on the background of the brand:

'Cardigan has a long history of making jeans - for almost 40 years the town was home to a factory that made 35,000 pairs of jeans each week for UK retailer Marks & Spencer. But in 2002 the facility closed with the loss of 400 jobs when production was moved to Morocco to cut costs.
So when David, a proud Welshman, was looking to open a factory to start making jeans, he chose the town. The company name is a combination of the first two letters of his surname and the word "utility". Now exporting 25% of its jeans, it takes Hiut about one hour and 10 minutes to make one pair, compared with 11 minutes at a highly mechanised jeans industry giant.'

In a nod to Wales, Meghan carried a green bag by Demellier London (with thanks to Meghan's Mirror). The £295  Mini Venice is described as "A press favourite, the Mini Venice is as cute as it is practical. Crafted in luxurious calf leather, this little gem is lightweight, making it perfect for long days out. Choose to wear it over the shoulder, cross-body or by its ladylike handle."

For every bag purchased, DeMellier funds lifesaving vaccines and treatments aimed to save the life of a child in need, in collaboration with orphan charity SOS Children's Villages. The funds are administered through SOS Children’s Villages’ medical programmes in countries such as Somalia and Zambia, where currently 1 in 6 children do not live to see their 6th birthday.

Meghan's stylish boots are the $825 Tabitha Simmons Kiki Boots (with thanks to Japanese Ginger). They are also available at Farfetch and Browns.

They are described as "These black Tabitha Simmons Kiki velvet ankle boots will be the hot topic at the next kiki with your lady friends. These shoes have been fabricated in Italy from plush black velvet and feature a point toe, elasticated panels at both sides, a comfortable leather insole, leather sole and a block heel with a height of 75 mm." London born Stylist-turned-editor-turned footwear designer Tabitha, is known for her use of exquisite materials.

And in the fashion surprise of the day, Meghan mixed it up by wearing a different earring on each ear.

Meghan accessorised with her Zofia Day Dash Ear Stud and Gabriela Artigas Triple Shooting Star Earring, as spotted by Perth Fashion.

And it appears she completed the look with a couple of her Missoma stacking rings.

And Meghan's Fashion received confirmation the ring on her middle finger is the Birks Yellow Gold and Diamond Splash Ring.

In their review, The Telegraph wrote: Diplomatic and sustainable: Meghan Markle ticks all the fashion boxes with her latest look:

'In her life before becoming engaged to Prince Harry, Markle was an activist for charitable causes and sustainability. Today's look demonstrated her resolve to continue those passion projects in her new role. Here's how...
She carried the Mini Venice handbag from DeMellier London, formerly Milli Millu, in forest green. A representative of the brand said the handbag sighting was 'a bit of a shock,' and they believe that Markle purchased the design herself. More than simply being chic, Markle's bag comes with a charitable purpose; for every style sold by DeMellier, the label donates funds to prevent infant death through the charity SOS Children's Villages.
Stella McCartney is the conscious generation's go-to designer for clothes which are created as sustainably as possible but still stylish enough to pass muster on red carpets, Paris fashion week catwalks- and now on royal walkabouts in Cardiff. “I’m hoping what will happen is in 10 years, people will look back at the fact that we killed billions of animals and cut down millions of acres of rain forest, and [used] water in the most inefficient way—we can’t sustain this way of living.," McCartney told American Vogue in 2017.
But it was Hiut Denim, the small Welsh brand, that emerged from the afternoon with the greatest boost to its profile. Clare and David Hieatt founded Hiut Denim in 2011. The brand is based in Cardigan, which for nearly 40 years was the site of a denim factory that employed 400 people - 10% of the town's total population. The factory produced 35,000 pairs of jeans a week until closing in 2002, leaving a swathe of skilled workers unemployed. Today the factory is once again operational, producing small-batch jeans for Hiut. Each pair includes a HistoryTag, a unique code that owners can use to document their adventures in the jeans. 'So when it's time for your jeans to get handed down or they end up in a second hand shop,' a note on the site reads, 'their stories will go with them.'

A fantastic day all round filled with a great walkabout, a fairytale castle, worthy causes, beautiful photos and moments like this :)

What do you think of Meghan's third 'royal' day out?

    1. Megan continues to look spit on! For many of us who live and work in major cities black is a go to color in business and corporate life. It is a very refined look

    2. I agree she looks very elegant, and wear a lot of black myself :-) I don't think it's a bad thing at all! It just is still unusual for members of the royal family (and I presume royal fiancees!)

    3. Anon, I agree that black and other neutrals are go-to colours in business and corporate life, but that is not the kind of life that Meghan is embarking on. She is joining the royal family and, as such, her mission is to draw maximum attention to the causes she champions in order to raise their profile. Carrying out an engagement is one thing, but for the message to spread more widely she will need regular media exposure in the papers and in magazines such as Hello. At the moment she is getting it because she's the newcomer and is enjoying a 'honeymoon period' with the press, but when that wears off a bit, the way for a royal to get more media exposure in the longer term (without causing a scandal, of course!) is to wear bright colours (especially photographers' favourite red) that will stand out in photographs and encourage the editor to put her picture (and accompanying charity details) on the front pages to grab readers' attention. Sadly, I just don't think black, charcoal and beige can do that - they're too drab to draw attention.

