During the Invictus Games last month, the Duchess of Sussex reflected on a recent visit to the Fisher House Foundation, telling veterans and families "I was really fortunate to go and visit one of the houses in Los Angeles just a couple of weeks ago, and I was so moved by everything that they do because they understand - as you do, as my husband does in creating the Invictus Games - how much the value of rehabilitation matters, not just as a solitary experience, but as a family".
Today, we learned more about the visit with clips and narration from the Duchess included in an Invictus Games Foundation webinar.
Duchess Meghan has narrated a video for @FisherHouseFdtn—a nonprofit which builds comfort homes for military and veteran families to stay while a loved one is in hospital—about the power of recovery. The Duchess, appearing roughly thirty-three minutes in, said, "What does recovery mean to you? For some, it means reclaiming your narrative, refining your approach, revolutionising your mindset. It's a change that's not only physical, mental, emotional, social. The Invictus Games show that this growth is about more than what meets the eye. The spouse coordinating doctor visits; the children celebrating milestones; the mother, father, fellow veteran, friend".
Meghan continued: "There is a community near and far surrounding our servicemen and women when they deploy and long after they come home because healing does not happen alone. It takes a village and is for the village and one of the most essential parts of the process is having people around you who understand - to grow as one unit - to achieve limitless potential".
Meghan closed by saying, "To remind us above all else: in this international family, no one gets left behind. Because this is Invictus. We are Invictus. Together."
Meghan chose one of her style staples, a blue and white stripe shirt teamed with a black pencil skirt.
In a sartorial blast from the past, Meghan sported the Ralph Lauren shirt she debuted at Wimbledon 2018. The appearance was just a couple of months after Harry and Meghan's wedding and came on the heels of a successful official visit to Dublin.
The shirt was described as: "A spread collar and a relaxed fit bring an easy chic to this American-made shirt. Crisp Italian cotton and genuine mother-of-pearl buttons add a subtle sophistication".

Good for Meghan! Fisher Houses around the country are such a great place for families to stay while supporting their military family members in VA hospitals and other medical facilities. They have big kitchens, with multiple refrigerators and storage spaces so families can make their own meals in a quiet setting. I imagine Meghan was happy to see that. 😊
ReplyDeleteMeghan is a Gold send to Prince Harry,he really did find his soulmate and what they have been through in the last 7 years has made their union stronger It seems.I'm glad that more people are noticing all of the misinformation in the British tabloids about Meghan and Prince Harry and the racism that made Prince Harry flee his Country to protect his wife and son.Meghan is such a sweetheart that tries to help others in any way she can.
ReplyDeleteLovely! Thank you for the post. Looking forward to tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the update.
ReplyDeleteI love this look I find her voice very calming. I am still hoping she may write her own autobiography and read it herself on audible. I so enjoyed hearing Harry telling his own story. Here’s hoping their visit to NYC is without drama this time and they stay safe. LRB
ReplyDeleteI like this shirt but it looks messy with the pencil skirt. Doesn’t go. It looked better with the white pants. I like all her bracelets. Wish we had more closeups and details of what it was other than the typical Cartier bracelet and watch. She has more on today.
ReplyDeleteshe has a great voice for narrating that video!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Charlotte. we are always impatient and excited to read from you. Wonderful performing voice for Meghan. Good day. Ghilou
