Meghan's Feeling "Wonderful" As She Spends Eve of Wedding with Mother Doria!

The day before the Royal Wedding has been packed with announcements, special moments and concluded with gorgeous photos of Meghan Markle arriving with her mother Doria Ragland at the Cliveden House Hotel.

This morning, Kensington Palace released the following statement: "Ms Meghan Markle has asked the Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St George's Chapel on her wedding day. The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms Markle to the Royal family in this way." Meghan will make the first half of the walk with the page boys and bridesmaids before joining Prince Charles who will escort her to her prince. I understand it was always her intention to make the first portion of the walk alone. There was an abundance of speculation and reports suggesting Doria would do it. Ultimately, at such short notice, it was the sensible choice. I have no doubt it was discussed as a family and the decision was made to ask Charles. Last night, Meghan and Harry met with the Prince of Wales and Meghan led the conversation by asking him if he would do the honours. Reporters say he was "touched" and "absolutely delighted".

Harry, Meghan and Doria spent much of the day at Windsor Castle where they joined the Queen and Prince Philip for afternoon tea. Doria has been warmly welcomed by the Royal family. Hours after she arrived she travelled to Clarence House for tea with Charles and Camilla and yesterday she met the Cambridges. The Telegraph reports the meetings were "jolly" and "thoroughly enjoyed" by all.

The Times reports:

'The warm relationship between the Prince of Wales and Meghan has been developing for months as the prince has gone out of his way to make her feel welcome. It deepened this week when he made time to have Ms Markle's mother to tea at Clarence House - an event described as "very jolly". "They have spent a lot of time together", a source said. "She was particularly touched by the welcome that the Prince of Wales provided to her mother. It was really lovely.'

Below, Harry and Meghan arriving at Windsor earlier today. The next time we see these two together they will be exchanging their vows.

There are moments we'll remember from this wedding and for me the images of Doria and Meghan arriving at Cliveden will stand out; it has been an incredibly difficult week which caused distress no one should have to encounter days from their wedding let alone on the global stage. Doria has been a constant source of unwavering support for Meghan and has conveyed nothing but complete dignity and decorum despite the relentless media attention she's been subjected to. Despite the challenges, they were both beaming, and proud mother Doria is obviously enormously excited to see her "flower" marry tomorrow. And Meghan? There's quite simply no one she would want by her side more.

An arrival video.

When asked how she was feeling, the radiant bride-to-be smiled and said "wonderful, thank you".

Cliveden House is a privately owned 5 Red Star award-winning hotel. Sprawling out beyond the country estate lies 376 acres of magnificent Grade I listed formal gardens and woodlands. Standing majestically upon the chalk cliffs which lend the house its name, the house commands panoramic views of the Berkshire countryside.

Owned, managed and lovingly cared for by the National Trust, the gardens feature the celebrated Parterre, season-long floral displays, distinctive topiary and a collection of exceptional sculptures. Built in 1666 by the 2nd Duke of Buckingham, as a gift to his mistress, Cliveden House has remained a pinnacle of intrigue and glamour for the elite. Enriched with antique furniture and period features, it has stayed true to its roots whilst also providing a luxurious setting to rest, meet and play.

One of the beautiful suites.

Meanwhile, the groom and his best man were in great spirits as they met the crowds in Windsor.

The Mail reports: "Harry was asked twice in quick succession if he was nervous, but did not answer. Shortly afterwards, when asked how he was feeling, he said: 'Great, thanks. How are you feeling?' Meghan O'Shea, aged seven, from Holyport in Berkshire, was among those who chatted with Harry. The prince noted the 'H' in the little girl's name - like his soon-to-be wife Meghan - and she said he remarked: 'Is that like the one I'm going to marry? There's not very many Meghans with a 'H' around.'"

The appearance echoed the eve of William's wedding when he and Harry met fans.

A video from the walkabout.

From there, the pair travelled to Coworth Park where they will spend the night. The luxury retreat is set on 240 acres of picturesque Berkshire parkland. The estate features an eco-luxury spa with an indoor pool and three restaurants. The rooms have stunning views of the lime grove, meadows and polo fields.

Meghan looked beautiful in the Roland Mouret Barwick fit and flare dress.