I want her to be fantastic in her role, and I'm totally convinced that she can be, so I live in hope that, like Kate's early beige pieces, the neutrals will slowly disappear as she learns the ropes.

    4. Jeans, messy hair, the bag ... A sort of last minute look, to My eyes.

    5. Helen, I think it's really overkill to say the press won't want to photograph her if she isn't wearing red. She's ALWAYS going to be the focus of attention. Nor do I think that wearing bright colours is somehow more "royal." I sincerely hope she doesn't start dressing like the Queen and Kate in a series of boring pink and blue coat dresses. She has her own style that's perfectly appropriate.

Penny, I do agree with you, if we look at the magazines and papers covers, we see photos of stars and well known women very often dressed in black, black has become a colour on its own nowadays ! moreover, these colours suit her skin and hair . Also, all these visits must be quite difficult to handle for her as it is all new, and it is far better if she wears clothes she is used to, she probably feels more comfortable and can put all her mind in the meetings, speakings, huggings! I just would like her to pay more attention to her hair .... but once again, new situations for her, so she learns bit by bit ....

    2. I know. Im disappointed in the just plain messy hair again. The ends are flying around her face again and she's continually pushing them back. I had a thought that she trying to give her hair a break from extensions and straightening right now so that its in tip top shape for the wedding.

    3. Lol ladies, I was actually wondering if her hair is purposefully styled this way. How silly! I hope that she finds a more professional look soon, maybe a shorter length would be good.

Also, LOVE the bag and LOVE it even more after learning about the company that makes it. Such an incredible initiative by them to fund vaccines for children. Well done Meghan for championing a wonderful brand!

    4. I think this is actually a good messy bun. Last time, it was a disaster and looked horribly messy, but I think Meghan pulled it off today. It isn't my favorite hairstyle at all, but I think the updo works with her outfit. I'm hoping to see her pull off some really polished ponytails/buns in the future, without the escaping strands.

    5. Yes, same as last week’s event in Brixton. I’m not getting it. I️ understand it’s deliberate and a particular “style,” it’s just not very attractive. Otherwise, I️ love everything she’s weariing.

Not only was her choice of purse socially responsible, but also her choice of jeans. The company, huit jeans, saved 400 jobs in the face of apparent defeat. Seems Meghan is doing her research.

But what I really liked is when she noticed a little girl who was too shy to perform with the rest of the girls she was supposed to dance with and went over to talk to her, and told her she used to be shy too. A lovely thing to do.

  7. I love that Meghan has her own style and isn't morphing into a boring "royal" style. I want her to continue doing things HER way and in her style which I love. It's beautiful, chic and classic and HER. She looks so beautiful, I must try and meet her on one of her visits. I adore her boots - can't wait to find out the make. Lovely that she is wearing Welsh!!! And I love her "messy bun" - good for her ignoring all the criticisms.

    1. I totally agree with you. I know a lot of people are going to criticize her (especially the older generation who are used to royals doing things a certain way, perhaps) but I'm so glad she continues to look like herself: sophisticated, modern, chic, minimalist. I hope she never wears a single coat dress!

      Delete
    2. I wouldn't be too confident about that. All the royal fiancees started out with an original style that gradually became royal-fied. It seems to be an inevitable fate.

      Delete
    3. I agree, Erika. I bet as soon as they're married, the powers that be will change her style. I happen to love her sophisticated look, except for her hair. I read an article that said Meghan touches her hair because she's nervous, but I think it's because pieces are constantly blowing in her face. We shall see what happens with her style. I am thrilled for them, though, especially Harry, after all he's been through. Diana would be so happy for her sons.

      Delete
    4. Erika oh my so true. I think some of it is just the natural figuring out ones working wardrobe that we all go through with our jobs. For most jobs, the edgier high fashion element is not practical, easy to do or suitable. I think they all end up trying to find a somewhat unique working Royal style. The things they do and events they go to tend to involve lots of getting in and out of cars, walking around a bunch inside and out, bending over etc. My sisters teachers wardrobe was very different from my financial business wardrobe.

      Delete
    5. Exactly, anon and ali. I don't know if some higher power starts making some firm suggestions or through trial and error these new royal ladies just learn what does or doesn't work but each one's style becomes less original and more "royal" as time progresses.

      Delete
    6. It may be true that Meghan will adopt a more "royal" style as she "learns the ropes" as some here suggest. However, the royal style has always changed to reflect changes in society. Some would say: Not quickly enough. Diana knew this but no one was listening then.

We know that the RF needs to be in tune with the people. Sometimes they have flopped badly in this regard. I'm sure they are watchful and know they need to be more and more in touch. We have seen this shift as the royals have become less and less untouchable. Group hugs? Unthinkable less than a decade ago. Diana, I believe, would have been incredibly proud of Harry's invitation to that moment and his quick-witted orchestration of it.

The Queen Mother would have shown up in something quite lavishly different. Her Majesty likely would have chosen a coat and hat, but without her mother's flounce and feathers. However, even her style dialed back somewhat after her mother's death and times changed.

I predict that after the end of Queen and Charles's reign, the younger royals' will style themselves differently from the past generations. Perhaps not William and Catherine as much, but anyone in the line of succession after George, Charlotte and bebe-to-be will be much freer in their choices.

