The Duke and Duchess of Sussex Support Prince Charles During First Engagement as a Married Couple!

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex carried out their first official engagement as a married couple this afternoon, attending the Prince of Wales' 70th birthday patronage celebration in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.

It's been the most incredible week filled with hype and anticipation leading to Saturday's stunning Windsor wedding. Yesterday, we saw the release of the couple's romantic official wedding portraits and today, just three days after their wedding, Harry and Meghan returned to duties.

A fabulous photo of Meghan with Charles and Camilla.

The couple's decision to support Charles for their first post-wedding engagement is a thoughtful one and has been seen as a wonderful gesture, following the unexpected role Prince Charles played during the Royal wedding. The image of the Prince meeting Meghan at the Quire will remain a vividly memorable moment from the day.

Not only did he step in at the last minute to walk his daughter-in-law down the aisle, he was instrumental in offering advice and helping to select the wedding music. However, it was the unwavering support and kindness he showed Meghan's mother Doria from the moment she arrived in London, that particularly touched Meghan and meant the world to her. During her speech at the wedding reception, the Duchess thanked Charles. The Standard reported: “It was important to her to make a point of thanking him publicly, although, of course, he knows privately how she feels.”

It's clear Meghan already enjoys a very warm relationship with Charles and Camilla.

One of the photographers did a great job capturing this moment between Meghan and Camilla.

Today marked the first of many garden parties the Duchess of Sussex will attend.

Harry delivered a very loving speech. "You have inspired William and I, and looking out here today, it is clear to see that we are not alone". Today marks the one year anniversary of the dreadful tragedy. Harry reflected on the importance of the day during his speech "I would like us to take a moment to remember all those affected by the tragic events at the Manchester Arena a year ago. We are fortunate to have over 250 representatives from the Emergency Services here today."

More from the speech:

'As I was preparing for this afternoon, I looked through the long list of those who had been invited. Pa, I was again struck by the range and diversity of the work which you are involved with.  Currently there are your two major charities, The Prince's Trust and the newly formed – Prince's Foundation – which has brought together your work supporting vulnerable young people in society, the built environment, culture, heritage and education.  These sit alongside your 18 military associations and more than 420 patronages, ranging from music and the arts to rare breeds and plant life.  Although the subjects vary enormously, I know that the way in which you work with each of them does not.
Who amongst you has not known the joy, and perhaps trepidation at receiving a handwritten note in response to some news shared from your organisation, urging you on and asking for more to be done to address this issue or that?  Who has not come away from a meeting with my father, their head spinning with a dozen new ideas which he wants to get underway urgently, having met a group of people or read something that has fired his imagination and started the flow of ideas.
His enthusiasm and energy are truly infectious; it has certainly inspired William and I to get involved in issues we care passionately about and to do whatever we can to make a difference. In fact, many of the issues William and I now work on are subjects we were introduced to by our father growing up.  His passion and dedication are remarkable and seeing so many of you here today, I cannot fail but to be in awe of the drive he has had for so many years, to contribute to the enrichment of society both in this country and around the world.
But Pa, in my mind, this event sums up your approach to work – I know you really didn’t want today to be about you and would far rather the focus be on the people and organisations represented here. I know that in your mind, you see the opportunity of bringing everyone together as a chance to thank them for all of their amazing work! It is your selfless drive to affect change, whether that is to improve the lives of those who are on the wrong path, to save an important piece of our national heritage or to protect a particular species under threat, which William and I draw inspiration from every day.
So, Pa, while I know that you've asked that today not be about you, you must forgive me if I don’t listen to you – much like when I was younger – and instead, I ask everyone here to say a huge thank you to you, for your incredible work over nearly 50 years. Work that has given self-confidence and opportunity to thousands of young people who might not have had the best start in life; Or to champion causes like climate change long before almost anyone else was talking about it; and above all, for your vision and ability to bring people together to make change happen.
You have inspired William and I, and looking out here today, it is clear to see that we are not alone.  You have created an incredible body of work that has, and will continue to make such a huge difference to so many people's lives both here and around the world.
With that, Ladies and Gentlemen, please can I ask you to join me in wishing The Prince of Wales a very Happy Birthday – 6 months ahead of his 70th! How very Royal!'