The £1,350 dress is described as "a romantic option for the Resort 2018 season, the Barwick Dress in navy double wool crepe can be easily transition from day to night. Angled panels create an alternative take on a boatneck-shaped neckline and a flirty, handkerchief waterfall off to the side of the knee-length skirt creates an ultra feminine silhouette". It's available in limited sizing at Orchard Mile, Roland Mouret and FarFetch.

The dress also comes in red and light blue.

Meghan has been friends with the designer for years. How did they meet? "I was in a hotel elevator in Istanbul, and this man in a bathrobe said, 'I love to dress you,'" Markle said at an after-party dinner at the Jane Corkin Gallery. "I thought, 'Whaaat?' Then he told me who he was and we’ve been friends ever since." Mouret dresses women beautifully and he's tipped as the possible designer of Meghan's second dress which she'll wear at Frogmore House.

Meghan's Mirror notes Meghan wore the Manolo Blahnik BB pumps in light grey suede. The colour is currently unavailable.

We saw a glimpse of Meghan's earrings. It appears they could be her new Birks pair.

It's been quite a day! We'll see you at 8 am for our Live Blog. In the meantime, any last minute dress predictions? I'm hedging my bets on one of the following: Ralph & Russo, Burberry, Stella McCartney, Erdem and Roland Mouret. Although Meghan could very well surprise us. And need I ask, are you excited? :)

  4. If ever I have seen a perfect example of “less is more” in terms of fashion/style it is Meghan Markle. Just superb. And I love what Doria was wearing as well. It was so great to see them together. Thank you so much for everything you do to keep us up-to-date, Charlotte! Will see you all in the morning - starting off with a big mug of Earl Grey tea!

  5. I adore this dress! It's great to see Meghan and Doria looking so happy after all the stress of the last few days. I barely slept a wink the night before my wedding; here's hoping Meghan gets some well-deserved zzzzzzz's tonight!

  8. Meghan looks fabulous! It's a great dress - classy, elegant, and feels both romantic and modern. I love the little fold in the front. And she looks so happy. I was thinking Roland Mouret for THE dress, but the second dress of the evening may make more sense. I'll be surprised if she goes for a heavily beaded and lacey number, but I'll be thrilled!

    1. Juliana, I don't believe it will be heavily beaded or lacey either. I only expect to see embroidery on her veil.

  9. Her hair when she was in the car with Harry yesterday was so pretty, and it looked like she had cut it. But it looks the same (as it was before yesterday) today. Still pretty, though. Coworth Park and Cliveden look so gorgeous. Oh, to be rich! (I'd never want to be famous.)

  10. 🌸 I love this dress. And the one she wore to watch Harry play polo. But my favorite of all time so far is the Black Halo Jackie O dress that she wore to the Women’s Empowerment event. That one will be hard to beat, IMHO. That was perfect.

    1. I’d put this navy dress in the same category as the Jackie O dress. Both are stunning and fit her so well. I thought it was a great, versatile look for day-before-the-wedding events! I’d like to see her in the red version, too! Here’s to hoping for a tiara for tomorrow!!

  12. Wonderful blog post A fun night. Always love the live blogs. I like her dress tonight and her moms coat is so my style.

Tomorrow will be fun, I think Meghan and Harry are a little more lucky then Kate and Will as there hotels are off from the crowds a little so wont be as loud, maybe they may get a little better sleep.

On a frustrating note can we agree that these are the times time zones suck, On the west coast of Canada here do I wake up just before the wedding at 4am or pull an all nighter to watch the gusts arriving and all the fun around 1-2am. Ether way I got my scones baked and whipping cream ready for the fun.

I'm outside L.A. and decided to stay up if I can fron 1 am onward, so I can enjoy all the pre-ceremony things (I was watching Sky News here on the blog this morning which was fun to start seeing all the festivities). However, I need to set my timer to make sure I wake up by 4am! I figured, I did it for the previous weddings, so I may as well close the circle with this one. =) I already purchased my crumpets and today I purchased MacKay's Strawberry Preserves With Champagne. My daughter gave me red "Keep Calm And Carry On" tin of British tea. I'm all set!

    2. I went back and looked at photos of Kate at the Goring Hotel today and was thinking how different their nights before the wedding are. The Cliveden looks and sounds more luxurious, to me.