Someone mentioned losing interest of photographers who will have to work harder to get their shots if Meghan continues to choose not to wear pops of colour. I doubt that very much. I suspect the neutral palette we have seen so far is as deliberate as her other design choices. If she were opting for brilliant hues and ordering coat dresses at this stage, the outcry against her would be: Who does this foreign upstart think she is? The Queen?

Also, I recently read about a near assassination attempt on HM. It could well be that being highly visible because she perceives it to be a public need and she is a tiny person might not be the best approach.

In this age of more heightened security risks, the RF and their security advisers might take a different approach in the future. Everyone now has a cell phone in their hands. How much harder to spot a gun in the crowd that it used to be.

    7. I'd put my money on Grenada's thought actually, I don't see Meghan morphing into any style other than her own.

These are very different times first of all, and Harry himself by every account is very much "his own man" - I suspect he told Meghan, "be yourself, don't try to be anything or anyone else." Frankly he likely knows that overthinking and worrying about what image to project has tied others into knots.

Second, I know I sound like a broken record, but Harry and Meghan are going to be more removed from the throne than even Andrew was and Sarah didn't change her style all that much to be honest. Diana was and Kate is in very different positions.

I think Meghan might be more conservative in the presence of the Queen, and that's about it.

      Delete
    8. I hope she stays true to herself too. She and Harry will be fun to watch.

    9. Was scrolling bottom up , so I said something to this effect later down somewhere. I also hope that she won't change her style much. I am happy she is not following a royal uniform upto now. I would also tend to agree that Harry told her to be herself. Her comment on Harry being a feminist - I certainly hope so !

On another note I have been skeptical of the length of the relationship but on seeing them together it is clear that they are very much in sync and Harry is head over heels. That sometimes can help weather many storms. So maybe these guys will be okay after all.

      Delete
    10. I second your broken record Claudia:)

I hope so too she won't change much, she will dress for royal occassions but she will never be that polished that people want her to be. Just a feeling.

      Delete
    11. Don't get me wrong, I like her style and hope she retains at least the spirit of it as she builds her working wardrobe. If we look at history, however, by the second or third year in, the royal ladies are dressing much more conservatively than they did when they started out. It will be interesting to see if this holds true for Meghan.

Claudia, as far as Sarah Ferguson, first off, she had (and still has) lousy fashion sense both before and after the wedding, so there is that. That said, I think her style did change alot after the wedding. She had the typical fairly casual Sloaney thing going before her marriage but built a rather predictable royal wardrobe after that didn't look much like what she had been wearing pre Andrew imo. As a matter of fact, Sarah even brought back gloves which is a formality Diana eschewed if at all possible.

I absolutely understand that with each passing generation the royal family will become less formal. Also, I understand that Meghan is in a different position than Kate but they are of the same royal generation. Certainly, Meghan will have more fashion freedom but not sure how much more. Working senior royals within the same generation have never veered that far off course no matter how far down they are in the pecking order as they are still representing The Crown.

Lastly, do we really want royals to look just like us? I think a great part of their success lies in the concept that they are not just like us, don't you? Relatability is important but too much of it may be their downfall.

Erica, I am with you in expecting Meghan to change her style as she finds her role in the royal family - while hopefully staying true to herself. Isn’t it normal to adapt your wardrobe when you start a new job that has a different culture and requirements than your previous job. That doesn’t mean some puppetmaster is pulling the strings.
I for one am very excited to see how Meghan’s wardrobe develops.

  8. From "all" of her appearances thus far, I can tell the items I am most going to envy are her purses/handbags. This makes number 2 that I wish I could have, and generally I am not at all concerned about with what purse I am carrying. (I have just 1 per season, and use the same one for years until it wears out!)

  9. Finally they have arrived! After a long wait to see Meghan’s outfit, I conclude that she looks fabulous as always; but something not quite right. I feel like she is dressed for upper East side New York, not Wales, UK. Too.Much.Black. A colored scarf at the neck would have made so much difference, and really softened the look. It’s nice that her bag is green though.

    1. Agree. She's dressed for Manhatten, Boston or my neck of the woods Cambridge,Ma. Many of us are in all or mostly black much of the time. Very easy to look effortlessly chic and professional that way. I have to say as much of a fan as I amof all black, I did have trouble seeing her against the crowd when the initial photos came out.

      Delete
    2. On the other hand, a scarf would have spoiled the neckline on that stunning jacket. So we have to scan a photo for a few more seconds. How far does our entitlement to her public persona extend? As I stated above, I think we might be in a royal shift for generational and perhaps also security reasons.

In addition, I think until she walks down that aisle and for some time afterwards Meghan will continue the neutral palette evident in all her choices so far. Not only because it is sophisticated and professional, but because she is sensitive to her outsider status. You could just as easily argue (and many here would) that bright colours would invite a "something not quite right" and too royal too fast response.

I hope she sticks to her own style. If what it means to "look royal" changes to something edgier and more in tune with the styling of the generation on the way up rather than the generation on the way out, I say bring it on.

      Delete
    3. Philly, I think Barbara is referencing the black scarf Meghan has on with her coat. There's so much dark black on black that its hard to see. If that scarf had maybe been a hunter green to match the purse, the heaviness of all that black could have been softened. I agree though that we don't want to mess with the stunning neckline of that jacket.

Of course, we can all take the extra time to find her in photos but blending in and having to play "let's find the royal" kind of defeats the purpose of being seen that is the bread and butter for the BRF. I agree that a neutral palette for Meghan right now is genius because she doesn't want to seem too forward. However, if this becomes her working wardrobe til the end of time, it will be as predictable and boring as Kate's multitude of coat dresses.