There was a funny moment when a bee distracted Harry from giving his speech much to Meghan's amusement :)

Today's event celebrates the Prince of Wales' patronages and military affiliations as well as others involved in charities supported by the Prince.

Over 6,000 people were invited from 386 of the Prince of Wales' patronages and 20 of the Prince's military affiliations were represented. A number of guests from the Police, Fire and Ambulance, Mountain Rescue, and RNLI were present.

The royals posed with guests for official photos.

An overview.

Fittingly, a number of the cadets and emergency services personnel attending were first responders after the bombing at the Manchester Arena on 22nd May 2017.

The Telegraph reports;

'It is understood to have been the first choice of the Prince who wanted to use the garden reception to thank his charities and patronages for their work over the years.
A palace insider said: "He wasn't comfortable with a big event that was just about him. He felt like this would be a much better option."
It is the start of birthday celebrations which is likely to involve a private party for family and friends around the actual date of November 14, and a new official portrait.
The Prince is patron or president of more than 400 organisations, focusing on topics ranging from the environment to youth opportunity, food sustainability, architecture and faith.'

Musical performances included the Band of the Welsh Guards, Eschoir (a Welsh male chorus), the National Youth Pipe Band and a gospel choir.

Guests enjoyed a selection of teas, sandwiches and cakes.

The newlyweds were congratulated on their wedding.

More from the Mail Online:

'Sophie Rogers, 26, gave the Duchess what appears to be her first gift. 'Oh how sweet, thank you,' said the Duchess. 'I was just admiring your necklace, it’s beautiful.'
Corporal Gregory Gilbert, 2nd Battalion, Irish Regiment of Canada, said meeting Harry and Meghan was 'wonderful' after he and his colleagues flew over especially for the party. Second Lieutenant Reid Killen said: 'It felt like talking to my youngest son, the Duke reminds me very much of him. 'He's always joking around and Harry has the same sense of humour.' His wife Janine Killen said: 'I always thought the royals were from far, far away but they are very down to earth. They can meet anybody anywhere and have the right words to say.'
Major Kirk Langdon said: 'It was excellent meeting the Duke and Duchess, it was everything I thought it would be.' He added: 'We all came over from Canada, 10 of us were asked to come out and celebrate. We will definitely be going to Windsor and all the other sites.'

A video of the Duke and Duchess chatting with guests, there's also lovely footage of Camilla saying goodbye to them.

The Duke and Duchess are enjoying their first days of married life at Kensington Palace. They are reportedly planning to leave for their honeymoon before the end of the month. When they return, they will undertake several overseas trips along with a schedule of engagements in the UK. We expect to hear news of key areas, campaigns and charities Meghan will support in the coming weeks. In the meantime, she's been formally announced as the fourth Patron of The Royal Foundation.

The Duchess was a picture of elegance in a custom made GOAT Fashion Flavia Silk-Crepe dress (with thanks to innominate).

The £595 dusky pink dress is described as "beautifully fluid and feminine". The fit and flare shaped dress has contrast silk-chiffon dรฉcolletage and sleeves and delicate frayed edge trim on the neckline and cuffs. It was a splendid choice for today's event. It's available at GOAT Fashion and Matches.

Goat Fashion is synonymous with understated luxury. It began as the go-to cashmere range for the fashion cognoscenti over a decade ago. The brand has developed into a full ready to wear collection encompassing signature knits, professional dresses and outerwear. Found in over fifty stockists across the UK, Goat is a truly British brand headed up by founder and designer Jane Lewis. The brand has been a firm favourite of the Duchess of Cambridge and a host of celebrities for years.

The dress also comes in black.

Meghan's pink hat is by milliner Philip Treacy.

Tamara Mellon confirmed Meghan wore their Siren Nappa Leather pumps. They retail for $450 and are currently available in most sizes.

Meghan accessorised with the Vanessa Tugendhaft Rose earrings (with thanks to What Meghan Wore).

A closer look at Meghan's bracelet.