And I’m with you! My best friend and I are arriving at a local theater at 5/5:30am for scones and the livestream. On a Saturday, too 😳😂

  14. Lovely dress. So I have decided to share what I think she will wear tomorrow. A heavy silk with some texture from the weave, not shiny, a fitted bodice, long sleeved with an interesting neckline. Full but not huge skirt that has a small train, all one piece. Embroidered with a slightly different shade of thread or some gold in it all around the bottom edge of the skirt and train. no jewelry except pearl and diamond earrings or maybe diamond only. No danglers. Hair half up but all on the back. Veil not very long and simple maybe with an edge that ties into the edge of the skirt. For evening I expect something like her engagement photo dress or a a fitted but but not tight satin fabric dress, a version of the satiny slip dress from old age Hollywood. No idea if she will wear a tiara for the wedding, but if yes whatever the simplest one available is.No idea on the page boy/bridesmaids outfits, but if her friend Jessica helped suspect will be a good choice as she is an experienced Mom and dressing 3 of her own kids. Expect the kids clothes to be simple and more of a country wedding feel. There you have it.

    2. I think this sounds just like Meghan, Ali! I can really see it. I definitely think she's more likely to go for texture and interesting cut than sparkles, beads, and lace.

    3. Thanks Juliana, my dress making/knowledge is non existent:), so I am glad my description made some sense. Now watch it be lace and seed pearls and airy yards and yards of fabric.

    4. I thought the same about thw dress!
That.s exactly how I imagine her.

      Delete
    5. I think if she uses a tiara it will be something on the "simple" side. My options are either the Strathmoore Rose tiara minus the roses; or one of the roses used to hold the veil above either a neat up-do or half-up-half-down (like we saw in the car yesterday); or a piece made from Diana's collection so it would be "something old" and "something new". =) I'm thinking her dress will include some glittery bling on the bodice, perhaps over some netting, at least. The rest, I just can't say. I hope their new crest will include California poppies! =)

    6. ali, that sounds so like Meghan! What a good description. The only thing I would add is a diamond bracelet from Charles.

  21. Zora, I found the video of William and Harry bittersweet. They are so very close, and as the dynamics changed when William married they will change again after tomorrow. I hope they all 4 remain close and especially that William and Harrys' friendship and close bond does not change in any fundamental way.

  23. How much help do you think Meghan will be provided by the Palace. I am assuming it is pretty limited. I do not think Sophie or Fergie got anything near the help that Diana and Camilla and now Kate gets. So maybe a personal secretary but not a hair dresser and stylist and however many others are on Kates' staff. She has some of her own money maybe she will use that for some of her clothing, hair, personal grooming etc.

  28. I love Meghan’s dress. She looks radiant and God Bless her Mom. She looks so calm, and she looks lovely.
I have a prediction, I think Meghan might wear a bespoke tiara from Birks. As a fashion sleuth 😉 I find it interesting
that she is wearing the Birk’s snowflake diamond earrings. They are beyond stunning, but what makes me think
that a Birk’s tiara might have been commissioned is they are a Canadian company ( an homage to the country Meghan
filmed Suits ), the corporate philosophy in 2016 for a “ Brighter Future for Tomorrow” the corporate view of sustainability, the environment, and how their diamonds are sourced only from Canada. Those facts alone seem to resonate with Prince Harry and Meghan’s outlook on life. Last but not least Birk’s received a Royal Warrant from His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales as silversmith in December 1934. Given the fact that Meghan and Prince Harry met in 2016 and
the corporate philosophy of that year just seems to add to all the sartorial reasons why Birk’s would be a possibility
for a bespoke tiara. In any event, I am beyond excited, as a loyal Royal fan. To my fellow Royal fans, enjoy. Fondly,
Anonymous aka Suzie from NJ. PS - I missed meeting Prince Harry when he toured NJ by five minutes. 😟

