Harry and Meghan Attend Anzac Day Dawn Service & Wedding Music Details!

It was an early start for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle - the couple honoured Australia and New Zealand's war dead at the Dawn Service at Wellington Arch.

The couple arrived just before 5 am.

Anzac Day has been commemorated in London since the first anniversary of the Anzac landings at Gallipoli in 1916, when King George V attended a service at Westminster Abbey and more than 2,000 Australian and New Zealand troops marched through the streets. Since then, the services have become an important moment to recognise the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who died during the landings.

Anzac Day, April 25, is a national day of remembrance for Australia and New Zealand. It is commemorated as a public holiday in both countries with memorial ceremonies held at various locations.

Members of the public ahead of the service.

It is the first of two services for the couple today; at midday they will attend the Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey. Richard Palmer reports the couple will be joined by Prince William.

A video from Simon Perry.

The service began at the New Zealand memorial, during which Prince Harry laid a wreath.

The service included readings, the Last Post, silence, reveille and national anthems.

Abide With Me.

Harry and Meghan, joined by the New Zealand and Australian High Commissioners, then walked to the Australian memorial.

Commemoration events are an important part of royal working life - we can expect to see Meghan and Harry attend them frequently in the coming years.

A video from the memorial.

Harry and Meghan signed the book of remembrance.

Prince Charles delivered an address honouring Australian soldiers at the Dawn Service in Villers-Bretonneux in France.

More from the Express:

'The couple met Te Ataraiti Waretini from Ngati Ranana, the London Maori Club, with a ritual known as a hongi. This is when visitors press their noses to those of their hosts and breathe together.
The leader of the cultural group said: “(Meghan) was amazing. I’m not sure if it’s her first time at a Maori ceremony but she did very very well. “It was really lovely to meet her and share the breath of life and share our culture with her and Harry.”

Meghan wore the long grey military style Smythe Pagoda Jacket, from the Fall 2018 collection (with thanks to Meghan's Mirror).

Meghan chose a black floppy hat.

Meghan wore her Sarah Flint Jay pumps.

She carried the Gucci Dionysus Velvet Mini Chain Shoulder Bag.

And of course, wore a poppy on her lapel.

We also have two Royal Wedding updates to share with you this morning. Yesterday, Kensington Palace released details about Harry and Meghan's music choices for the service at St George's Chapel. "Both Prince Harry and Ms. Markle have taken a great deal of interest and care in choosing the music for their Service, which will include a number of well-known hymns and choral works."

The music will be under the direction of James Vivian, Director of Music, St George’s Chapel. Mr. Vivian said: "The Choristers, Lay Clerks, Organists and I are very much looking forward to this exciting day and are pleased to be performing at the service music chosen by the couple. We are also looking forward to welcoming to St George’s musical colleagues from near and far who will be performing at this very special and joyful occasion."

The Choir of St George's Chapel:

'Conducted by James Vivian, the Choir of St George’s Chapel comprises up to 23 boy choristers from St George’s School and twelve Lay Clerks singing alto, tenor and bass. The Choir, which was founded in 1348, can be heard in venues throughout Europe in addition to its liturgical schedule of eight services per week in St George’s Chapel. Its repertoire draws on music from all ages.'

19-year-old cellist, Sheku Kanneh-Mason won BBC Young Musician 2016, made his BBC Proms debut the following year, and released his debut album, ‘Inspiration’, earlier this year. Sheku is a student at the Royal Academy of Music and combines his studies there with a busy international concert career. Sheku Kanneh-Mason said: “I’m so excited and honoured to perform at Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle’s wedding. I was bowled over when Ms. Markle called me to ask if I would play during the ceremony, and of course I immediately said yes! What a privilege to be able to play the cello at such a wonderful event. I can’t wait!”