Meghan carried her Wilbur & Gussie Oyster Silk Clutch.

A nice close-up of Meghan's engagement and wedding rings.

And a look at Harry's.

The Duchess of Sussex is off to a great start!

YESSS!! Imagine me pumping my arms in the air in approval! The Duchess (eeep I'm giddy just typing that instead of "Meghan") looks flawless & oh so elegant!

  8. Duchess mode. She's found a good hat shape and look at the updo, no tendrils. The dress underwhelms, but it is most appropriate to the day, with the pale hose and conservative pump. Knew she'd be ready for the part.

WHY could her hair not have looked like this on her wedding day? Such an improvement! My initial thoughts: Great hat, really like the dress- still a little big on her, but I think that's the design rather than the tailoring, and it doesn't bother me here. A big win for her I think! Nice work Meghan!

    1. I think this is her as HRH! When she got married, she was still coming to Harry as herself.... not yet as HRH Princess Henry of Wales, Duchess of Sussex..... Now she is HRH Duchess of Sussex & It would appear she was ready for The Role all along! Seems she drew a line in the sand of "Before & After"! I guess it's not such a crazy thing, just not one we saw coming so distinctly! (including Rocking The Big Royal Jewelry & Rocking The Big Hats & a Sleek HRH look! Why are we surprised.... she knows how to dress for a role & this is the biggest one of her life! I think we just were lulled into thinking her Pre-HRH look was what she was going to just role right into her married life! Clearly she sees it as a distinct line. She is now Regally HRH from Head to Toe (even including hosiery) & even in her graceful carriage! Absolutely Delightful! :) xo

Yes, I get there are rules, and I think she needs to meet the dignity of her position and work, but I hope she's herself while doing it. I like the not done look of her hair. Aside from personal taste on a couple of things, I think she's done really well so far.

    2. Methinks the "messy bun" divide will go the way of various elements the Duchess of Cambridge's style choices that draw ire and fire. Oddly enough and ironically, we don't dis the Queen for her helmet head. Why is that?

There will likely be no middle ground for Meghan here. However, I believe it to be a trend which will pass (like hipster beards and man-buns, beehives, bobs and Gibson girl updos). Eventually something else will come along and those who dislike the messy bun can chill for a bit.

Personally, I'm not usually a messy bun fan and when I see it at a wedding most of the time I can't help but think, "I hope you did that yourself and didn't pay for it."

However, I can appreciate it from time to time depending on the circumstances or the person. For example, I preferred the b&w wedding photo with the tendrils over the green room poses without. Then again, it wasn't as messy as some stylings. Plus, they were going for a relaxed-regal style. For the history books they ditched the relaxed and opted for regal.

Plus I agree with the comment on an earlier thread which dealt with hair and race. Chris Rock did a comedy documentary on the subject which might be of interest to people unfamiliar with the subject. Here is a link to the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QhOoanzh60

In addition to that, most women have some kind of issue or challenge with their hair that is simply what they have to deal with. Calling out our "sisters" for a hair out of place or style choices really isn't any of our business. Preferring one thing over another as individuals is fine; however, saying "you should" or "she should" isn't really our place. At least, it's not mine.

Yes, that's me! I said after the first engagements together after the engagement that the too messy messy bun would have to go once Meghan became an official royal. Her hair looks great today.

      Delete
    4. I do not think the messy bun will go away, I think she will do her hair in different styles for different events but we will see.

      Delete
    5. If stick straight hair without a strand out of place is what reads as 'polished' to you, maybe it's a good opportunity to think about why? This type of hair is easy to accomplish for most white women, but take a look at Meghan's natural texture and think about the extra hours and time it requires for her to have her hair fit your idea of 'polished,' as it does here. I think it looks beautiful today. I also realize that Meghan is bowing to what the public (and other women here) think she needs to do to 'fit in' to this role. There is a lot behind criticism of black hair and hairstyles as being 'inappropriate' or 'unpolished,' and I think it's okay for everyone to have an opinion but I agree - there is no 'she should' that is acceptable here. It just keeps sending the same messages about how women have to conform to the previous ideal of 'appropriate.' I hope some day she rocks her natural texture (Kate too) and that we can begin to let go of some of the fuss about polished hair.