  13. My first impression is, Meghan is just doing it! I'm American and we are just simply much more laid back than the British. However, I respect and even admire the formalities of the British people, especially the Royal Family. I do feel like we Ameticans can be a bit too laid back, especially at formal and work events. So, while I'm over the moon with Meghan, I do agree with others who have commented that she will need to alter her approach somewhat once she becomes a Duchess. At that point, I believe she does need to be appear more regal and refined, but hopefully she won't loose herself in all that. She will need to strike a balance. Personally, I would look to Queen Letizia or Princess Mary. Both women are refined and modern.

  18. All over miss for me, except for the top. Sleek, skinny pant with those boots? No. Calls for a flat or different heel. Her coats with the ties and the scarves are just too much. And the bun? She has the opposite issue from Kate. Kate wears her hair down when she should wear it up, and Meghan wears it up when it should be down. Her hair just does not do this style well. I have the same type of hair... when I want to wear my hair up, it has to be a tight bun, an updo, a ponytail, or a half up/down. I keep wanting to like what she wears and I keep getting disappointed.

    1. I love the top and the pants, but you are right about the shoes. She needs either flats or a heel. Trying to fit the slim trousers over boots isn't a great look.

    2. I disagree, for meeting and greeting her bun is perfect, she keeps touching it anyway because of the wind, can you imagine if it was down?!

    3. Dee, I was wondering if Megan went with the bun given there was rain. If your hair is similar, would the weather impact the styling?

    4. Wearing skinny pants with ankle boots is an extremely common thing? I'm not sure what's wrong with that.

      Delete
    5. Penny, typically pants are either cuffed or tucked inside the ankle boots, not pulled down over top. It's a very dated look.

      Delete
    6. @Elle, weather very much affects the styling. But this isn’t styled. This isn’t what my hair looks like when I jump,in the shower.

      Delete
    7. Got distracted by my baby last night... I meant this *IS* what my hair looks like when I jump in the shower. I posted this below, but I'll repost here..

I know she wanted to keep her hair out of her face. Good call on her part if it's rainy or windy. It's HOW she's keeping it out of her face. It looks messy and unkempt and how I throw my hair back when I'm about to take a shower. There is a way to make a loose bun that would keep her texture of hair back and not so rigid. I do this all the time at work where there is no air conditioning. Humidity and rain would make her hair frizzy, so I understand why she pulls it back. But she doesn't have the hair texture to just throw back in a messy bun. She either needs to embrace her natural curl (if she doesn't want to, fine, her hair) or style it correctly. I have nearly identical hair as her... we are NOT low-maintenance hair girls. We will never be. If she wants to keep the soft curled blow-dryed look, then she needs to figure out how to pull it back so it doesn't look like this. Her hair just does not look professional in this style.

  19. Oh dear. I'm not a fan of this look for this purpose at all. The hair really strikes a note of "I refuse to rise to the occasion". That's my opinion only, but it is how I see it. The whole look is too casual for an event such as this. It doesn't look like she made an effort at all. I just want to say - you had a one hour delay on the train, could you not have fixed your hair in that time? Sorry folks. On the other hand, she and Harry are a lovely couple together and very different from the expected. That's a good thing.

    2. Totally agree with you, Me in Vancouver. Meghan's hair is a mess…again. As you say it looks like she has made no effort. I can see wearing her hair off her face, with such a busy day of meeting people. She could have it back in a pony tail, or she could wear a bun that is carefully put into that style. Perhaps Meghan does not have a hairdresser on hand…but really she should not attempt this by herself as she does not know how to do an undo/chignon properly.

  20. I love her overall look. That coat is gorgeous. I love the skinny pants and boots, i might have gone for an upgrade in the slacks so they did not look like a jean. When I first saw I thought they were a bootleg dress slack. The top underneath looked wonderful. The green bag is great, but it drives me nuts when the bags flap does not stay clasped, always looks like the bag is going to spill out. The boots are fun but wow a ton of money for really a pretty standard black boot. Could anyone see what earrings she was wearing?

    ReplyDelete
  21. My immediate thoughts on seeing the first photo were 'that's a very formal looking coat', 'hate the tight leg pants', and 'love the green bag'. After looking at all the photos my first thoughts stand and. . . she really needs to do something with her hair. That sloppy (relaxed?) look isn't going to work with her new status. I also have to agree that the all black outfits are going to cause a huge loss of interest. Fashion counts - why are we all on this site? Too see what Meghan is wearing. A splash of color would help her look. I've never been a fan of black, it's an easy "out" to wear all black and lends an 'I don't know how to match color' feeling. I've always felt that navy blue is a much better neutral and adds more 'life' to a look. Sorry for the rant. As the average citizen she looks great, as a soon-to-be-royal her look needs work. I think Meghan is trying her best and in time will find her best fashion look.

  22. They both look great! I frankly love her hair and I'm sure it is exactly the way she wants it. She does not have fine easily managed hair, and the loose stands look great. That jacket worn as a blouse is very attractive!! The reader who guessed Stella McCartney deserves a gold star.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I agree! They both look fab! Her hair has likely been straightened giving it a silky quality, which makes the strands wispy. As someone with curly hair, I can confirm that it is not always easy to find a manageable style when its windy or rainy, as it often is in the UK this time of year! I think she's doing a great job and demonstrating what styles are possible with a different texture of hair that some people don't often get to see.