Founded and directed by gospel conductor Karen Gibson, The Kingdom Choir is a Christian gospel group based in the South-East of England. The Choir is made up of a group of British artists dedicated to creating a sound that demonstrates the community they share, and has been performing both nationally and internationally for over 20 years. Over this time, the choir has become known for its united sound, warm energy and enthusiastic performance. Karen Gibson said: "The Kingdom Choir is truly honoured to be invited to sing at the wedding of Prince Harry and Ms. Markle, and very excited to be taking part in such a historic moment. It will be a moment that we will always treasure, and we’d like to take the opportunity to wish the couple all the very best for their coming union."

The Orchestra, conducted by Christopher Warren-Green, will be made up of musicians from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the English Chamber Orchestra and the Philharmonia.

Elin Manahan Thomas will join the orchestra. Ms Thomas is a Welsh soprano, best known for her performances of Baroque masterpieces, alongside classical and contemporary works.

The trumpet will be played by David Blackadder, who will join the Orchestra. Mr. Blackadder is the principal trumpet with both the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Academy of Ancient Music, and is a specialist in music of the Baroque.

It was also confirmed the wedding will be televised and broadcast all over the world. ITV will front Royal Wedding coverage for the UK. More from the press release:

'On the day itself, Saturday May 19th, ITV will broadcast live, comprehensive coverage of the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, presented by ITV News at Ten’s Julie Etchingham and ITV’s Phillip Schofield, anchored live from a specially constructed studio on The Long Walk in Windsor. Harry and Meghan – The Royal Wedding will be on air from 9.25am until 3pm, with Julie and Phillip joined by a range of guests including those who know Prince Harry and Meghan, as well as friends of the Royal family.

Joining Julie and Phillip for live coverage of the day will be a range of ITV’s news presenters and reporters. Mary Nightingale will be positioned at Windsor Castle spotting and interviewing guests as they arrive, accompanied by a line-up of fashion experts and Royal commentators.

Rageh Omaar will exclusively join Sentebale, the charity co-founded by Prince Harry, for traditional wedding day celebrations in Lesotho. Rageh will be live from the ‘Mamohato Children’s Centre where he will be joined by beneficiaries and staff many of whom have met and been supported by Prince Harry during his numerous visits to the country.'

James Mates will lead live commentary of the service from inside St George’s Chapel.'

We'll see you at 12 for the Westminster Abbey service.

  4. There is a video after the service where the dignitaries are leaving the , Harry is in fron with the men and Meghan behind with the women. Harry keeps looking back to check on his Meg (as he adorably call her" and the other dignitaries look back with him so sweet. I can only imagine how Meghan is feeling but I wonder how Harry is feeling too, the safety issues, the support from UK people, the excitement of getting married, the criticism received? Bless Harry and Meghan. I pray for their safety, I have read some comments on some websites and the comments seem obsessed - that caused me to worry.

  6. My apologies Becca USA the comment was for Bluefire. I am asking the question because it's clear it was cold early morning at 5am that is why she wore a coat, so the expectation would be to keep warm.

  7. Omg I came to check on a whim but didn't think you'd actually post this early. Thank you for your dedication. From what I can see Meghan looks lovely. I don't actually know know what this service is about, so I look forward to your update (or I'll Google but I should be sleeping good right now).

  8. Does Meghan have her own budget for clothes yet or she wears what she has or maybe what she's been given. Im glad she's wearing a hat because it's a memorial service but I wish she wore a more polished hat instead of this wide-brimmed one.

    1. For most Americans a hat is a 'foreign object'. Most stores carry the wide brim with, unfortunately, a big flower slapped on the side, or the dreadful Fedora style. On the few occasions I've worn a hat it's a pillbox - that's just what I like. I agree that Meghan's hat is not the BRF "norm" but the simplicity was fitting for a 5 a.m. outside service. You have to admit it was better than the 'working in the garden' hat on the lady next her her. :) I'm sure, in time, Meghan will be wearing hats that conform to British styles but I hope she also keeps some of her own style and doesn't become 'cookie cutter' in her hat choices.

