Harry & Meghan Photographed On Valentine's Day

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were photographed all smiles on Valentine's Day as they stepped off a flight at Victoria Airport following a trip to the US. Harry and Meghan had a number of meetings during their trip including several hours at Stanford University for a brainstorming session on Tuesday with academics and experts ahead of the launch of their charitable foundation this year. They were greeted by the university's president, Marc Tesser-Lavigne.

Fellow passengers were surprised to see the couple.

The Duchess wore a number of sustainable pieces and repeats for the smart casual look. Meghan's cardigan is the $295 Cuyana Wool Yak cardigan. The piece is sold out but the very similar Recycled Cashmere Sweater is in stock in several sizes (with thanks to What Meghan Wore via Twitter).

The Duchess wore her Misha Nonoo Husband Shirt in blue and white stripe. The piece is described as: "The Husband Shirt is an oversized blue and white striped cotton button-up shirt with silver tuxedo-style studs. It features elongated cuffs, a classic stitched tuxedo pleat, and the signature MN logo embroidered on the back of the neck."

The Duchess wore a new pair of Rothy's flats (with thanks to Meghan's Mirror) The Shadow pointed shoes are made from recycled water bottles. The sustainable brand is on a mission to create stylish footwear with as little waste and impact to the environment as possible.

And carried the Prada Re-Nylon travel bag made from regenerated nylon.

I hope you're all having a great weekend!

  2. All Meghan's fashion attire today are perfect for travel. They are casual, comfortable and smart looking. I adore her Prada travel duffle although a little pricey. If anyone has yet to order a pair of Rothy's stop reading and go on line. They are beyond comfortable, affordable and very chic.

  3. Wow! I am so happy to see them all smiling Charlotte. Their charm is intact. Really impatient to discover their next activities. Good Sunday to all.

  4. They look happy. It seems very rude and a little sad to photograph fellow passengers though, and I for one do not need to see the Sussexes or anyone in purely private situations. Others see it differently of course, and boarding a place is certainly less private than, say, walking the dog or sitting on a terrace, but still.

Maggy Magpie (I love that !) I was actually wondering about what you say ‘... I really miss seeing them from time to time, and as long as they are in a public surrounding ... isn’it possible to get one or two photos ? I shall always be happy to see them with Archie but only if they agreed on the photo ! But in a plane ... and as long as it is one or two photos , from far , not bothering them by getting too near .... I really can’t make my mind on that , though ... if I had taken those photos, I would really be bothered by the press copying them and making money out of them while I would have shared them only for the pleasure of those supporting the couple.
Anyway, they do look fit and happy ! I can’t help wondering how things will go when they are back to UK for the commonwealth celebrations .... a tad scary ......

    2. The good part is that the man posting it waited until another day so they were safely home before he posted it.

    3. Nicole, thanks! I suppose it depends on the person in question if they are ok being photographed travelling or not. Having seen well-known people at airports or hotels from time to time, my impression is that the more famous they are the more relieved they will be if you pretend not to recognise them. It must be very tiring to always to be “on”, never look exhausted or unhappy so photographs cannot be spread with the wrong caption. With the Sussexes, it is not at all impossible that they do not mind showing the world that they are fine right now in unofficial photographs, but we cannot know. Hopefully this will soon be a moot point, there should be official pictures again once they have sorted out their new lives. There will be new photos when they return to England but it is a little worrying nonetheles, I hope they will have good security in this aggressive atmosphere.

BeanieG yes, a good point for the man who took the photos !
Maggie, I understand your point about famous people hoping not to be recognized or , at least , not to be bothered ! Like us, they do not always look their best and in a good mood , they are human ! Let’s hope we’ll get good photos when they come to England ! Possibly released by them .... including dear Archie !

    Bjr Charlotte,

  6. They both look so cute and happy! Makes me very glad they chose their route.

I love that sweater -- very flattering but also so comfortable looking. I have to admit that I find the Rothy's too expensive. I am very hard on shoes and need something much much less than >$100. It won't help to be sustainable if the general public can't buy them -- definitely true for the tote, of course.

  7. I miss them so much! I get that they want to live a quiet and somewhat normal life but I just wish we could see them more often. Either way may God bless and protect the Sussex family always.

  8. Maggie, I very much agree with the plane photos not being shared by the passenger, but the outside photo looks like it is "approved" by H&M -- Harry has a smile I have not seen for some time.