      Delete
    2. I think she has the puff and wisps of her hair to help soften it around her face, however she can still have it be a puffed from the forehead back and soft and yet tuck the parts that do not fit easily into the bun under the hair with a pin. Those tendrils tend to only look really good in a "no wind" photo. She can also do this with a ponytail. The trick for most of us is to pull the hair back into a bun or ponytail and still have that softness at the front.

      Delete
    3. I love this ensemble—classy and understated. I wonder if the black is in support of the metoo movement? I remember after Diana auctioned off many of her iconic dresses for charity (at William’s suggestion), she commented that she tired of reading about what she wore vs what causes she supported. Perhaps Meghan is heading that off early by dressing more to her own style.

      Delete
    4. Ditto on the coat and gorgeous jacket. Her handbag collection is so beautiful and I love the green hue. Opinions vary on Meghan's hair bun. I would love to see a side part, which would give a chic yet softer look to frame her face.

      Delete
    5. I think that Meghan has a perfectly symmetric face and that is why a middle part actually flatters her more than a side part would.
See I don't do "polished" hair myself, and Meghan doesn't seem to either. So it's going to take a while for her to find a style that is simultaneously effortless yet not messy. It's not easy if your natural style is for it to be somewhat tussled.

The Telegraph has a nice video (about 1:40) from the day. I think Meghan really enjoyed the performances! Listening to music, you could see her feel the rhythm and move with it.

  24. I’m always so pleased that you show the purpose behind the visit and give such detail on what the charity is doing. I love the addition of the videos. I think about how hard people work to show what they are doing. For example, how much these kids must have practiced their poetry and dance to get it just right. As someone who doesn’t live in the U.K., it gives me real intel and inspiration for my own volunteer work.

I also wonder what it must be like to dress for events. Are you dressing to entertain people (I don’t like that)? Are you dressing to support the country’s fashion industry (that’s okay)? Are are you just picking clothes to wear to work (my preference)? I’m glad that you put the fashion part dead last in a blog post. That’s where it belongs.

The block heels are right on trend. Meghan's style seems to tend towards minimalism and the monochromatic. It's a very polished look. To my mind, she is dressing in her personal style. She is both American and somewhat international. She is not a duchess yet, and although some people want her to dress more "British" whatever that is, what she is doing now seems to be just expressing her personal aesthetic. And she always looks entirely approachable, and yet stands out in any crowd.

  28. I think Meghan looks fantastic today. Not a super big fan of strands escaping again, but the bun is much more polished than the last one she sported. The black coat is gorgeous and the skinny pant is streamlined. I think it's both professional and chic.

I don't understand comments about her outfit looking lazy. Also, several people were wanting Meghan to wear more fitted pieces to avoid being "swallowed" by her clothes. Now, she has done that, but the pants are too thin? My personal opinion is that the pants go well with the oversized coat. She looks appropriate (and modern) for a working day.

I also think that Meghan is comfortable wearing more neutral colors and that it's also a safe way to begin her forage into royal life. Especially in the winter time, many pieces are darker. I think we should all give her time to get used to her role and her surroundings before she begins bringing out the sartorial fireworks of color.

    1. As many of us with olive skin and very dark hair/dark eyes could testify - deep, dark neutrals and a few rich, jewel tones ( but still dark) are really the best colors for us. The alternative is white, off white and "almost white" in the summer - but that's about it.
So I completely understand her consistent choice of deep colors (or completely white), especially for someone a few good steps darker than I am.

Even though she will surely not be my favorite royal and I have a clear preference for the more traditional Kate - it will be quite fun and interesting to watch Meghan strictly for coloring reasons.
I have been wearing for years absolutely the same colors she seems to opt for. I googled to see her pre-Harry years - and she pretty much stole my colors. :-)

Erroneously, I spent my prime years trying to adopt all sorts of pastels, mediums or brights (diversity!)...only to eventually learn that people with my coloring just can't pull off these hues quite as well as your classic Norhern-European whose light, bright complexion accommodates pretty much ANY color.

I sincerely believe darker skin complexions are a bit more difficult to work with in the color realm - but the deep, dark choices work great for us.

On a different note, the messy hair and overly causal, urban-corporate, style...definitely not my cup of tea :-).

She should be fun to watch though.

She'll be fun to wacth though.

    2. Great point! I didn't even think about tone playing into the equation. I have zero problem with her wearing neutrals. I think she looks great in them and they are classic and chic.

      Delete
    3. Agreed. I'm dubbing Megan, 'Queen of Neutrals' in a good way. Let's face it, neutrals are what what you should build your wardrobe on. Here coat so far - Cream, Navy, Camel, Oatmeal, Black - I wish were all in my closet. I admit to building colored coats - mainly because I'm so driven to them - but then wishing I had a neutral one in my closet.

Do I think we'll see a change post-wedding? Yes. But I also think she'll still be Megan.

      Delete
    4. As someone who wears all neutrals and mostly only neutrals I can totally understand why Meghan would stick to a comfortable and easy color palette. She is probably overwhelmed with the newness of her experience and her life right now and is throwing outfits together. So I imagine that she will branch out after the wedding.
I am really happy that she isn't royalifying herself straight off the bat, but is clinging to her own taste and individuality.