Each time I see them, I fall more & more deeply in love with & in admiration of them!! :) She looks Ethereal again, this time in this light blush chiffon delight! A Big Hat!! I Love It & She Really Carries it off So Well!!! Remember when we were wondering how she would look as A Royal? Could She, Would She wear big Royal Rocks? Could She, Would She wear Big Statement Hats (instead of petite beanies)? The Answer Is Yes!! Plus..... She looks like She's Been Royal All Her Life? Amazing!!

ps. I love love love Camilla's Ensemble! I can't believe how I've become a Fan of Charles & a Fan of Camilla, since The Famous Wedding Week! I see them now in their own light..... no longer just through the lens of my pain over the loss of & the horrible suffering of Diana!

    3. Baring in mind that Charles will be king in the near future I think Harry’s speech and the use of the word “Pa” is really a push in the right direction PR wise. I understand the pain people feel for Diana, she was a pawn in The Firm. We should realize what Camilla and Charles have is a great enduring love story.
As for the Dutchess, she looks polished and beautiful although they struggling a little with wearing a larger hat.

    4. Becca and Olivia, Charles and Camilla have never been vile people. It is fit that their inner good is now being shown. Because so many loved Diana, Camilla was seen as evil. In reality Diana and Charles were very mismatched…a marriage because Charles needed to provide an heir. He and Diana were only together a dozen times before they were wed. I am not saying the lead up to their divorce was a good thing, but it was understandable.

      Delete
    5. Over the years my attitude towards Charles and Camilla has softened from "that homewrecker!" to "they were in love long before he and Diana got engaged... they should be together". But now it's gone even further and I'm thrilled at how they have welcomed Meghan. Charles walking with her was so touching. It warmed my heart.

Clearly I’m not the only one who hasn't heard "Pa" before. Thought that maybe I'd missed it somehow previously.

  24. Do you think it's possible that during their engagement period, that Meghan kept to a base of her own personal style as a Pre-Royal Style, while all the time mapping out what would be her Royal Style! (still in keeping with what she likes), but as an evolution of Herself becoming an HRH? If this distinct before & after style continues... then I will definitely see it as a game plan & that's so ingenious! She will have drawn a distinct line between Meghan the actress & Meghan, HRH Duchess of Sussex! It's ingenious! It's like she is a butterfly that has come out of it's cocoon! :) xo

She was very approachable as Meghan. It was smart of them to get her out as soon as possible. The wedding was a big boost for the RF. Including Charles - by the posts here, it sounds as though many find her more appealing.

    1. I agree 100% Sinead. So many comments here about her dress not "fitting" or it was too plain. My first thought was the dress was reminiscent of her wedding dress. Meghan is a no-frills duchess and it looks great on her. Simple and elegant. Question - why do people think clothing must be form fitting? I think her dress fit to perfection.

      Delete
    2. Helena, I think certain body shapes need a fitted shape dress, Eugenie did not suit the dress she wore on Saturday. She needs a form fitting style for her curves. Meghan on the other hand can wear any shape, she is so slim, clothes hang from her. I personally love that look.It is definitely her style, she has a modern elegance to her. I can’t wait to see what the future brings, now that she is a Duchess. Sinead.

  29. Wow, she definitely took a page from the royal uniform book with this one! And a brand that Kate usually chooses, too!

The hat and hair are perfection and I love this light cream on Meghan. The little frayed sleeves are a nod to her own personal style, I think, and are the only thing keeping this from being completely standard royal, in my opinion. I think it's good that she embraces a bit of that "uniform" English look and thinks she's pulling it off well, although I admit that I didn't expect her to embrace it so soon. I hope to keep seeing these polished looks with touches of Meghan going forward!

Do we think this is a sign that she's abandoning her trendier attempts in favor of more standard looks? Sort of a "I'm married and will now assimilate" kind of thing?

  32. This is another case of the color of a dress getting washed out in the sun with the photos. Just like the dress Kate wore to the wedding that was yellow that everybody criticised her for because they thought it was white. If you look at the photos from the website of the designer for this dress, it is clearly much darker and in my opinion looks a lot better than the white washed out photos in the sun. How lovely they look. So happy for them as husband & wife now!!