  30. Beyond!!! I had 2 missions of Great Import today! 1) a longstanding hair appt. 2) Bopping about gathering my Treats & Teas for Tomorrow! :) My flavor theme is..... you guessed it, Lemon & Elderflower!! :) I randomly hit pay dirt yesterday when I came upon some Fordham & Mason Elderfower Tea in a Gift set we had received at Christmas! What are the odds? Then I found some wonderful Fordham & Mason Lemon Curd Cookie Crisps & a lovely jar of Lemon Curd at William Sonoma! Then I hit my favorite local French Patiserie & created a collection of Tea Time Treats that will last throughout the day! :) I of course picked up some wonderful favs of my hubby, to soften the tab$$! lol :) So now I've Finally been caught up on all the coverage so far here on The Blog, but haven't as yet read any of the comments. We are off to have dinner with our Son & our new Daughter in law & this is such a treat, as they are usually so busy!! Then they are off to join their friends up at Our Family Lake House for the Kick Off to Their Summer Social Calendar! (several of their friends are getting married up there this summer) & Hubby & I will enjoy the rest of the evening ourselves & then it's off to bed for us. Early 80 mile Bike ride for Hubby with his Cycling Team & Royal Wedding Wake-up for me @ 3:00am! I am So Excited!! I hope I can Sleep!! I hope many of us can sleep! I too, as Charlotte pointed out, will always remember that Lovely Photo of Meghan & her Mother as they arrived at The Cliveden This Evening! What a Special Night for them to share together, as well as Harry & William too! I think we are all bursting with joy & happiness for Harry & Meghan! We have really grown to know them in a much deeper way, than I think any of us could have imagined when they gave their engagement interview. At the time we didn't know what to make of "Boots on the ground" & "hit the ground running"! We had no idea of all we would see of them, learn about them & of the impact that they would already make as an engaged couple! Now, it's all done but the Official Ceremony & The Party!!! They wanted to have everyone share in their day & that's exactly what will be happening, in fact it's already on! Today was such a lovely day of preparatory celebration & festivities all it's own. I almost feel like this was our own personal public Wedding Celebration with them! Tomorrow will be for the world & the Night will be for them & their closest friends. Today was a Very Special Day for those of us who are already there in Windsor & for those of us who are so into it all, that we followed all the coverage available & parked ourselves here at MAM!! Charlotte, you are a Goddess!! lol :) I don't know How You Do It? But You Amaze Every Single Time! Rest Up & Above All..... Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy!!! Oh, & give a special hug to Mr. Charlotte from your MAM Guys & Gals! We Love & Appreciate Him Too!! Love The Wedding Header! Is that Mr. Charlotte's Usual Touch?
Kisses & Hugs To Everyone & See You Back Here In The A.M.!!!! Yay!!! It's Really Here!!! lol :)

  31. I thought Meghan and Doria both looked lovely today. They both have such a calm demeanor in the middle of all this hoopla, and it’s great to see. I can’t imagine how much it must mean to Doria to know that her daughter is being so welcomed by the family she’s marrying into, especially after the nonsense from the past few days. I hope they have a wonderful night and are able to find a few more moments of zen before Meghan’s big day tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, I can’t wait to see what the Duchess of Cambridge and Doria will be wearing! I’m sure they will both look smashing. I know Meghan will be stunningly gorgeous. I’m torn as to who the designer may be, but if I had to guess, it would be either Burberry or Ralph & Russo. I’m also guessing she will be wearing a tiara (probably because I desperately want her to wear one, haha) but I have no idea which one.

  35. Just from the pictures it looks like it was a perfect day! Weather and all! I hope to look at the videos later and read all of your wonderful and fun comments! When my son told me early this morning that Charles would walk her down the aisle I got teary. Very, very special. I'm so happy Meghan chose him as I think it could be daunting for her Mom (or just about anyone!) although I'm sure she would be able to do it perfectly with grace but now she can relax and enjoy her beautiful daughter's big day.

Charlotte, we so love and appreciate you and all you do for this community. I know we tell you that all the time but you need to be regularly reminded! I was thinking this morning how nice it is to have a place to come and have a royal visit with wonderful people from all over the world! 36. Fantastic coverage today Charlotte - I'm loving this additional post. So happy for Meghan, what started out as a bad week is turning into magic and I'm sure the day tomorrow will be even more spectacular.

I am hoping her dress is designed by Ralph and Russo. Still crossing my fingers that she'll wear the Cartier Bandeau in her hair as it befits her hairstyle, leaving tendrils along her face but the rest of her hair pulled back. Sleek would be how I describe her look. And I too hope she'll choose a soft ivory - it would be beautiful against her skin.