  29. Me: Thinking of the many A-list celebrities who always wear neutral colors without the media losing interest in them and their clothes (hello, Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie among others).

Me again: Thinking that the future duchess of X, future of wife of Prince Harry and one of the most beautiful women in the world has nothing to worry about.

  30. Big fan of the coat, bag, and boots. Nice nod to Wales with the jeans. I'd probably go with flats too but I suspect she wanted the leg length when the coat is off, and the jeans do fit well over the short boot. It's one of those idiosyncrasies like Kate going for very short dresses when she's pregnant. Shows her lovely legs.
Given this is a long day and she's dealing with varied weather, I think the bun makes sense, and the wisps escaping is as West Coast trend as the unmatched earrings. Thank goodness she is being herself. Black is quite usual for American working women. The only one who can pull off all those bright hat and coat combinations is the Queen, God bless her, always beautiful.
Go Meghan! Bring modern style to the Firm.

  32. Although I usually don't like Stella McCartney's designs, this is a beautiful coat. I do, however, think it is styled wrong. The coat is so dressy and would be perfect for an evening at the theatre or to wear over a lovely dress at a cocktail party. Instead Meghan has chosen rather casual attire to go with the coat…jeans, boots, funky purse and such a messy hairdo. Given that Meghan is soon going to be. Duchess, she needs to seriously up her game and appearance.

  34. ⭐️ Kudos for Meghan wearing the "huit brand"
of jeans, helping secure employment for 400 people in the little town of Cardigan, Wales (population 4,000). THAT exemplifies the essence of supporting local brands with fashion choices. Kudos to the caring and courageous person who basically saved the town in a way by rescuing that local industry. I will be including that company for at least one or two pair of jeans for my family and I as I also continue to support San Diego and other American brands. :)

🧀🎂Loved, loved, loved the concept and design of the "cheesecake". How clever. How practical. How fun for foodies like Harry and Meghan. (I hope they get to take that home.) I want one, lol. Good concept for that Wales company to take that ball and run with it and start a "cheesecake" mail order item of the "cheesecakes" if they haven't already. I would definitely order them for me and my family and for gifts. Very cute idea.

👜 Loved the purse. It is a classic and it comes in a lot of beautiful colors and has a place on the back outside of the purse for cell phones, etc. It comes in a larger size also.

😧 I would not have wanted my hand kissed by a strange guy. Sorry. Lots and lots of handshaking is courageous enough. Unless the guy is part of the event as a war veteran, like when Kate let the elderly gentleman, a veteran of WWII, give her a light kiss on the cheek. That's a different situation. :)

    Harry looked silly happy. ❤️

🤔 Remember all the comments Kate received just by gently moving a curl from her shoulder at that rembrance ceremony while she was one the balcony watching the wreaths being placed? (I thought that was perfectly okay that she did that and not a big deal but that did make headlines.) Remember all the comments here strongly suggesting that Kate keep her hair out of her face and not be fussing with her hair so much at events and walkabouts?

Just a guess. But I think her earrings are from SofiaDay.com, a small up and coming outlet created and run by a young woman right out of her home, located just 20 minutes north of where I am. Meghan wore their Diamond Bar Stack Ring on her outing prior to this. (per People magazine)
The earring is called a "climber earring" and comes with two items on one part of the earring and then a separate item for the other part of the earring. The lady offers different motifs in the "climbers".
I personally think that that is where Meghan got those gold bar earrings as they have them at SofiaDay also.
I think we will see Meghan wear a lot of this brand as it is right up her alley stylewise. The lady at SofiaDay

Not a fan of the pants, elasticized boots, unstyled hair or the monochrome look with the black scarf. I would love to see Meghan kick it up a notch in the style department and go a little bolder, though I get that she’s very California chic. But a beautiful engagement as ever and everyone looks rightful delighted to see them!

I think Meghan looks particularly great in this slightly off the shoulder look, like what she’s wearing today and her dress from her UN speech. It’s a flattering but not flashy neck line. Would love to see it on a wedding gown!

    3. I agree Kelly about straightening curly hair. My hair was stick straight until puberty. Then it was a hot mess for years -- frizzy and out of control. There are so many great products out there that can tame the frizz, but enhance the curls. Even her messy bun would look better with curly hair. I cannot tell you how many hair stylists I have been to that can't cut curly hair so their go to suggestion is to straighten it. Meghan looks so much better with healthy curly hair.

The brand has been around for a while and is known really in relatively smaller professional circles.. bankers and so on. It's always been sort of a niche brand. It is relatively more "affordable" than the luxury brands but is really well designed.
I do have to say that this "vaccination" angle is new and must be part of the rebranding effort. At first they were branding themselves as one of the few "nice" bags that work for women that need to carry stuff... I bought my first Zurich years ago when you could hardly get a bag that looked half decent, where you could carry your all devices/chargers and didn't cost an arm and a leg.
The CSR initiative on vaccinations probably came with the new name. Not sure how I think about that because I have seen Milli Millu go through different generations of branding effort - they have been trying for years to scale up. So I will take the CSR aspect of it with a grain of salt. But I still do love the bags and definitely believe they deserve to be promoted.