    1. Isabella my exact same thoughts. We know for a fact that this dress is a dusty rose color but it looks white or a grey white in many of the photos. Good example that Kates dress was probably a yellow as stated in the press release and fgot washed out in the bright light. I bet the pink color looked wonderful in person. Suspect the nylons disappeared in person.

I'm thinking the Newest Fab Four may be Charles & Camilla, Harry & Meghan! :) xo For as out of the loop as he has apparently felt with W&K, (we'll never know for sure how accurate this is) as they are much involved & extremely close with The Middletons..... It's nice to see him have such a role to fill with The Duke & Duchess of Sussex. He's Harry's Father & Meghan has no family in The Uk. They all appear to get on Famously & it seems to be quite organic! I'm truly happy for Charles! :) xo

She nailed it! The dress isn’t to my personal taste, but I think she looks lovely and very “Duchess-y”. I think it shows how well she will fit into her new role. She looks perfectly dressed without drawing attention to herself during someone else’s celebration. And I really love the hat!

I also really thought Charles looked quite nice in his outfit and really liked Camilla’s ensemble. But I’m curious about Camilla’s choice of pearl choker. That’s a style I associate completely with Diana, and I’m sure she tries to stay far away from any Diana comparisons. Is that a common style for the royals to wear with the multi-strand pearl choker and broach/jewel in the middle?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That's a classic Sloane Ranger necklace, though a little dated nowadays. It reminds me of what one wore, if one was lucky enough to have decent pearls, thirty years ago.

      Delete
    2. Queen Mary always wore a choker, of course that was the style of the day. I've seen QE and Princess Anne wear a choker on occasion. Camilla seems to wear one, more often than not, and changes out the jewel setting. I think it's becoming her "look" and carried off well, along with her big hats! :)

      Delete
    3. Camilla wears a lot of pearl chokers. I bet it's one strand of pearls with the brooch attachy things. She's got several colors I think.

      Delete
    4. Jessica in Los Angeles23 May 2018 at 00:31

Thanks for the replies. I had no idea about the pearls and it struck me as very odd. I loved her outfit and hat here and at the wedding.

      Delete
  43. I was guessing what color she would wear today and my bet was on blush. So happy she choose this color. It's perfect for a garden party - pastels, love them!

I think her dress, hat, shoes and clutch are lovely. And really so is she. It's interesting that she went with monochromatic. And each component is relatively basic - no frills. I do wonder if she'll stick with simplicity overall.

    ReplyDelete
  44. She looks very elegant. Love the hat on her, but the dress isn’t my favorite. Glad to see the new Duke and Duchess so soon after the wedding!

  45. Are we thinking these are new earrings?

Also, I'm thinking about how lovely this has all worked out for the family. Kate's on Maternity leave & with The Duke & Duchess of Sussex much in the news, it takes the attention off of how she is not! With HRH DOC busy enjoying & adapting to her new baby & the transition to a family of 5..... is also affords The Duke & Duchess of Sussex time of their own in the forefront of the news. It all has worked out so seamlessly for all! By The Fall, both The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge as well as The Duke & Duchess of Sussex will be working full on at the same time & each couple & individual on their own journeys! That will be such a vibrant time! Especially with The Invictus Games & possible tours for The Sussexes! Methinks Charlotte will be really hopping! :) xo

  46. I think I would be feeling this look more if it FIT her. Why, oh, why can’t Meghan find a good tailor like Kate has? She had the same problem with her wedding dress. What could have been a stunning look was ruined by a loose fit.
On the positive side, I do like the hat, her hair and the earrings.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I actually like the fit of this and her wedding dress.

      Delete
    2. I agree. Beautiful but needs to be tailored especially in the waist. In her tv role she wore pencil skirts that fit to perfection. Hope she refines the small differences that will highlight instead of misfitting her figure.

      Delete
    3. I don't think the fit is bad at all. Her clothes in the TV show weren't necessarily her taste and I think she's shown so far that really body conscious isn't her thing.