And for the evening party Stella McCartney. Something she can move and dance in as she should party like a princess.

Whatever she wears, she's going to look fabulous!

  39. Major props to Doria for wearing those high heels!

I love Meghan's pre-wedding outfit! I like this better than her engagement coat & dress, I wish she had wore this instead to her engagement announcement.

My predictions for her wedding dress tomorrow (which are never gonna happen, but a girl can dream!)... I hope that since this is her second wedding, Meghan takes a "been there, done that" attitude to the typical white dress and goes for something fun, colorful, and exciting! Something like what the Duchess of Cornwall wore (but more youthful of course) would be beautiful! I think a light pastel or gold would look great on Meghan.

Well it's obvious where Meghan gets her petite frame and decorum from. Her mother is a beautiful lady. I wish all of them the very, very best tomorrow!

AND, YES I am sooooo excited! I have an old tiara from high school, some teacups and some scones I'm breaking out for the occasion! This is like Superbowl Sunday, for US GIRLS (and the guys who follow too!) YEEEEEEEEEE-HAAAAAAAAWWWWW!

  41. Hi Becca, my post/reply disappeared on the other page. Yes, it’s me! I’m so sorry, I did not mean to be anon! Ever since I got back from London I’m having trouble logging in. But YES, I arrived the day little prince Louis was born, so lucky! I was at KP, drinking tea on a fresh and sunny morning and saw the media line up in anticipation of the baby’s name being revealed. It didn’t happen that day, but the excitement in the air was obvious. I bought some royal teacups and pretty tea towels, my life is complete!!! Happy to be back, and happy that this special day is already here!

  42. Wonderful coverage, Charlotte. Ms Markle looks great, and that dress is gorgeous. It is obvious (from the pictures) that Ms Markle adores her mother. Nice to see Prince William supporting his brother. I saw some pictures of them as children and Prince William was helping Prince Harry to walk. Soooo sweet. Be back tomorrow. Get some rest, Charlotte. Thanks again.

  43. Thank you Charlotte for your coverage of this very special occasion. I tried posting earlier, I am not sure if my
original post will print, so if this becomes a duplicate, sorry. I think Meghan and her Mom looked lovely. God Bless
her Mom, she looks very calm. I have a prediction. I would not be surprised to see Meghan in a bespoke tiara,
created by Birk’s. I find it interesting that she has been seen wearing those gorgeous earrings by Birk’s over the last
two days. I think a bespoke tiara crafted by Birk’s would pay tribute to Prince Harry, Meghan and the Royal Family
sartorially. Birk’s is a Canadian brand, whose corporate philosophy in 2016 ( the year Prince Harry and Meghan began
dating) was a Beautiful Future for Tomorrow. The company prides itself on sustainability, environmental awareness and the fact that its diamonds are sourced from Canada. They have a Birk’s for Bees campaign that supports the preservation and protection of honey bees. In December of 1934, they received a Royal Warrant from the then Prince of Wales as a silversmith. All of these qualities and more make them a perfect candidate to create a bespoke tiara for
Meghan. I believe Princess Charlene was gifted a bespoke tiara for her wedding to Prince Albert. Anyhow, just my
thoughts from one loyal Royal fan from New Jersey to all the other loyal Royal fans.

  49. Sooo excited for the morning. I have my youngest son getting up with me at 4am. I've been watching the build up on here and other sites too and now just can't wait. I'm hedging my bets on Ralph and Russo, can't wait to see what her dress looks like and I have everything crossed that she is wearing a tiara too. See you in the morning.

  50. A very exciting day and I'm so happy that she has put the drama to bed and is ready to marry her man. My bets are on Stella McCartney and the Spencer tiara (what a combo!) I'm putting this prediction in writing for my own sake more than anything! :)

  51. I think the neckline on her dress will be similar to this dress. She has a great neck and collar bone. I’m hoping for the Spencer tiara. My alarm is set for 345 a.m.

    Hope USA

BBC America aired William & Kate’s wedding in its entirety last night. {{{Sigh}}}}. It was lovely to watch it again. Just adding to the build up for Harry & Megan. Can.Not.Wait.!!!!!