    2. I loved the floppy hat on her. I really don't think the beret style hats flatter her as much as this one. It seems to sharpen her facial features and jaw line while the big hat softens them. I was surprised and never expected she could wear such a hat. I had about given up on her in the hat department. I think Kate wore a blue floppy hat to a church event in the last few months. She was criticized by some, but it was one of my favorites.
As someone remarked, she does remind me of Jane Seymour, the actress, in that hat especially, but her body type as well. Isn't she British?

    3. This hat was a little casual for my tastes for this event but I like the one she chose later in the day.

"Stylish, but with a twist" is what comes to my mind. And I don´t mean that in a negative way. The style of the hat was what was "the twist" for me. It´s rather "bohemian-looking", something out of the 70ies aera. Again, I don´t mean this in a negative way. Yes, it´s different than "the usual royal style" if I may call it like that. And it´s interesting to watch myself, what my reaction is.
One part of me really is expecting "a certain thing", apparently "a certain way to dress" when it comes to the Royals, particularly the British Royals. Queen Maxima is Maxima - and that´s it. She somehow managed to almost create a "brand" - and to make people accept it. Somehow it´s because of her outgoing, no-nonsense, exuberant personality. Plus, she likes to laugh about herself. And we´ve all come to the conclusion that she´s serious about her job, dedicated and interested - ready to be of service to the nation and the people she represents.
So "what about Meghan"? I´m a huge fan, but I have to admit, that part of me that accepts Maxima, is not so easy on Meghan. Why? NOT because she´s bi-racial. NOT because she´s an actress. NOT because she´s American. NOT because she´s outspoken. NOT because of the causes she supports. So what is it? The difference is that Maxima is "easy on us". Laughing, smiling, exuberant, outgoing most of the time, you accept her clothes´choices as part of that personality.
Meghan on the other hand, says most of the times "This is serious business" through her clothes´choices. And I know she really means it. And somehow that makes me expect "business" which somehow also means "respect certain dress codes".

The "twists" she talked about, that she likes, because they somehow "break" that "perfection" - have exactly that purpose: they are surprising and kind of "disturbing to the eye". And I have to admit: I´m totally fine with it - until it comes to a point where it could be regarded as "disrespectful to the occasion". I am not yet fully able to define where to "draw the line" here. It´s very obviously very much dependent on your own upbringing, culture, what you were told is "acceptable". I´m not criticising here. I´m just questioning myself and my own irritation that Meghan´s "twists" sometimes cause. They really challenge my own "comfort zone" - and that´s interesting. How many "Do´s and Don´ts" have I accepted as "given facts" - when maybe they are not? How much do I personally still want to "fit in" - although my own life so far has been very often more than "unconventional" - and still is?
It´s a process that Meghan´s "twists" have started and I´m almost torn at the moment between "This is interesting and sometimes challenging" and "NO, that´s EASY: this one is ok, this one isn´t". It´s quite fascinating for me to see how much the "everything is black or white" part in me wants to take control. Makes life easier in a way, yes, but not really. There´s a part in me that wants to challenge "old notions", traditions, "We´ve always done it like that"s, et al. I´m curious where Meghan´s "twists" will take me.. I for one am in for a very interesting "ride"... Thanks, Meghan. You sure as h*** are pushing me out of my comfort zone! ;-))

I enjoyed your thoughts on Maxima (whom I personally just adore), on Meghan (who says one thing should be off about your outfit, I hope I quote her well) and on yourself. I used to see -and maybe I still do- things black and white too, but I think I learnt a lot during these years of commenting here and from bluhare too, I hope she does not mind me saying this:)
And I so agree on how our own upbringing, culture define us and what we think about certain things.(like going to church in a sleeveless dress etc) But I find it an enormous fun to be here and follow and comment on these things, ans see how Meghan will do her best to "fit" in. And not necessarily want that but I am sure you know what I mean!