And I've been meaning to ask this for some time -- when some snarky "reporter" declares that Meghan has disrespected the Queen, why is it not complete disrespect of the Queen for such criticism to to be printed by a reporter concerning the Queen's family member? Never understood that.

    1. Yes, that’s what it looks like. The attacks of the tabloids on the Royal Family multiplied in the 1980s, allegedly as part of a personal vendetta of Rupert Murdoch against the Queen for passing him over for a knighthood, twice. These times are long gone, but the meanness has stayed, and it is not respectful.

  10. They look so content with each other. Meghan is a lovely woman inside and out. They deserve to live the life they have chosen without the vitriol that is constantly thrown at them. Love them both

  11. It's so nice to see Harry and Meghan looking so happy and excited, I'm sure, to see Archie again after a couple of days away. Meghan really has the best "casual" style and has reignited my love of button-up shirts!

  12. Thank you Charlotte for the last two updates. And a belated Happy Valentine’s Day to you and fellow readers.

I figure these two will be out and about working to build a new future. To be under constant criticism and the intense spotlight make any work that much harder. Security doesn’t come cheap, especially if they need to pay for it themselves in the future. It’s a challenging path they are embarking so a nod and a peek at Meghan’s go to comfy workwear makes me smile.

  14. I find the whole thing trying. I don't understand why the Queen and/or Charles cannot make decisions. Who makes their decisions? Couriers, aides? And H&M are members of the Royal Family so why can't they use "Royal"? I can use the term if I wish in a name. Fergie is using "Duchess." It seems very petty.

    1. Allison, it was suggested in another comment, but there is a very good article on DM regarding the legalities of using the words, 'royal', 'queen', 'king', etc. H&M can use their HRH title sas they are royals, but they cannot profit from it and apparently there is a law on the books regading this. This statement from the article gives a distinction on why it is an issue: "This issue, however, is just business. Clamping down on 'Sussex Royal' comes under the heading of 'duty' not 'family'."

    2. Anonymous, I would not wish to support the tabloids, but the Fail is unlikely to provide seasoned legal advice. As pointed out in a later comment, there is a short overview from the UK legal perspective – not exactly the most relevant one as regards reach and chances of success – on the worldtrademarkreview website. This is most likely not a legal question but a practical one of whether the Sussexes want to stay on the right side of the Queen and the Queen wants to stay on the right side of the government. It is not as if it matters that much.

  15. As regards Sussex Royal trademark, it surely makes no difference to those that like them if they use “Sussex Foundation” or “Sussex Royal”. They would be fine going out as Harry and Meghan, really, the Duchess is still mostly known as Meghan Markle in the US anyway. Depending on how many domains they have reserved, it might be a problem to work under a new name, though. I should be surprised if the Queen could forbid the use of the word royal – it is being used all the time by non-royals – but she can of course tie the HRH title or their allowance to the fulfillment of her wishes.

Personally, I think the Sussexes would be well advised to get as far away from the Palace as possible in name and marketing. The Royal Family seems unhelpful, it is really difficult how it could be anything else. They need to protect their own brand, they cannot be expected to assist the Sussexes in building a kind of second royal family in North America, only younger, more charming and better looking. That seems to be too much to ask for, and it is not as if the Sussexes really needed it.

  16. In my opinion (IMO) Harry and Meghan as much as I had hoped to follow their journey as part of the Royal Family have chosen not to be part of the RF. IMHO that means that they should not use 'royal' nor should the use 'Sussex' which was gifted to them by HM.

They want to be Harry and Meghan. No different - I'm US - than Kim and Kanye, Cindy and Randy, Beyonce and Jay Z, J Lo and Alex, or George and Amal. I'm not following any of those couples. I'm a US royalist - following the royal family. Meghan and Harry have removed themselves by choice (breaks my heart), they are moving towards being celebrities like these other couples. FYI, I don't follow any of them.

Just giving my impression. Meghan could be very comfortable here - hopefully Harry will be (I only wish him a less stressful life) as well but I'm less interested in his Invictus involvement given he's not representing HM.

I'm simply being honest and sharing my opinion. Maybe nobody shares my view point.

  17. @Elle. Where did you find this declaration of no longer being part of the family by the Sussexes. The tabloids and people who likens Meghan to Wallis Simpson and worse made such declaration.

Welcome to Mad About Meghan! We do so look forward to reading your thoughts. Constructive, fair debate is always encouraged. Hateful, derogatory terms and insults are not welcome here. This space focuses on Harry and Meghan, not any other member of the Royal family. It's not the place to discuss politics either. Thank you for reading, we look forward to your comments :)
