The Sussexes Continue Supporting Project Angel Food & Latest News

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are continuing their efforts to support Project Angel Food in Los Angeles and were photographed making several deliveries for the organisation again today. It is the third day in the past week the couple have worked with the non-profit whose team is tirelessly striving to ensure the most vulnerable in nearby communities have nutritious meals to see them through this difficult period.

Meghan initially heard about the charity through her mother Doria and following a tour of their facilities, they learned how meals are made with several factors in mind, including medical and dietary requirements tailored to each person. Executive director Richard Ayoub said: "Obviously Meghan used to live in LA and when she did she knew and she and her husband Harry wanted to do something and be of service. They seemed extremely happy and really are all about being of service. I truly feel this was Meghan's way to show Harry a little bit of LA but through philanthropy." He added their way of supporting the charity and its volunteers was easing the pressure on drivers.

More from Omid Scobie:

'Meghan has a long history of hunger-fighting activism, including voluntary work at a soup kitchen in L.A.’s Skid Row with her mother at the age of 13 and even on the set of Suits. During the second season of the show, Meghan took it upon herself to fight insurance policy issues—and purchase several refrigerators—in order for untouched craft service foods to be donated to homeless shelters in Toronto.'

Meghan has been wearing their baseball cap during the week.

Meghan teamed a three-quarter sleeve black top with a pair of James Perse Mixed Media Jersey Pants in army green (with thanks to Meghan's Mirror). The $245 style are described as: "Contrast Cotton mixed media jersey pant. Constructed with lightweight Cotton-Rayon Stretch Garbardine (GCS) and Vintage Jersey (HVJ) panels along the out seam, inseams, and waistband. Pull-on elasticated waistband with external drawcord." They are available in several colours and sizes on the James Perse website.

The Duchess wore her Adidas Stan Smith sneakers.

Yesterday, the couple were spotted walking their dogs Guy and their black Labrador which they adopted together in the UK. The images featured on the cover of two newspapers in Britain and were labeled as the first "exclusive" images of Harry and Meghan in LA. They will have been well aware of the demand for photos of them, and the level of paparazzi culture which exists in LA. My own guess is once it's not obtrusive and does not go beyond acceptable boundaries, they have accepted it will be a part of their life to some extent. I believe the constant leaks and hit pieces in the media were far more damaging to them. As they prepare to purchase a permanent residence in the US, privacy and security will be at the top of their list.

The Duchess wore a black sleeveless top, with white skinny jeans, her Adidas Ultra Boost trainers and Le Specs Bandwagon sunglasses.

On Monday, Good Morning America will air a pre-recorded conversation with Meghan about Disney's Elephant. I expect we'll hear more about Elephants Without Borders, how the project came about, and perhaps Harry and Meghan's time in Botswana. There's a very brief teaser available here.

  1. Jamie Lee truly spoke truth in her words about H&M and all other countless heros in the LA area.

  3. It’s nice to see that even princesses have embraced wearing sweatpants for quarantine! (Like I needed any more encouragement on that front).

  4. Begin as you mean to go on. That tells me Harry and Meghan will be doing good for others quietly and with sincere interest in the organizations they support. So glad they are here.

  5. Good morning Charlotte! Thanks for the great post! I think it's great that Meghan and Harry are continuing with the food deliveries, even after their cover was blown. I'm glad that their are just getting on with life, doing the things that make them happy and feeds their souls. And I'm really looking forward to Meghan's interview on Monday. I hope everyone has a good day today!

  6. Thank you Charlotte for covering this! I hope you and all of your readers are hanging in there during this difficult time. I've had a rough weekend dealing with family stuff, and normally I would go out and do a little retail therapy to give myself a little happy, but that isn't happening. Luckily these new pics of Harry and Meghan popped up. They remind me so much of my life when I lived in LA. I was heavily involved in volunteering there and I just miss that part of my life. Once this pandemic is over, I plan to get involved again. Also, Meghan's low key outfit is totally my style. Honestly, Meghans overall style is quite in line with my own....inside the office. Since I'm working from I've no real use for all of my dresses and skirts, and heck, even jeans. I saw these joggers and thought "I want them". Seeing the $225 price is out of my range, but they are on super sale at Nordstrom Rack right now. Sizing is limited for anyone that wants to order. I scooped up a pair in Carbon for less than $80.

  7. Nice to see them doing good in their way, still! I got Disney+ this week and watched Elephants. It was so good and Meghan did a top notch job, of course. It will be interesting to see what she has to say tomorrow. I wish them all good things!

  10. Great updates. It’s good to see them busy and doing what they believe in. I found time to catch up with a good friend recently and she said that to keep her lock-down gang from going stir crazy, her younger kids discovered a new friend, their retired neighbor. At her urging (well, really nagging), her kids offered to mow the neighbor’s lawn and put out her garbage bin out on pick up days. From that exchange, the green thumb neighbor offered up some veggie seedlings and is now teaching the kids how to container garden- via loud Q&As back and forth over the high backyard fence. That got other neighbors’ notice and now there’s quite an exchange of gardening tips, seedling and seeds going on, along with offers to group grocery shopping for those who are at high risks, who find delivery options expensive or don’t have membership for bulk buying (like Costco).

These little things reinforce my optimism. Unexpected friendship, connection and happy surprises. I laughed a bit (and am also wary) at how how home security and CCTV cameras are capturing images of all of us, including Harry and Meghan. Like many people, these two are out doing these things because these social acts reinforce the ties that bind us, a very human need to reach out, safely from a distance and behind masks. Right now, with life interrupted and much uncertainty and anxiety, I find positive personal acts give many of us a little energy boost and solidarity that we are, indeed, in this together.

    1. Not quite together though. Some of us are out of work or ill and have no savings. They don't have to worry about any of those things

    2. anon @04:37, not sure the “they” you are referring to? Do you mean Meghan and Harry or the royal family or employed people, or people who aren’t ill?

The thing is empathy and the ability to actively care for others don’t require a person to be ill or unemployed. It’s about attitude. It’s about teamwork, being a part of the greater society and meeting the social contract from wherever you are.

For me and my workmates, this pandemic means we have to adjust our behavior, our expectations and our work somewhat, but what we do the same— patient care remains about the patients and work is about getting through the shift as a team safely. For my family and many others, it’s one day at a time and we don’t take anything for granted. Many people are facing big financial hits with loved ones losing their jobs or facing reduced work hours (my family members are dealing with this right now). It’s a scary time which is why people need each other more than ever. So anon@04:37, I hope you find your shelter, a place or a someone who can lessen your worry a bit.

      -Be safe and take care.

  11. I hope they keep up the good work and win their press battle. Looking more like there was a calculated attempt to estrange them to provide ongoing headlines. So so sad.

  12. I like what I see. Beautiful images of a beautiful casual couple normal and still as Royal! Always at the service of others, it is admirable.

Welcome to Mad About Meghan! We do so look forward to reading your thoughts. Constructive, fair debate is always encouraged. Hateful, derogatory terms and insults are not welcome here. This space focuses on Harry and Meghan, not any other member of the Royal family. It's not the place to discuss politics either. Thank you for reading, we look forward to your comments :)