About today, she looked really lovely, my fave was the hat and shoes, I think it suited her face very much.
Harry looked handsome as well and they did share a very sweet moment there.:)

Also that lady with a hat (?), that to be honest I wear when I go riding a bike or in the garden only in pink, so she gave some funny look to Meghan, naughty naughty:)

About the music, her choice picking that young cellist is just adorable.Wow! Can't believe how close the wedding is, can't wait!

Thank you Charlotte for the early post and hello!

Forgive me my "morning stream of consciousness", lol, but seriously, I´m a huge Meghan fan and the latest discussion (plus on or two others we had in the past) really made me think about "How come...?".. I wish her and Harry all the very best and every possible success with their work and their lives....

    3. I also love Maxima. She is just so self aware and confident. She knows how to use her strengths to the advantage and benefit of the Netherlands.

Part of my lack of total adoration of Meghan has nothing to do with Meghan herself and more the 'this is a fairy tale' aspect of their relationship. Like Meghan was some poor scullery maid that Harry wisked away and brought into a whole new world. Meghan was fairly wealthy and well known in her own right. They had mutual friends and interests/passions, so it's not surprising they were introduced and clicked. Yes, it's a different life than Meghan probably had planned but not super surprising to me.

Annett, thanks for your kind comment. "That" hat - it reminded me of "Vera", the crime series (LOL!). I´ve seen women wearing such hats while working in the garden, too! ;-)))
And I agree, I love Meghan´s hat, combined with the rather "military-style" coat, it suited her perfectly...her shoes are divine most of the times anyway... I´m not the usual "shoe-crazy woman", but hers - uhh, make me wish to win the lottery a.s.a.p. and learn to walk in sky-high heels...

As’ usual, Meghan surprises us , but for the best ! Great hat, unusual for the BRF of course, but matching well with the coat, not too formal but respectfull of the circumstances . It must feel very strange to stand’ for a dawn service in open air’, quite solemn and certainly emotional !
Could I add’ Charlotte, that I am very 8mpressed by the great and quick’ job you do , about Meghan and Katherine, and what I appreciate most, as a foreigner not knowing everything about British ways, is that your blog not’only speaks about fashion, but also explains the situations, the traditions’, the laws . 14. Anonymous 06.45: the Anzac Day service commemorates the battle at Gallipolee during World War 1 1914-1918. This year commemorates 100 years since Aussie troops fought on the Western Front on the Somme and Villes-Bretonaux to name just two instances so its especially poignant. Our troops fought with troops from all over but especially New Zealand and British. Im not a good history student and dont always get it right and obviously there's more to it than that.🎖☺ Anyway Meghan looks great as always.

  16. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! Today (and at the Queen's birthday concert) she nailed it. This is what I've been hoping for from Meghan since she first arrived on the scene - the perfect royal look to go with her keen work ethic and warm personality. Fabulous!

I guess if she and Harry are to take on a fairly big Commonwealth role, ANZAC Day might become a regular fixture in their diary - a bit like St Patrick's Day is for William and Kate. I think it's a fantastic idea to have a royal ambassador/cheerleader for the Commonwealth now that the Queen is reducing her workload a bit and I can't wait to see how this role pans out for them.

She does look a bit "stunned" to be up at 5 a.m. freezing out in the cold at a very solemn occassion--as she was , I'm sure, but hey!- that's part of the " stiff upper lip" training I'd say. Did you like it, Annette? I´ve never seen anything like it. Is the "poppies decor" made of all the poppies the lady ever bought? Quite an idea, the whole thing..... and quite impressive...

      Delete
    2. I think I like the poppy coat - it's certainly a bit different! I would have preferred it if the poppies had either been just around the waistline or just on the vertical line though - the two together look a bit too much for me.

      Delete
    3. Helen H, I agree. Both together seem a bit too much for a somber occasion.