      Delete
  47. She looks great today and I really like her up-so with that hat! Also that fact that she has no strands hanging down or falling out of place gives her a slightly more "chic duchess" look which I think is great. She really seems to be embracing her new role and seems so at ease and happy!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Agreed. My immediate reaction was "No loose strands, yay!"

As someone else pointed out upthread, we're each entitled to our own opinions and it's bad form to bash a "sister" about something like hairstyle, which is not our choice and hence, not our business. So this isn't a bash, just a "yay" based on my personal preferences and opinions. Loose strands - to me - aren't always the right choice. To me, she made the right choice today. But for all we know, she's desperately trying to grow out the shorter strands and might be frustrated lol!

  52. Oh my! It's like a switch was flipped and with the royal wedding and the new title, Meghan not only became royal but also dressed royal. Improvements to her former style include: a colour (albeit a subtle one,) every hair in place (wish it had looked this way at the wedding,) clothes that are not baggy, panty hose, a real statement hat, a clutch rather than an across the body bag, shoes and purse in a lovely colour. There's real hope that this former California girl will measure up to the expectations of how the British Royal Family usually appear.

  53. Wow, wow, wow, wow! Everything about Meghan today says Duchess and she looks absolutely radiant and lovely. I love the whole ensemble - EVERYTHING - from the dress, hat, shoes, jewelry, accessories. This is actually somewhat of a relief to me as strange as that may sound. I know she has the desire to assert her own style and with the "messy bun" element of her wedding hairdo, I was concerned that it would continue to be her main style. I actually wish her updo today was how she would have had her hair styled for the wedding. And of course there will be events where she will be a bit more casual. But today I was blown away.

  54. Also, first photos of Harry wearing his wedding ring.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Another thing I noticed, that is a change since her engagement days.... she has been sporting jewelry with a white gold base under the diamonds (as opposed to the gold that we previously mostly saw) & she is only wearing her wedding ring set, none of the other little gold rings! I do believe I see a thin diamond looking bracelet on her left wrist (possibly again with a white gold base). So this too is another subtle shift for her as an HRH attending a Royal Engagement! :)

  59. Meghan looks lovely! She doesn't need a ton of bling, makeup and extra fussy details to look good. A true natural beauty. I'm in the minority, but I like the odd hair out of place and her relaxed but polished style. I don't think there's any need for her to look like a Stepford wife and by coiffed and hair-sprayed within an inch of her life. The polished "royal" aesthetic looks nice and is expected but I hope she stays true to what she likes when it comes to her hair and her style as much as she possibly can while still conforming to the royal standard of dress. I love that they chose to attend this event as their first official engagement as a married couple. The support showing to PC is a very thoughtful gesture. The rapport between Meghan and her new in-laws is very heartwarming. There’s a picture of Meghan and Camilla talking and holding hands that jumped out at me that I thought was very sweet. I have been looking for a place to put this comment, and this now seems to be it. It's not very often that a single photograph brings me close to tears, but the photo you have here (and in other posts) of Prince Charles greeting the Duchess of Sussex at the Quire is one of them. Given the emotional hell she must have gone through in the days leading up to the wedding, it's clear that they are both happy to be seeing each other and happy to be exactly where they are on this very special day. You can see the Duchess's smile, but every aspect of their body language speaks to the fun and joy they are feeling. The photographer should win an award for this unique angle, the lighting and every aspect of this photograph. There was some wonderful photography coming out of the wedding, but as a professional, this one really takes the cake. I have the urge to try to get a copy of it an display it on my own mantel! It speaks to me about the whole Wales family and their support and love for each other. I just LOVE this photograph!

  71. Now that more pictures are coming in, I have one observation about the dress. The dress looks wonderful when she doesn't move but when she does the mesh gets bunchy giving an unattractive muscleman effect, unfortunately. Again, I think, this is why Kate's wardrobe can seem repetitive because she has learned that very few kinds of dresses will photograph well from various angles during situations.