  53. I'm just so excited to watch the wedding. It's been a roller coaster for sure, and Charlotte you've done an amazing job of getting all the information out to us, even when it was changing by the minute. I really don't have any guesses on the dress, but I do hope she wears her hair like we saw yesterday with the half up/half down style. I'm biased, because I wear my hair like that a lot. lol I've got my alarm set for 4 a.m. and which gives me about 5 hours sleep if I go to bed now. Good night all, see you at the wedding. :)

  54. Wow, a sad mistake by someone. Just downloaded the wedding program that KP tweeted. It says "where she will be joined by her father, Mr Thomas Markle. I so hope they correct that!! Sad

  55. About 8 hours now! Less for the lead up coverage. I’m gonna try to catch a couple hours nap but I’ve some specials I need to catch up on.

    Final predictions:
The Dresses - Stella McCartney, off-white minimal lace, in the style of Princess Charlene & Crown Princess Victoria but with a twist and/or elbow length sleeves. I fantasize about some gold stitching somewhere, like the hem. Since I picture little to no lace the gold stitching can add that something special and Meghan likes gold. Roland Mouret for reception dress. Something inspired by that famous Jacqueline Bissett Kennedy dress that Meghan described as everything goals.

Tiara: Strathmore Rose or a new tiara. Cartier Bandeau or Lozenge are options too 😬

    Hair: up

Jewelry: simple studs like the Cartier pair or something new. And a bracelet.

    The Queen: in green

    Doria: champagne

    Kate: pale blue

Eugenie & Bea: better than 2011 lol. Still quirky hats but not as crazy. Teal & raspberry.

I guess that’s it. For now?

  57. Tamara Ralph of Ralph and Russo posted on Instagram with a picture of sonam kapoor at Cannes with a message “queen and her suitor “ . Is it a big hint ?

Hope so . Ralph and Russo do amazing bridal wear and their detailing is just exquisite !!!

  58. I’m so excited - it’s 1am EST and I’m just getting home from an event that was planned before the date of the wedding was released so I am exhausted but have multiple alarms set for just a few hours from now! Funny story for everyone, my male boss is just as invested in this wedding as I am. He called me at work today from a conference to make sure I had set my alarm and to ask if I had heard about Prince Charles walking Meghan down the aisle and a few other wedding details. His wife isn’t even as invested as he is - he also texted me and his other secretary tonight to share his excitement and to make sure we had set our alarms. He’s so much fun to work for and I’m so excited to discuss the wedding on Monday when we’re back at work!

My fingers are still crossed for the Cartier Bracelet Bandeau (or a new one that is just hers) and I’m wondering if she’ll go with a Roland Mouret dress for the wedding ceremony and surprise us. Since they are such good friends - it would be a great way to have someone who knows her personally bring her wedding dress vision to life. I also think a Stella McCartney or Monique Lhuillier ceremony dress would be divine and Roland Mouret for the reception if she decided to change. I can’t wait to see what she chooses!

I’m also hoping for Duke & Duchess of Windsor - I think they are just the couple to breathe new life and overcome the negative history. I’ll take just about anything but Sussex.

See you in a few hours!!!

OMG!! I am starting to cry already!! Just read on twitter (Rebecca English) that Ben E. King´s "Stand by me" will be sung by the Kingdom gospel choir and Harry WILL WEAR A RING!! YAY!! Never understood why William for example, chose to not wear one. Does he not want to show that he´s married?.... And I ALWAYS have to cry when listening to "Stand by me"!! Oh dear, I better get the BIG tissue package out a.s.a.p., LOL!!

Charlotte, I hope you can get some rest after the wedding, you’re working 24/24 ! Thank you so much for filling our souls and minds with joy and informations !
Dorian little wave to the journalists was really lovely , mother and daughter seem to share a lot !
And what to say about Guy ..... if Meghan’s Cinderella situation is reMarkleble , Guy’s is unbelievable : from beeing an American rescue dog to sitting next to the Queen in the royal car, driven by a royal chauffeur and peeking through the window to crowds of fans ! Have a good day , all of you around the world, I shall not be watching the wedding live, unfortunately , that will be later , nothing’ lost !