      Delete
    4. What a coat! It almost comes off as too comical to me, which doesn't fit the feeling of the service.

      Delete
    5. The poppy coat startled me as well. Under Canadian guidelines only a single poppy (which is produced by the Canadian Legion) should be worn on the left over the heart. http://www.legion.ca/remembrance/the-poppy/how-to-wear-a-poppy

A friend who was part of an honour guard also taught me that after the 11 o'clock service (or funeral/memorial of a veteran as the case may be) ends the poppy ought to be removed and disposed of with respect.

Canadian students are given poppies at school each year and are (supposed to be) taught to wear them in the proper, respectful manner. It is stressed that they are not decorative or fashion items. Thus they should not appear on hats or in multiple clusters on clothing. That said, as happens in many situations where certain protocols and manners are required, they are not always observed. Likely out of ignorance or perhaps the failure of some teachers to do their jobs.

I would be interested to know whether the same is true in the UK, Australia or New Zealand if anyone cares to comment.

      Delete
    6. Eve from Germany25 April 2018 at 18:26

Thanks for the input, Philly. I think I remember members of the Royal family wearing two poppies at the same time - honouring different regiments maybe? But I could be wrong... I didn´t know about these rules and would really be glad if someone from the UK, Australia or New Zealand could share whether there are similar "rules" there...

      Delete
    7. Members of the BRF including the Queen and Kate have worn several poppies at once. I think the Queen always wears 4.

      Delete
    8. Philly, I am a Canadian teacher, in Ontario, and certainly in my school board, students are not given poppies. We do however, take time to talk about their meaning. I take offence to your comment about teachers failing to do their jobs. Surely parents are also responsible for teaching their children respect about all symbols, not just the poppy. Also, although the Legion's site says the poppy should be worn on the left over the heart, I once saw a Legion official on TV state, "It really doesn't matter where you wear your poppy, just wear it with pride and respect." Many members of the Royal Family wear several poppies at one time. They are not in the wrong. Wearing a poppy is less about rules and more about honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

      Delete
    9. I could be wrong, but I think the royals sometimes wear a poppy for each of their family members who have gone to war and that’s why they sometimes have more than one poppy on.

      Delete
    10. I’ve only recently discovered this site and have never commented on a site before but totally agree with your sentiments Laura. Well said. I believe that all who have died in the service for their country should be remembered without it becoming burdened with rules and etiquette. The freedoms that we experience today have come at a high price and as long as we remember that I think that’s all that matters 🙂

Oh, could this mean we get some baroque music at the wedding, with trumpets? I LOVE those pieces!! Trumpeter and singer specialised amongst others in baroque music - sounds like it! Can´t wait! And maybe some music like the "Joyful, joyful" song at Carl Philip and Sofia´s wedding? It was "unusual" and surprising as an "exit of the bridal couple"-song - but I LOVED IT!! 1. From https://www.townandcountrymag.com/society/tradition/a13970104/how-to-watch-prince-harry-meghan-markle-wedding/:

The Today show has announced its coverage. On the day of the wedding, commentary will begin on NBC at 4:30 a.m. with Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb reporting live from "an exclusive vantage point overlooking Windsor Castle."

PBS will also be showing the wedding live. The channel will run a five-part nightly series starting May 14, which will end with a live broadcast of the wedding on May 19.

CBS will start their coverage at 4 a.m. eastern from Windsor. Tina Brown will join Gayle King and Kevin Frazier live.

    2. The Today Show is broadcasting from 5:00 am I believe. They will definitely be showing the wedding. Maybe others too but I know for sure NBC.

First post for me! I read every day.

    3. Check BBC coverage. I find it preferable to listening to American "experts" who don't have a clue about the BRF. I recall one suggesting that Sophie wore earrings to match the tile floor of St George's Chapel. Really!