Wonderful to see Harry paying tribute to his dad. I´m one of those still remembering Diana´s words about Charles´"disappointment" because Harry was a boy and had red hair. Look where they are now...they share a strong bond and Meghan and Camilla seem to be quite happy with each other, too. I´m just happy for how things are now for all of them. Meghan seems to fit in perfectly - as a duck takes to the water (I hope I got that saying correct? lol)...
I honestly don´t like that dress - the cut, how it´s put together, but Meghan´s effortless elegance, the hat (which I adored on her), the shoes - I would never wear this, but I don´t even care, because her elegance and grace shine through no matter what she wears, it´s absolutely amazing....
She was the perfect English Lady today - Lady Mary would have raised an eyebrow thinking: "WHAT? Competition? NO WAY!!" (LOL!!!) and the Dowager Countess would have drily remarked "Who would have thought that an American lady can pull off such elegance - I need a sherry, NOW!" (LOL!!)
I hope they have a wonderful, relaxing honeymoon - they both deserve it!! Although, as far as I´m concerned, they could just do more garden parties, preferably every day - just for me to indulge in all these gorgeous photos... sigh! :-)))

  102. Does anyone know why they left so quickly? I found it odd. Normally, as I understand it, these affairs go on for some time after the Royals arrive. Often there are quite a few royals in attendance so as to ensure that those in attendance have an opportunity to speak with one of them. With 6000 people it would be a challenge otherwise. I assume it was the plan all along that they were there basically just for the intro and Harry's speech. Hence the pulling Harry aside to let me know (I'm guessing) that Charles and Camilla were about to start their walk about. Which was apparently their signal to depart.

This dress is simply gorgeous...the color, the cut, the frayed detail. The hat together with the side chignon is so elegant. Although it is a monochrome look its not boring at all in my eyes.

Would say...perfect first engagement as a duchess! ๐Ÿ’—

  112. The Duchess of Sussex looks just beautiful, i love the simplicity of her look and she really knows what works for her. The sleek hair was appropriate for this occasion just as a more relaxed approach was good for some of her pre-wedding engagements tho not a big fan of messy buns. I love the colour of the dress and accessories and those earrings are so pretty. I hope she can use her wedding tiara as her go to for big occasions as i think she carries larger pieces beautifully (especially the aquamarine ring, how lovely to see it after so long). And, I love the colour of Camilla's outfit and the display affection towards Meghan from Camilla put a smile on my face, great to see. Thank you Charlotte for your wonderful work bringing us these posts. Bronwyn-Sydney.

  113. Do we know who her assistant is yet? I noticed her handing a gift to the woman in a spotted dress with a big bag.

  114. I think she looks amazing -- every detail perfect. So glad she wore the tights, which are so weird in almost every other setting. But it shows respect for her new position and the Queen. Prince Charles has had a great week, I am so glad.

  115. ๐ŸŒธ I think the outfit is perfect. Straight out of Vogue.๐Ÿ’
Hopefully she also got the dress in black. I would have gotten both colors. It’s a classic.
Her hats are always exquisite and out of the ordinary. Not just run of the mill and I appreciate her effort in that. They accent her outfits perfectly.
Love the obvious closeness between Meghan, Camilla and Charles. That is truly phenomenol. A joy to behold. ๐Ÿ•Š
Harry wearing a wedding ring. Could Harry be any sweeter? wow. Kudos Harry. :) His message to his Dad quelling the rumors and healing the years that wrongly painted Charles as a bad dad. ๐Ÿ•Š
The Queen and Phillip have to be smiling one big smile after another. I am so thankful they are both alive to see all this. ๐ŸŒบ

  117. Today's look was a smash hit with me. Meghan is a rock star and I cannot wait to see what she and Harry accomplish.

But first, the honeymoon... I'm hoping for something adventurous, not just a beach holiday. Not that it's my decision of course lol! But H&M seem so energetic and interested in people and the world. No matter what they choose, the important thing is that they are happy. :)

  120. Love the hat, dress and hair. Now how in the world do these women wear these spiked high-heels when walking across a lawn? I would sink 4 inches into the lawn, trip and fall as my shoe got left behind, stuck in the lawn. Do they put something on the bottom of the tip of the heels so that it prevents their heels from sinking into the lawn?