  41. Meghan's an actress and I've noticed many of them favor this look (black or neutrals) during public appearances. If you haven't noticed pay attention to the sea of beige/taupe/black dresses during awards shows and how they're often dressing in those magazines shopping and stuff. Part of it is convenience (can't really go wrong with neutrals and black), the other is that the lack of color focuses the attention on the face which they rightfully consider their best asset. In Meghan's case, what you immediately notice in these photos is her heart-shaped face, her large expressive eyes, her big megawatt smile, and not so much the clothes.

I think Kate often has the problem in that she lets the clothes wear her. Meghan goes too far in the opposite direction -- she doesn't even want you to look at the clothes she's wearing.

Harry and Meghan where pitch perfect in spite of the hour delay which must have rattled them.

When in the presence of children they both LIGHT UP, Meghan seems to have that natural touch and the moment when Harry tells them to give Meghan a group hug was beyond adorable! so sweet of him! or course he was like release her, she's mine!!

I just have no problems with her style choices, she looks lovely and at ease with her choices and that is IMHO the main function of fashion. She also makes interesting choices. I loved the boots and the sweater she wore the most. I have no complaints.

    2. I think she will do well on her own in her own way. She's a 36 yr old successful American woman who had carved out an amazing life before Harry came on the scene. Her marrying Harry and becoming a Royal will always have opposition for those obvious reasons. It is too bad because she is such a fantastic person. I am so looking forward to their journey as a couple and I won't read ANY comments but those here at WAM. So many of those "other sites" comments are vile, I made the mistake when Catherine first married William by reading some of them and it was too upsetting to read such vitriol. I am reminded a bit of Diana, saying she knows she has the attention, what can she do with it? Here's Meghan, not even married yet, and making such positive choices with her wardrobe. This is one spectacular way to send a message.

What better than to cause a rush for a bag where every bag purchased will help vaccinate children? She's basically guaranteeing contributions to a charity. What better than to push global business to a small firm that sought to put a local community back to work?

This is what so much of being a modern royal is about, Diana came to see that more than 20 years ago. Meghan is off to a good start.

I loved Everything about this visit... but The Minute I saw her hair I almost screamed "Enough with The Messy Bun! You're Not Going To Yoga Class! (eye roll) She looks lovely with her hair up & the front tendrils framing her face... But, I believe there is No Reason that the bun & gathered hair has to be So UnTidy!? Nothing fancy, but just tidy! The tendrils are a personal preference, but while lovely, they do lead to a lot of tucking behind the ears. Ok, I'm off my soapbox! Her outfit was lovely & Thx Charlotte for all of the history on each piece & it's label! I love learning about new companies (to me) & it expands my shopping horizons. :) I'm Obsessed With Her Bag!!!!! OMG! I Love It!!! Becca I completely agree with you. I find the hairstyle, tendrils and all, to be flattering to her face. My problem is that it looks like she just pulled her hair into a bun as she was running out the home. I put more trouble when I go to work, I expect the same from a princess.
It doesn’t need to be “done” for every engagement, but spending an hour or two with a pro teaching her to make a more interesting bun, won’t be a waste of her time.

  65. Kudos to Meghan for wearing pants. She rocks them. I often prefer to wear pants even for work events as I get cold very easily and they help to keep me warmer than a skirt or dress would. I am not, however, a fan of the "messy" updo, which she tends toward. She has lovely hair so I find it a shame. It's ok for it to fall in her face - that is going to happen, especially after a day of events, but it looks so haphazardly thrown together and not particularly stylish in my view.

I do agree with people who say that the royal family often go for bright colours, it would stand out more. But I am quite happy that Meghan isn’t getting it all 100% correct just yet. That would just be too much! So like we did with Kate, let her find her way. Maybe she will be the royal who wears black and neutrals when Kate was the royal who wore skinny jeans and Breton tops with cork swoon wedges! That’s ok. The more sophisticated non-corporate style will come with time. The hair though, the hair... she could fix her hair a bit. That would make a big difference. My only whinge!!!

  69. I’ve actually waited until now to digest the day, even though I caught most of it on News as it happened, rather than rushing in. I’m still over awed how beautiful she is, and what a lovely, warm and outgoing nature so I’m still a bit giddy when I see these two together. It’s such a lovely thing and there seems to be such electricity around them both.
At first I was a little thrown by the all black ensemble, but it seems she’s sticking to her own sartorial choices ( some call it this American style look) and maybe it’s a quick way of establishing a key signature “overall look” that people can associate with her before the wedding on this whirlwind tour of the isles. When you’ve pointed out all the details of each item she’s worn it all adds up to a very thoughtful dress code. Having heard the comments about she may change her style to become “royal” I would disagree she’s not some shy inexperienced twenty something, but a confident woman who knows her style reference and I applaud her for sticking to her own sense of style for these types of engagements. Sure the big royal occasions will require hats and suits suitable for trooping of the colour/garter ceremony etc which tbh we haven’t really seen her in yet nor probably ever done before so on those types of occasions I’m sure she’ll have a different take on it.
I must say I loved her interaction with everyone today and thought it was a brilliant start.