      Delete
    4. It will also be on BBC America starting at 4:00 a.m. Eastern time. I plan to warch that coverage -- at least they will probably be able to identify the well-known people attending, where U.S. coverage seldom recognizes even major figures unless they're known in the U.S., too! It can be actually embarrassing and I think quite disrespectful at times, so I always try to watch British coverage of British events if it's available. I was actually shocked at the Olympics when theh recognized the Dutch king!

    5. 😀 Two endorsements later, perhaps the BBC should fly us over and reward us with front row seats!

  27. Anzac Day is arguably sacrosanct within the Australian and New Zealand cultures. It is a time of sorrow and remembrance and is a form of military funeral. But it never glorifies war. The Dawn Parade timing exists for two reasons - it commemorates the time of the Gallipoli landings and also the dawn stand-to in the trenches. It carries symbolism as well. It represents the bleakness of war moving to the light of peace. Veterans are always the last to enter the service grounds. You hear their footfalls growing closer to you in the dark. Those footfalls come to represent the men that did not return and lie in a foreign land. When the veterans enter the light, they are those who survived and returned to us. New Zealand's casualties numbers for WW1 was high, 60% of those who went to war died or were injured. Anzac Day is a time that we teach our children the sacrifice that was given of all of those who went on the body, the mind and the spirit. Traveling to Anzac Cove has become a right of passage for both Australian's and New Zealander's.

    1. KiwiNic, thank you for these insights. Until Charlotte mentioned that Anzac Day was on Meghan and Harry's calendar, I'd never heard of it. (I live in the US.) Just a few minutes ago, I googled it to find out who wore the poppy coat, and there were news reports and pics of people all over attending dawn services. This is so moving. What a remarkable way to remember the sacrifices made by so many.

KiwiNic: Thanks for sharing this information with us!!
I watched a documentary yesterday on German tv, and they talked about WW1 - and that it really was the "war of the cousins". Nikolaus II,Tsar of Russia, Wilhelm II, Emperor of Germany and George V, King of Great Britain, were all cousins. Their grandmother was Queen Victoria. They say that WWI really started because George V and Wilhelm II hated each other. Wilhelm apparently was Queen Victoria´s favourite grandson. I once heard it was him whom she wished to have with her during her final hours.. and he was devastated when she died. Of course there were many other reasons why the war started, but to think that COUSINS who knew each other quite well actually, started a war with millions of people dead, wounded, and traumatized for life.... unbelievable....

    5. Very insightful, thank you!

And Eve...I know!! I've thought of this many times. I love history, and the Edwardian-WW1 eras are my favorite. It's one thing to study the War from a strictly historic standpoint, but once you get on the personal level of family members fighting one another, it can be that much more chilling.

    6. Thank you for sharing, KiwiNic. That was eloquent and poignant.

    7. It also symbolises the first landings at Gallipoli by the ANZAC troops, which were at 5am on the 25th April 1915. One of the most heartening things as a New Zealander, is going to the dawn service in small towns across the country and seeing so many young children there. I believe that this is something our countrys's, Australia and New Zealand should be incredibly proud of.

  32. What a lovely coat- perfect for this occasion. It has a nice military touch without being to obvious. I wasn’t sure about the light colour at first, but honestly there is no need to always wear black, dark blue or grey to that kind of engagements. The hat seems mismatched to me, but I have accepted that Meghan’s ideas for fashion are very different than mine. Will still comment on it though.
I think it is great that she already has some royal work experience under her belt when she marries.
The choices of musicians make me a bit excited. I love classical pieces- so no wonder I wasn’t the biggest fan of the music at the last Swedish wedding (like the couple very much though). Harry and Meghan might have more freedom as he is now only sixths in line. Isn’t place six the first who wouldn’t even have to ask for permission to marry?

    1. I believe the stipulation includes the first six in the line of succession. It is not a matter of no marriage without approval. One can still marry, as Princess Margaret Rose could have married Gr. Cpn. Townsend. It regards keeping one's place in the line of succession, as well as some side benefits, funds.
What I am wondering is if Prince Andrew will re-marry Sarah, now that he is seventh. I would like that.

