Watch Royal Documentary 'Queen of the World'

Hello! I'm just popping in for a moment to share a YouTube video link to 'Queen of the World'. Part One of the ITV documentary aired last night and it was a fantastic watch. Meghan is featured several times throughout as she is reunited with her wedding dress. She discussed the significance of the Commonwealth and the importance of the "spirit of inclusivity" throughout the day. As you'll see, Meghan's wedding veil is truly a work of art. I felt there was a strong emphasis on Harry and Meghan in this episode - introducing them as a new generation of Commonwealth ambassadors dovetailed beautifully with footage from the Queen's trips to member nations. There's splendid footage of Her Majesty and other members of the Royal family too. I'm posting the video as it may not remain available on YouTube for long.

As previously noted, Meghan wore her Roland Mouret Barwick dress. The £1,350 dress is described as "a romantic option for the Resort 2018 season, the Barwick Dress in navy double wool crepe can be easily transition from day to night. Angled panels create an alternative take on a boatneck-shaped neckline and a flirty, handkerchief waterfall off to the side of the knee-length skirt creates an ultra feminine silhouette".

What Meghan Wore notes Meghan accessorised with the Birks Bee Chic Silver Blue Topaz Drop earrings.

I hope you enjoy it :)

Part 2 airs Tuesday on ITV at 9 pm.

  1. Thank you so much for posting the link. When outside the UK you do not always have the option of seeing the different programmes. It was lovely to see it all.

  4. For those of us unable to watch this on television, THANK YOU, Charlotte, for posting this Youtube video. It was lovely to see Meghan view her dress and veil again for the first time since her wedding day, and to hear her comments on its significance to her. The Queen is, yet again, magnificent. Many, many thanks! I loved seeing this.

  5. I hope I will be able to get up close to the veil some day. Gorgeous. An interactive close up of all the different embroidered flowers would be awesome. It was fun to see Harry, Kate, and Sophie being featured as well as Meghan (who go a LOT of screen time!). But I have to say my fave from Part I was Anne; she was just a hoot.

    1. upstate diva, that’s a great idea regarding the flowers! I’d love to see the intricate detail of each one. And I adore Anne, too ;) I loved her comments regarding iPads etc. during walkabouts. Meghan did get a lot of coverage! It was interesting hearing her talk about the veil & what the symbolism means to her & the future (re the Commonwealth & Harry’s youth ambassador role).

  7. Brilliant! Absolutely Brilliant! Loved every bit, but especially treasured the parts with Meghan & Harry! What a natural job for them both, to be covering The Commonwealth! When you think of the extent of the job The Queen has had all of these years... with the faster pace & greater demand for coverage & involvement, I don't know how One Couple could actually do all that she has done in this new high tech, fast paced, immediate gratification era! How organically natural to have William & Kate serve as Prince & Princess of Wales/ then ultimately King & Queen Consort, while Harry & Meghan cover The Commonwealth! Both jobs seem perfectly suited to each couples' talents & treasures! While I still simply can't imagine the world in a time without The Queen..... it is a comfort to know, that she will be leaving The Monarchy & The Commonwealth in good hands! I continue to find it extraordinary how perfect Harry & Meghan are for each other & for the jobs they will have! It's almost as if an Angel..... (hmmmm....) brought them together by design! xo

  8. Thank you for the link to Queen of the World! I remember all of this history, but so many of the photos and videos are new, and so interesting. It's a lovely production.

  9. Thanks for posting the video! I watched it and I was a little disappointed in how they kept recycling Meghan’s sentences a few times. It felt like filler, to be honest. I enjoyed hearing her talk about the veil and her experience, but I thought they tried to make her part of the show into something bigger than it was by repetition. I loved hearing the story of the lady from Sierra Leone and the enthusiasm of her daughter who got to showcase her design at the fashion show at Buckingham Palace. I also enjoyed hearing about the trainees who were cooking Caribbean food at the palace and how much it was enjoyed. Best of all was hearing how Meghan is an inspiration for the young folks of the Commonwealth, seeing how she is bringing in a feeling of inclusiveness that they’ve never felt before. I got a chuckle out of Anne talking about crowds being rude with iPads.

    1. I agree that it was a bit repetitive, but I think it's a combination of introducing Meghan as a member of the RF, her comments about the Commonwealth being relevant given H&M's roles, and of course the age/appeal factor.

  11. Thank you for sharing! I loved watching the young fashion designer who was so excited to talk to Kate. I found it so interesting that Meghan mentioned they decided to use specifically wildflowers on the veil. It gives a very natural, delicate and almost bohemian touch. I was also impressed that Meghan could pick out so many of the flowers by country!

I think the parts with Anne were my favorite!

While I love Meghan, I think the parts with her veil were too long. It might have warranted a short segment, but it didn’t make sense to go back to that more than once during a special that was supposed to be about the Queen.