  70. Another fantastic outing for Harry and Meghan. The charisma these two have is impressive - they look like the fun couple that everyone wants to be friends with!! Although I understand the comments re her messy chignon, I wear one myself frequently, although admittedly usually in casual settings. Right now it appears to be a deliberate part of her approachable American charm. I guarantee you that even if Meghan doesn't read these comments her good friend and stylist guru Jessica M. certainly reads them. Her outfit was gorgeous and full of thoughtful nods to good causes. Just reluctantly passed on a beautiful stole myself as I saw it was made of fox fur😞. There's something odd about the combination of business and dressy and I'm not sure where I'd wear it, really. Work? My colleagues would be like 'why are your shoulders showing.' Brunch? Everyone else would be more casual. A conundrum! I am LOVING all these trends and some lower-cost picks. I also love hearing about some new brands. Meghan is a treat to follow.

  74. I grew up in LA and something that is very important is having your own look...and I love her hair. Probably because that’s how I wear my own hair. Our clothes and style are very different from the Royal Family, of course. She wears makeup! I love her clothes. Especially the theory jacket and I feel so validated in my recent purchase of velvet boots. I really recommend them. They look great with everything. I love the look, cut, and color of many of Kate’s pieces. But some I don’t understand...other culture, Royal culture, and the expectations and rules. Like she, Megan, wears pants. I like pants. So much easier to not have to worry about your dress flying up especially when kneeling down. Serious points to Kate for keeping her clothes in place. Back to Megan’s pants I do agree that they might be too casual. She could have done just as well with a black skirt. Again, I’m American, I don’t know how formal clothes need to be to keep the Royal family up to standard. It’s personality too. I think she could blend her style with something more like what Kate wears while still keeping her own palate. Her coloring is also really different. Kate has a black coat with some white trim that I think would equally suit Megan. And like most said she’ll grow and change while she figures things out. Remember this is my from Los Angeles American point of view!

  75. ALL of Meghan's coats have been very classic choices. White, navy, tan, black. I think she's dressing like a woman her age should dress and by that I mean that at this point in life you should know what works and what does not, and look confident wearing it. The buns could be tweaked a bit; I would agree with that opinion, but overall she looks good. And I guess the answer is that she DID give Wales a nod with her jacket and bag. ;-) Call it theme dressing, call it what you like, but she did it and I'm glad. It was a respectful gesture on her part.

The only thing I questioned was her comment about Harry being a feminist. I have mixed feelings about that tidbit.

Another brilliant success, IMHO!! I still can´t get over that coat (swoon!!) and the "back-story" of the bag and the jeans does send the exactly right signals... Those two companies won´t have to worry anymore about whether they will achieve what they want.. Great job, Meghan!
The amount of time Harry and Meghan spent during that walkabout - amazing (I was watching the live coverage and it seemed endless (in a positive way!!!) compared to other walkabouts I´ve watched in my life). It must have been a nightmare for royal aides as the whole schedule had to be postponed as they didn´t seem to shorten any time during that visit in order to get some time back after that train delay...
Harry is positively glowing every time he´s out with her.. it´s heartwarming, to say the least!
Meghan is genuinely interested in what she´s doing here and she´s off to a great start! She puts people at ease and the children seemed to very quickly warm to her which is always a good sign...
The neckline for her wedding dress would be absolutely beautiful... I hope the weather will be fine, though, or she will be freezing.....LOL!
All in all: I enjoyed every minute and every photo/video of this visit!! Well done, Meghan and Harry, well done!!!

  83. My first reaction to the picture of Meghan arriving in Cardiff was that she looked funereal. My second was that she looked very elegant. I think she will learn not to wear all black. I do like the coat, the boots, the jacket, and even the neat trousers. Instead of dressing to match, Prince Harry chose the brightest sweater in his all blue wardrobe, maybe realizing that some visibility was needed!

I agree with everyone who says Meghan needs to keep her hair out of the way. It hides part of her beautiful face, and becomes quite a distraction as she constantly pushes it away. And I don't see the point of a messy bun and dangling locks. The drawing of Meghan that Charlotte uses shows how lovely Meghan looks with a side swept style. Her lovely oval face should be framed by a manageable haircut. Someone suggested that she let her natural curls return, and that could also be a solution.

Yes, Claudia (Aye, Claudia :-), that green bag will generate funds for very worthy causes. Bravo to Meghan for the bag and for the Prince of Wales top, honoring Wales and her future family.

  84. So funny. After the children did the dance routine for Harry and Meghan, one little boy yelled out, "Are you married yet?" That caused a little girl to chime in, "We're going to dance at your wedding." Harry laughed and said, "I believe it." So. There is a photo of Harry and Meghan crouching by the wall to watch the children's dance performance (another endearing thing they did). And, by the expressions on Harry and Meghan's faces they enjoyed the performance. Or maybe that was when the little girl left the stage crying, but either way, maybe in keeping with Harry and Meghan's desire to include the public on their wedding day, maybe the children will perform early on at the wedding reception. :) Wouldnt that be sweet?

although not wearing much black clothes myself, I do like Meghan black clothes, and that coat is gorgeous !!!!! so elegant using different materials ! and , more over, what I do like is that she wears trousers for official duties ! she dares ! to day her global look was, to me, perfect, in tune with what she is , a 36 years old successfull business woman, with a big haert, and I do hope she sticks to her style, of course depending on the situations and the royals she is with ! she probably would not wear tight trousers during a ceremony with the Queen...LOl I can understand why she goes so well with Harry, he has been quite the bad teen, and now, while beeing polished and absolutely good manered, he has a way to show a tranquill independance of views and behaving when possible, which goes very well with Meghan background !