  33. Here's a woman who looks like she really did get up at 4 AM for a 530 AM engagement - a little whacky - a little out of it - and that's okay! I'm not sure there would be enough coffee for me in these circumstances and Meghan certainly looks better than I might. In both instances today, Meghan comes across exactly as she should as a future royal in her sartorial choices. She's dumped the tied-up-like-a-bag coat look and gotten her hair out of her face. She looks well put-together at an hour when most of us are blissfully asleep and carries off both engagements with confidence from what I can tell from the pictures. I genuinely love the suit she wore at the second appearance and I think it indicates that she can be as royal as the next but with her own take on it - more than anything I have seen her wear before. I continue to believe she is very much on a learning curve and will be for some time given her background, nevertheless, the successes are starting to show!

    1. I agree! She’s finding her way in choosing clothes that are suited to the occasion, befitting a royal, and still her own style. Both outfits today hit this mark and it’s interesting to watch as she grows into her role how she is shaping her wardrobe.

  34. The photo in the chairs made me laugh.

H: I told you there would be a lot of royal obligations.
M thinking: I was hoping for ballgowns and tiaras

:-). I'm sure she will come to appreciate all of the remembrances over time.

    1. I'm sure she already appreciates the remembrances. She's not a shallow person. The other thing I like about Meghan is that she seems engaged and interested in what's going on. I believe her extensive yoga experience is at play in her ability to be so fully present. Her acting experience and awareness of the cameras is probably helpful to her as well.

      Delete
    2. Philly, interesting comment about the yoga. Yoga does help with "being" in the present. Also many actors have to really work on that "present" moment concept not only for their stage or camera work but to keep themselves centered with auditions and the general craziness of your world as a performer.

Eeeek. I may be the odd man out here but, to me, with regards to the coat, she looks to be drowning in it. Way too big for her in my opinion. It’s a great coat but it’s just too big for her.

  37. Perfect Meghan, the perfect wife for Harry, who has a strong respect for the military, and who adores the royal job.

  38. That is a hat and a half! I quite like it, though. As someone said above, it’s a bit 70s! For a minute I wondered if she borrowed it from Kate.

Meghan looks very nice and appropriate here. I’m sure the service was very moving, though I would be very concerned about falling asleep at such an early hour!

Looks like Meghan and Harry have chosen a nice mix of styles and voices for their wedding music. Looking forward to hearing it in LESS THAN A MONTH!

  39. She does look a bit sleepy, like a faun! And the hat, Eve, is Ali McGrawish. I was thinking that she looked like Jane Seymour, too. Everything covered---she still looks beautiful! I love the little smiles she and Harry exchanged.

The music sounds wonderful! Does anyone know if there still might be other music at the receptions? I am wondering if Elton John will be there, for example.

Nailed it. I don't even have a quibble.

She has certainly taken a turn for the royal lately (last week's sundress notwithstanding) and I like it. THIS is how a (future) Duchess dresses, in my opinion. Her style is still there (longer length coat, neutral colors, unique accessories [such as the hat]) but it is professional and appropriate for a senior royal.

  41. Meghan looks like she's having a hard time fully waking up haha! I would have a terrible time trying to be alert and polished by 5am. I really am loving her coat, here. The hat is just a bit odd (the style twists that Eve mentioned come to mind, here), but it's very Meghan. I think she looks great.

  43. Absolutely perfect. Very classic coat, with a more “trendy” hat. I know this style of hat has been around for a long long time, but pairing it with the military style coat feels modern to me. Love it. Is it just me, or does her hair look lighter?

  44. I agree with all of you. She has real style all her own, and I hope she keeps that unexpected twist as her clothing becomes more “Royal”, that is, conservative. Love our Meghan.