Does anyone know when that fashion show took place? Was Kate pregnant or did she decide to do that after Louis was born?

  13. Becca, I still find it amazing that Harry and Meghan found each other, and even more amazing that such a person as Meghan exists!! I was just hoping Harry would marry and not be lonely; wasn't prepared to like his wife more than him even!

I ordered the cookbook from Amazon a few days ago and it was reduced to about $11, which I thought was odd. Would love to know the actual total sales at some point.

Think this year is going to be very busy for our wonderful Charlotte.

  14. I think they kept going back to the veil because the veil highlighted the Commonwealth countries via flowers. I don’t think it was about showing the Duchess of Sussex. The Queen seems to really be emphasizing “passing the Baton” so she is going to be depending ALOT on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as far as the Commonwealth is concerned. I enjoyed the documentary, all parts equally. Thank you, Charlotte.

  17. Thank you for posting the link last night. I was desperate to have something to watch and it was delightful. I am fortunate to have seen the Queen's wedding dress, her coronation gown, and Diana's wedding dress. Here's hoping for Meghan's dress and veil.

  18. Thanks for the link! I liked the show. It was nice seeing the older footage with commentary by Princess Anne, along with the new footage with comments from youth of the Commonwealth. While watching, I couldn’t help but think about when Prince Harry said ‘the stars were aligned’ when he & Meghan met; for their private & public lives, they truly seem a wonderful match. I was also amazed that Duchess Meghan knew so many of the flowers on her beautiful veil. Adding the flowers from Commonwealth countries was such a thoughtful idea.

  19. Oh my goodness, Charlotte! Sincere thanks for providing the link to the video. I really did enjoy it, and probably couldn't have scouted it out elsewhere. I enjoy your blogs a great deal, and read regularly. However, I often skip comments. I just don't enjoy the occasional "razor sharp" and super focused scrutiny on the lovely human that is the DOS. How could anyone stand up to such? Well, I enjoy what you give us, and will leave it at that. Will continue to rarely comment, abd choose to not respond to any "comments on my comments". I will continue to enjoy and learn from your work from afar. I appreciate the dignity, skill and knowledge you bring. Thank you!

This is a very interesting program, featuring so much of the Queen's history! I had to watch it twice to fully take in the details. I hope we will get the link to the part 2 here? Wink wink Charlotte... How many parts are there? Finding out more about Meghan's veil and noticing how softly spoken and thoughtful Meghan is was lovely. I look forward to Harry and Meghan travelling the Commonwealth, but hope that they will have adequate time for their children.

  23. Wow, I liked this special much more than I thought I would! Seeing the videos of the young Queen, really brought home the enormity of the duties and responsibilities that she took on at such a young age. And I am so inspired by the way she handled those awesome duties responsibilities with dignity and grace.

The look on Meghan’s face when she saw her dress and veil in all its glory is priceless!! It seems that much has been made online about the change in her voice but to my ear the only change I perceived was perhaps a bit of a cold. Her voice was a bit raspy now and then and I thought she looked a bit pale but no start of an English accent that I could detect.

Thanks Charlotte for sharing this video!

  25. This is for Anett and Nicole from France from the last thread:

Anett - don't worry I have some scary stuff in my closet from days of yore that I wear when I go in to the office when I know I can hide out and no one will try to find me.. LOL. I have also been known to do the school run in a fluffy purple robe that is approximately eleven years old (yes I am saving up for my kids' therapy .. ha ha ).

I agree with both of you that Meghan's style is consistent and reflects her own security in herself. She is not confused about who she is and is not afraid to be that and that is reflected in her clothing choices. I am not some huge Meghan crazy fan and in fact there are things that I may not care that much about her, but I think that her self-assuredness is one of the characteristics that I find most attractive about her. She is not afraid of the world and she is not afraid to be herself and stand up for herself, and GOLLY do we need more women like that or what.

    1. Haha about your robe, anyway, all of us have fashion missteps, right?:)

On the description of Meghan, well, it is very sharp, and I am so happy to see she does not give in and behave as so many people expect her to behave, she remained herself and very much hope so she will at the end of days.

PS: I don't think you have to be a huge Meghan crazy fan here, but appreciate what she does and who she is, is a must to follow someone, I think. And personally, for me she gave back a lot faith that I have lost in the recent years.

  27. That video was quite interesting, and I loved how much Meghan's words and wedding veil featured in it. The queen is a marvel. There is nobody like her, and nobody can ever take her place. The era the queen has presided over is filled with amazing developments, positive and negative, and I'm sure she and her time will be studied forever.

  29. I guess the only thing left for the Markle Gang to do is for the whole family to parachute naked onto the grounds of Kensington Palace. Hope I know when it happens so I can avoid TV that day.

I hope there is someone trailing the lovely half-sister so she doesn't get close to Meghan.
